Abstract: A compression seal for concrete expansion joints is extruded as a one-piece unit from rubber-like material. The compression seal includes a compressible sealing portion and a pair of load-bearing wings that extend laterally from the compressible sealing portion. The one-piece design facilitates easy installation of the compression seal in an expansion joint. In use, the compressible sealing portion is inserted the expansion joint. Simple zipper-like motion may be used to press fit the compressible portion into the expansion joint. The lateral load-bearing wings are bonded to concrete surfaces adjoining the expansion joint to hold the compressible sealing portion in place.

Abstract: A honeycomb filter includes an array of interconnecting porous walls which define an array of first channels and second channels. The first channels are bordered on their sides by the second channels and have a larger hydraulic diameter than the second channels. The first channels have a square cross-section, with corners of the first channels having a shape such that the thickness of the porous walls adjoining the corners of the first channels is comparable to the thickness of the porous walls adjoining edges of the first and second channels.

Abstract: A filter for removing soot from the exhaust gases from a diesel engine. The filter incorporates two elements. The first element is a flow-through filter element incorporating a porous metal substrate formed by electrodepositing a metal such as nickel in the interstitial spaces of a packed array of electrically nonconductive particles of a material and then removing the material of the particles to produce the porous metal substrate. The second element is a hollow body having an inlet port and an outlet port, the filter element being positioned in and sealed to the hollow body so that diesel exhaust gases directed into the inlet port of the hollow body flow through the porous metal substrate from the inlet side of the porous metal substrate to the outlet side of the porous metal substrate and then out the outlet port of the hollow body. The bulk density of the porous metal substrate is less than 40% of the density of the metal of the substrate.

In the method the weight of the load in the load space is determined or the weight of the load in a full load space is predicted on the basis of said determination and the current value of the dimension; a new value is calculated for the dimension by means of which it is possible to reach a set maximum quantity for the part of the weight of the load; and the dimension of the load space is adjusted either gradually or at once to a position according to the new value.

Abstract: An roller assembly for attachment to a lawnmower. The roller assembly generally includes a tow arm having first and second links. The first link is configured to be supported at least indirectly on the lawnmower frame. The second link is connected to a shaft mounted with one or more rollers. A spring is disposed between the first and second links and configured to bias the second link downwardly relative to the first link, thereby biasing the rollers against a ground surface. The roller assembly further includes a quick connect assembly for rapid attachment and detachment of the roller assembly to the lawnmower. The roller assembly yet further includes a latch assembly configured to hold the second link and shaft of rollers in a raised position relative to the ground surface.

Abstract: In a control system of a lawn mower having an internal combustion engine controlled to a desired engine speed by a throttle actuator, a blade connected to the engine to be driven to cut grass, an engine output is estimated based on a detected throttle position and the desired engine speed, and when the estimated engine output exceeds a prescribed value, the grass bag is determined to be full of cut grass. With this, a full grass bag can be detected and the operator informed without providing a dedicated sensor.

In order to avoid wrapping problems a crop passage is provided at opposite sides of the space through which crop may pass from the space and gravitate to a crop feeding device which picks up crop from the ground and delivers it to the bale-forming chamber delimited by the inner run of belts.

Abstract: A turbine engine exhaust diffuser assembly having a tuneable exhaust velocity profile is disclosed. The assembly includes structure that generates a desired, tunable velocity profile within working fluid exiting the exhaust diffuser assembly. The exhaust assembly includes an concentric boundary sleeves that extend along a central axis and form an exhaust flowpath between them. A flow deflecting member disposed within the flowpath longitudinally divides the flowpath into a first region and a second region. The first region is characterized by a first predetermined velocity profile, and the second region is characterized by a second predetermined velocity profile. The second velocity profile is determined by at least one pre-selected dimension of the flow deflecting member. Methods of maximizing HRSG energy extraction capacity and extending HRSG lifespan are also disclosed.

The multi-mode shutdown system includes a shutdown solenoid capable of closing a pressurizing valve to prevent fuel flow to the engine for creating a shutdown mode of operation with no fuel flow to the engine. The multi-mode shutdown system also includes a minimum flow solenoid in fluid communication a source of fuel at a minimum flow rate for creating a minimum flow mode of operation with fuel provided to the engine at the minimal flow rate. In the minimum flow mode, the shutdown solenoid and minimum flow solenoid establish a flow path for the fuel to the engine manifold at the minimal flow rate. During normal operation, the fuel metering unit regulates the fuel flow to the engine.

Abstract: A fuel control system (10) in a turbine engine includes a centrifugal boost pump (20) that receives fuel from a fuel tank and increases the pressure of the fuel. A piston pump (40) boosts the fuel pressure to levels required by the turbine engine and meters an amount of fuel delivered to the turbine engine. A speed controlled electric motor (30) drives the piston pump (40). The electric motor (30) is driven by an electronic speed control wherein by controlling motor speed, fuel flow to the turbine engine is controlled, and fuel flow is directly proportional to the speed of the motor (30). Accordingly, the system (10) seeks precision of fuel control that can be achieved with an accuracy of better than +/?3% over a 30:1 fuel flow range.
