A spool moves along a spool axis to control flow through six sets of radially arranged removable fill nozzles and fixed outlet orifices in the distributor section. The spool moves from its initial position in which the distributor outlets are in communication with the inlet to the purge air section and closed off from the inlet to the fuel section so that high temperature purge air can forced passed the downstream side of the spool and into the nozzles in the combustion can of the turbine engine to eliminate coking in these areas. The spool moves against a biasing spring under the force of a pilot air driven actuator piston and the force of the pressurized fuel so that fuel can flow, initially through the fill nozzles and then the outlet orifices, to the combustion can.

Abstract: A current load rate of an engine 10 is computed and a maximum absorption torque of at least one hydraulic pump 1, 2 is controlled so that the load rate is held at a target value. Engine stalling can be prevented by decreasing the maximum absorption torque of the hydraulic pump under a high-load condition. When an engine output lowers due to environmental changes, the use of poor fuel or other reasons, the maximum absorption torque of the hydraulic pump can be decreased without a lowering of the engine revolution speed. Further, the present invention is adaptable for any kinds of factors causing a lowering of the engine output, such as those factors that cannot be predicted in advance or are difficult to detect by sensors. In addition, because of no necessity of sensors, such as environment sensors, the manufacturing cost can be reduced.

Abstract: A torque transfer mechanism having a multi-plate friction clutch connecting a pair of rotary members and a electrohydraulic clutch actuator for controlling engagement of the friction clutch. The clutch actuator includes a hydraulic pump, a hydraulically-actuated rotary operator, and a ball ramp mechanism. The hydraulic pump draws low pressure fluid from a sump and delivers high pressure fluid to a series of actuation chambers defined between coaxially aligned first and second components of the rotary operator. The magnitude of the fluid pressure delivered to the actuation chamber controls angular movement of the second component relative to the first component for energizing the ball ramp mechanism. The ball ramp mechanism applies a clutch engagement force on the friction clutch assembly, thereby transferring drive torque from the first rotary member to the second rotary member. A hydraulic control system adaptively regulates the fluid pressure delivered to the actuation chamber.

A roller rotatably provided at a tip end of the piston abuts against the cam surface. Therefore, timing and length of each intake stroke, expansion stroke and exhaust stroke are optionally set, and the piston is driven in an optional timing and at an optional speed, to enhance the efficiency of the expander. The roller rolls on the cam surface to minimize transmission, from the cam surface to the piston, of the reaction force which does not contribute to torque of the rotor, and to prevent the sliding surfaces of the piston and the cylinder sleeve from twisting to enhance durability.

Abstract: In a vehicle braking system, a backup piston pushes a master piston directly from behind when hydraulic pressure of a boosted hydraulic pressure chamber decreases. The backup piston has a piston body which is slidably fitted in a casing, and a pusher which is slidably fitted in the casing with a seal diameter smaller than seal diameters of the master piston and the piston body and which extends to the front end of the piston body, to push the master piston from behind. An annular input chamber communicated with a hydraulic power source is formed between the backup piston and the casing. When the pusher pushes the master piston forward, amount of volume increased in the boosted hydraulic pressure chamber is set to be substantially equal to amount of volume decreased in the input chamber. Thus, it is possible to avoid increase in the hydraulic pressure of the boosted hydraulic pressure chamber during forward movement of the backup piston, using a simple configuration with a reduced number of parts.

Abstract: An electric motor 25 for driving a compressor 21 that composes a refrigerating cycle is speed-controlled by an inverter circuit 31. When an inside temperature Tx detected by an inside temperature sensor 35 is not less than a predetermined temperature (for example, 5° C. in the case of a refrigerator and ?18 C in the case of a freezer), a microcomputer 34 suppresses the rotational speed of the electric motor 25 via the inverter circuit 31 to thereby restrict current flowing through the electric motor 25 and a power circuit 40. Accordingly, great current does not flow through the electric motor 25 upon the start of the operation in a refrigerator or a freezer. Further, in this case, the rotational speed of the electric motor 25 is controlled to be increased as the inside temperature Tx becomes lower, whereby the cooling speed of the inside 10 is increased with the current flowing through the electric motor 25 prevented from increasing.

Abstract: A system to extract heat from a high power density device and dissipate heat at a convenient distance. The system circulates liquid metal in a closed conduit using one or more electromagnetic pumps for carrying away the heat from high power density device and rejecting the heat at a heat sink located at a distance. The system may make use of a thermoelectric generator to power the electromagnetic pumps by utilizing the temperature difference between the inlet and outlet pipes of the heat sink. The system also provides networks of primary and secondary closed conduits having series and parallel arrangements of electromagnetic pumps for dissipating heat from multiple devices at a remotely located heat sink.

The assembly comprises tubing having an inlet port open to the external environment and an exit port open to the freezer chamber, the inlet and exit ports in fluid communication with each other. A valve is coupled to the tubing that either permits or prevents fluid flow between the external environment and the freezer chamber. A heating element contacts the tubing and is operable to apply heat thereto so as to prevent the tubing from becoming occluded with condensation. The vacuum relief assembly may further include an activation switch for energizing the heating element and a timing circuit for turning the heating element off after a predetermined period of time.

Abstract: A chiller reservoir is provided for use in a water cooler or the like for chilling a supply of water, and defines a substantially enclosed volume having a refrigerated outer wall carrying a chiller coil or the like for chilling water contained within the reservoir. An inlet port at a reservoir first end admits water to a central inlet tube for discharge into the reservoir near a reservoir second end. A plurality of spaced-apart baffle plates are mounted within the reservoir and have apertures formed therein to cause the water to flow from the reservoir second end along a direction-changing path back toward an outlet port at the reservoir first end.
