Abstract: A suspension or staying system uses a length of wire or cable with a hook or plain bead secured to one end. The hook may be secured directly or indirectly to a structure, or pass around a fixed structure such as a beam, purlin or girder, or something fixed thereto, such as a clip, hook or eye, and hooked to the length of wire to form a loop. The hook may include an enlarged beaded end which may be used directly with some fasteners or clamps, or with a clip to form a loop. The clip may be used with the plain beaded end or a hooked beaded end. The enlarged bead of either enables the length of wire to be caught by somewhat smaller holes in a variety of structural fasteners. The other or free end of the wire or cable is extended through a jam cleat and around an object to be suspended or stayed, and then back through the jam cleat to form a tightenable, adjustable loop simply by pulling on the free end.

Abstract: The invention relates to a method for producing a clip-on fastening system, whereby a fastening element serves as the base of the clip-on fastening system and is linked with a support in a non-positive manner. The fastening element serves to detachably fasten the support with a component, especially a seal, in a clip-on manner. The component is provided with a clip area which has a cross-sectional shape corresponding to the cross-sectional shape of the fastening element. According to the invention, the fastening element is pre-fabricated as a hardened continuous profile by way of an extrusion method while using a hard material. The pre-fabricated fastening element is glued onto the support, and the component is then clipped onto the fastening element by way of its clip area, thereby producing a detachable connection.

The process for forming the P2 pole tip/yoke interface includes a CMP polishing step that is performed on the surface of the wafer subsequent to the plating of the P2 pole tip. This CMP step utilizes a relatively soft polishing pad and an acidic polishing slurry which preferentially attacks the P2 pole tip material, such that the CMP step results in the recession of the upper surface of the P2 pole tip relative to the dielectric layer surrounding it, as well as the significant rounding of the upper edges of the dielectric trench in which the P2 pole tip is formed. Thereafter, when the yoke is plated onto the P2 pole tip the rounded upper edges of the dielectric trench result in a concave curved interface between the yoke and the P2 pole tip.

Abstract: A method for fabrication of a locomotive diesel engine turbocharger turbine stage so as to avoid harmonic vibration in the turbine blades when the engine is operated at pre-selected throttle settings. Upon determining throttle settings for the engine and modeling of the turbocharger therefor, at least one natural vibration frequency of the turbine blades and a turbine nozzle vane excitation frequency as a function of turbocharger rotation speed are determined. Then the data obtained is analyzed to ascertain whether at least one data coincidence, that is whether a rotation speed correlative of a throttle setting has a coincidence over a predetermined range of both a natural frequency and said turbine vane nozzle excitation. If not, the model is suitable for fabrication of the turbocharger; if so, the model is modified by changing blade stiffness and/or vane numbering until no data coincidences are present.

Abstract: Hollow fan blades for turbo fan gas turbine engines are formed of two separate detail halves. Each detail half has a plurality of cavities and ribs machined out to reduce weight. The floor and opposite interior walls of each cavity are machined simultaneously. The configuration minimizes the number of cutter plunge cuts for the internal cavities, and maximizes cutter size, in order to minimize the time required to machine them. These detail halves are subsequently bonded and given an airfoil shape in the forming operation.

Abstract: The invention concerns a method and apparatus for production of a hollow section (1) in which a coiled pre-shape of the hollow section (1) is deep drawn from a sheet part, which is pre-bent after a trimming process and coiled into the final shape of hollow section (1). The edges (45) of hollow section (1) lying in the peripheral direction are then joined together in the contact region. In order to improve the joining capability of hollow section (1) to other components in simple fashion, it is proposed that before the coiling process at least one flat site (35) for joining to another component be embossed before the coiling process in a pre-bent region of the hollow section (1).

Abstract: The material of the wall inside a hole in a housing is squeezed toward the center of the using a staking tool with a diameter larger than that of the hole. The material necessary for forming a locking section can be obtained from only a small part of the entire area of the wall of the hole. The amount of material necessary for the entire process is secured and the material is pressed so as to contact with an end face of the outer race using the staking tool, forming the locking section. Accordingly, the locking section provides sufficient strength. Also, since only the small part of the entire area of the wall is necessary as described above, there is no decrease in strength or deformation as to the thin housing.

Abstract: At least a race (1c) of a blank (B) for forming a bearing raceway member is hardened by heating. The race (1c) thus hardened by heating is finished to predetermined precisions. Subsequently, the race (1c) is roller burnished for hardening the race (1c). The blank (B) is formed from a steel for bearing manufacture or a carbon steel for machine structural use. The blank (B) formed from the steel for bearing manufacture is subjected to the roller burnishing, thereby achieving a hardness of HRC65 or more at a surface of the race (1c), and a center-line average roughness Ra of 0.1 ?m or less at the surface of the race (1c). The blank (B) formed from the carbon steel for machine structural use is hardened by the roller burnishing, thereby achieving a hardness of Hv800 or more at depth of at least 0.2 mm from a surface of the race (1c). Where cutting by turning is adopted as the finishing process, the surface of the race (1c) is finished to a center-line average roughness Ra of 0.

Abstract: An electric driving scissors provide a high torsion force. The electric driving scissors includes a casing, a motor, a driving disk, a crank, and a cutting unit with a pair of knives. The driving disk, crank and knives of the cutting unit are connected pivotally and eccentrically. The motor is installed with a speed change means so that the rotation speed of the motor can be reduced to a lower speed in the rotary shaft with a higher torsion force. Thereby, a hard object can be cut. Furthermore, by the eccentric hole of the driving disk, the axial hole and pivotal hole at two ends of the crank, the rotary shaft of the motor can rotate, while the crank move linearly. Thereby, the angle of the movable knife of the cutting unit is changeable.
