Abstract: An amusement device for simulating the appearance of snow including a window-like structure having a space between 2 front panes and a rear pane, where at least one of the panes is a transparent pane, and the panes are mounted in a frame support. There is a recycling system for circulating artificial snow, which falls down, from the top of the window-like structure and collecting at the bottom. The recycling system includes a trough with a rotating vane that opens and closes the open top of the trough, where one end of the trough is cyclically closed by and end cap on the rotating vane. The rotating vane is rotated by an electric motor. Another electric motor operates continuously rotating fan that blows the artificial snow from the trough through a conduit to the top of the window-like structure where it collects on a tray which is tripped to release the artificial snow.

Abstract: A long-range house number identification panel has its number indicia mounted on an illuminated viewing screen, being individually readable with the naked eye from up to 200 feet distance. An electrically energizable phosphorescent screen behind the indicia serves to illuminate the numbers at night. The identifying indicia may consist of transparencies through the surface of a blanking screen. A photocell switches off the screen in daylight; and the level of screen illumination may be limited below the optimum, by operating at a reduced voltage so as to extend the service life of the screen. A u/v barrier coat may be used to protect the phosphor of the screen against solar degradation.

Abstract: A plate, e.g., a license plate for motor vehicles, includes a base body which is made of an electrically conductive material, or has an electrically conductive layer applied either directly or via a further layer. Thus, the electrically conductive base body or its electrically conductive coating forms a first electrode of a flat capacitor. A layer having an electroluminescent pigmentation is applied on the base body or the electrically conductive layer. The electroluminescent coating may be applied by various methods, e.g., spray painting, brushing, special screen-printing methods, etc. To create the electrical field, it may be necessary to apply to the electroluminescent layer an electrically conductive layer for forming the second electrode.

Abstract: A shark deterrent device is disclosed. The device comprises at least two hollow cylindrical shafts, a tip, a twist-release mechanism, and at least one self-lock mechanism. The tip may be replaceable. The shark deterrent device is a retractable unit that is easy for a diver to carry and stow, and yet can be extended in order to deter a shark. The device is unlocked from its retracted position by twisting a collar, thereby unlocking the concentric shafts and allowing the unit to be fully extendable by hand. Once the unit is fully extended, a self-lock mechanism lock the unit to prevent it from retracting during use. The unit has a handle formed at one end of the outermost cylindrical shaft and a tip at the opposing end of the innermost cylindrical shaft. Abstract: A spring loaded line recoil device which automatically rewinds the line which secures the release clip on a telescoping outrigger when the telescoping outrigger pole is collapsed. Balanced spring assemblies automatically recoil the fishing line on outrigger release clip onto a spool. As one spring assembly increases pressure, the other spring assembly produces pressure to maintain uniform tension on the line holding release clip. The retraction device attaches to the base of an outrigger. When the telescoping outrigger pole is collapsed, the spring assemblies recoil the outrigger line onto a spool. When the telescoping outrigger pole is extended, the position of release clip arm on the outrigger can be moved without changing the overall tension on the line securing the release clip arm due to the counter balanced spring pressure.

Abstract: A cost-effective, passive system for conserving energy during hot, summer months is presented. Earlier inventions in this area such as the attic fan (U.S. Pat. No. 2,746,674) worked by forcing the hot attic air out whenever the attic air temperature reached a predetermined level. The present invention works differently; by preventing heat buildup within the attic. A simple, mechanical system is designed to cover a large portion of the roof with a cloth like synthetic material that has a smooth, light-colored, reflective surface reflecting most of the incident solar energy during the months when the weather is hot. An air gap between this reflective surface and the roof further insulates the roof from the solar heat. This prevents build up of the super heated air in the attic thereby lowering the energy bills to cool the house and conserving energy. During the cooler months, this reflective surface covering the roof is fully or partially retracted as needed.

Abstract: The present invention provides a system of injection molded panels having integrated connectors which combine to form a low profile enclosure having a telescoping roof. The panels are formed of injection molded plastic to interlock with one another without the need for separate I-beam connectors. The ends of the wall panels have cavities to accept both roof and floor outwardly projecting locking posts for interlocking cooperative engagement which serve to rigidly connect the components together. The construction of the wall, roof, floor and door components minimizes component shapes and simplifies enclosure construction.

Abstract: A means to create the shape for a structure that holds the most space under the least area for any predetermined polygonal ground plot. The ground plot is cut into a sheet material as an open window, called a plot-frame 2. The plot-frame 2 could also be created on the ground itself. A membrane 1 is placed over the plot-frame 2 and a pressure differential is created on both sides of the membrane 1. Functions that take on polygonal shapes are placed on the membrane 1 that would be entryways; connection planes and other flat polygons are achieved by means of constraints 4. The final static display shape of the membrane 1 shows the shape of the intended structure above ground.

Abstract: A precast post-tensioned segmental pole system capable of supporting a load is provided. The pole system includes a plurality of pole segments that use connectors and strands to anchor them together. The strands extend within a cavity formed in the pole segments and are external to the wall structure of the pole segments. The strands may be coupled between both of the pole segments, or be anchored to a connector. The connector includes an upper piece that is coupled to one pole segment, and a lower piece that is coupled to the other pole segment. Upper and lower pieces interlock with each other to join the pole segments to one another. The strands are placed in tension so that pole system is capable of withstanding forces imposed by the load.

Abstract: A glazing panel system is provided using retention clips formed of folded sheet metal having a top flanges for engaging and retaining a pair of glazing panel ends against uplift forces generated by high velocity winds flowing across the glazing panels. The preferred one piece retention clip has a two ply central web which is formed on the retention clip to be positioned at a seam between adjacent glazing panels and these plies may be welded together to increase the strength of the central web. This top flange is strengthened to resist bending of its right or left flange section by raised portions extending normal to the fold lines that join the respective top flange sections to the top of the central web. A base flange, preferably with left and right flange sections, is bent from the sheet metal blank. The illustrated base flange may have a flange section with raised portions stamped in the sheet metal blank to a height equal to fastener heads used to secure the other flange section to an underlying support.
