Abstract: A ballistic body armor and dehumidification system includes a flexible carrier containing a watertight sealed pouch which itself contains a desiccant and a stack of substantially vertical layers of ballistic material whose performance degrades under certain conditions in the presence of moisture. The watertight sealed pouch is mounted into the carrier so as to cover a portion of a user's body. The desiccant is mounted or laminated into the pouch so that either it is, or its effect is, distributed across the ballistic material to uniformly reduce the humidity level within the pouch.

Abstract: A garment for a part of the body, and in particular a sport pant, includes an elasticity element, or a number of such elements, disposed on a portion of the garment, while another portion of the garment is free of elasticity elements. As a result, the garment can store energy by elastic elongation under a movement of, for example, a leg. This energy can then be released under a second movement of the leg in the opposite direction, resulting in the garment supporting the second movement of the leg.

The mattress may also include a leg separator in a foot end portion, preferably tapered and including one or more inflatable chambers. The mattress may also include a pump mounted directly to the mattress. The transfer device may include a torso and head support accessory having independently inflatable torso and head chambers and inlet and exhaust tubes connected to each chamber. A distribution manifold includes valves connected to each of the inlet and exhaust tubes for controlled inflation and deflation of the chambers. The device may include a control unit connected to the manifold and mountable to an intubation tube for actuation by a user's thumb.

Abstract: A mattress component and method of making a mattress component is provided. The mattress component includes first and second layers to be assembled in a mattress over which a user will lie. The first layer of a first material has different properties than the second layer of a second material. The second layer has a surface underlying the surface of the first layer. Mating patterns are formed in the surfaces of the first and second layers. The mating patterns in the first and second layers are designed to substantially match the surfaces of the first and second layers with each other. The mating patterns in the first and second layers result in a greater effective thickness in one of the layers in areas corresponding to a position where hips and shoulders of the user will rest on the mattress, and a lesser effective thickness in other areas.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a 2-step methods, and compositions for providing more vibrant, natural and long-lasting color to hair and at the same time reducing hair fiber damage associated with alternative current methods. In the first step the hair is contacted for a period of time with a dye precursor mixture containing specific oxidative hair dye precursors under conditions where these dyes are substantially inactive. Color is then developed in a second step by contacting the hair with a mixture of a peroxide compound and a persulfate salt. Surprisingly the 2-step method leads to considerable “lift” or lightening without negatively impacting the coloring ability of the oxidative dye. The invention also relates to kits providing the means to accomplish these steps.

Abstract: This invention relates to a device which is either permanently attached or removable to the edge of a material such as a vehicular glass window. This device may be comprised of a converter sub-unit (vibrator) and an amplifying coupler. These elements are arranged so as to propagate mechanical motion generated by the converter sub-unit through the amplifying coupler and into the edge of the attached material. The resulting vibration motion in the material, which could take the form of a longitudinal compression/rarefaction wave, transverse wave, or a combination of the two waveforms, is of a sufficient magnitude so as to cause the adhesive bond between the material's surface and other solid debris, such as ice, to be quickly broken. This allows the debris to fall away while not damaging the material. The vibration motion in the material is also of sufficient magnitude to remove a liquid such as water from the material surface.
