Abstract: A resilient clip for engaging a structure and having a body portion with a pair of top flanges and a pair of abutting coupling flanges. Each of the abutting flanges has an engagement surface and an engagement member, which engages the mounting structure. The elastic abutting flanges also have a base portion and a transition portion. A ramped surface of the engagement feature extends above the base portion. A substantially flat peripheral surface of the engagement feature in the transition portion is adapted to engage the panel to provide resistance to removal of the fastener from the mounting aperture. To manufacture a clip, a punch is used to apply a force to displace material of the elastic abutting flange portion into a die cavity to form the engagement. The elastic abutting flange portion is bent at a location passing through the engagement feature.

Abstract: An apparatus and method for applying reference or grid markings to wallboard during the manufacturing process is disclosed. Reference or grid markings are applied to one sheet of cover paper at a location between the originating cover paper rolls and the cover paper creaser or creasers. This is accomplished by locating and aligning multiple print heads across the width of the continuously passing cover paper, such that markings are ejected onto the cover paper in a specific and coordinated fashion. In addition to using any suitable commercially-available computer equipment to coordinate printer head activity, this function is accomplished by attaching each print head to a common horizontal support element and provide individual adjustments that are perpendicular to, and with the directional flow of the passing cover paper.

Abstract: A mail processor and a method for processing mail is provided. The mail processor severs envelopes along one or more edges and transports the envelopes to a work desk where an operator removes contents from the envelopes. A feeder draws envelopes from the bottom of a stack of mail placed in a hopper. The envelopes are serially fed by the feeder to a cutting assembly that severs each envelope along one or more edges. A transport assembly tilts each envelope in an inclined plane and presents the tilted envelope to an operator. An extractor opens the severed faces of the envelope to expose the contents to the operator and permit the operator to remove the contents from the envelope. In one embodiment of the invention, the envelope is discharged from the extractor to a verifier that confirms that the envelope is empty prior to disposal of the envelope.

Said appliance is provided with a steering shaft (8) and a steering frame (7) or wheel for the operator. Said steering device enables the soil cultivation appliance to change direction due to the fact that torque is introduced into the housing (2) of the soil cultivation appliance by means of the steering shaft (8), said torque being then used to change the direction of the advancing movement, to the left or to the right, without needing to steer the wheels. An advantage of the novel embodiment is that, when the steering shaft (8) is arranged on the housing (2) in a continuously pivotable manner, the position of the operator is independent from a thrust frame or the like, by which means the soil cultivation appliance must be mechanically guided.

Abstract: A control system (FIG. 4) for controlling regeneration of a DPF comprises a favorable-condition-based control section (52), a regular control section (54), and a regeneration termination control section (56). Section (54) initiates regeneration when the actual soot loading of the DPF becomes sufficiently large to mandate initiation of regeneration. Section (52) initiates regeneration when the actual soot loading reaches an amount less than the amount at which section (54) mandates regeneration, provided that selected engine operating conditions disclose conditions favorable for regeneration. Section (56) terminates regeneration when soot loading is reduced to some minimum amount or when conditions for continuing regeneration become unfavorable. By burning trapped soot during favorable conditions, the mandatory regeneration is postponed. Abstract: A dual check and high pressure relief valve that is able to perform the function of a hydrostatic high pressure relief valve and a check valve. The new valve has two poppets separated by a spring that are within two seats within a guide and secured by a plug. By adjusting the seats the relief pressure setting is set. The dual check and high pressure relief valve has three separate passageways that allow fluid flow between different combinations of the passages depending upon the function desired within the hydrostatic circuit. A dashpot is also included between the two poppets to provide positive dampening of the system.

Abstract: An internal combustion engine in which power is generated by burning a mixture of fuel supplied from a port injector and/or an in-cylinder injector and air in a combustion chamber, includes a valve drive mechanism which can change a valve opening characteristic of at least one of an intake valve and an exhaust valve; a turbocharger which supercharges air taken into the combustion chamber; a turbo motor which changes supercharging pressure generated by the turbocharger; a catalyst device including a catalyst which purifies exhaust gas discharged from the combustion chamber; and an ECU which controls the turbo motor such that pressure of the air taken into the combustion chamber becomes larger than back pressure until it is determined that the catalyst has been activated, and which sets a valve overlap period during which both of the intake valve and the exhaust valve are opened.

Abstract: A gas turbine combustor includes a combustion liner in which a combustion region is formed; and a housing provided for a wall of the combustion liner in a predetermined circumferential region of the combustion liner to form a resonance space between the combustion liner and the housing. The combustion region and the resonance space are connected by a plurality of combustion liner through-holes, and a circumferential length of the housing is longer than a diameter of the combustion liner.

Abstract: An inexpensively manufacturable arrangement for the cooling of thermally highly loaded components, for example the combustion chamber of a gas turbine, comprises cavities (4) provided on the thermally loaded inner surface/air exit side (3) of the wall (1) of the component which are supplied with a cooling medium from the outer surface/air inlet side (5) via cooling air openings (6) and which are covered by a heat resistant wire mesh (7) of a certain permeability. The cavity, which acts as pressure accumulator, forms, in connection with the wire mesh, a uniform pressurized-air film (8) for the cooling and heat shielding of the wall surface.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a combustion chamber (1) for combusting a combustible fluid mixture having a burner (2) disposed on the combustion chamber (1). The invention further relates to a method for cooling a combustion chamber (1) according to the invention. The object of the invention is to provide a fixing device for liner elements (5) of a combustion chamber (1) by means of which a simplified assembly from the inside of the liner (4) can be achieved. To achieve this object there is proposed according to the present invention a combustion chamber of the generic type (1) having a burner (2) disposed on the combustion chamber (1), a liner (4) disposed in the combustion chamber (1), and an outlet opening (3), wherein the liner (4) comprises liner elements (5) which are elastically fixable to a combustion chamber casing (7) by means of rail elements (6), the rail elements (6) being disposed on the combustion chamber side and projecting outward between two adjacently disposed liner elements (5).

Abstract: The gas turbines of the present invention have multiple combustion chambers, and within each chamber are multiple fuel nozzles. Each nozzle has its own fuel control valve to control the fuel flowing to the nozzles. To minimize the pressure drop through the fuel control valves, multiple manifolds are employed. Each manifold supplies at least one fuel nozzle in multiple combustion chambers with fuel. The fuel control valves are mounted on the manifolds such that the weight of the fuel control valves and nozzles are carried by the manifolds, not the multiple combustion chambers. A plurality of thermocouples for measuring exhaust gas from said multiple combustion chambers are employed to sense gas exhaust temperature. In carrying out the methods of the present invention for tuning a gas turbine, it is essential to note that the most efficient gas turbine is one which has the least nitrous oxides, the least amount of unburned hydrocarbons, and the least amount of carbon monoxide for a specified energy output.
