Abstract: In a process for preparing cylinder bearing surfaces which are to be thermally sprayed, in which process a cylinder crankcase is cast, those surfaces of the subsequent cylinder barrels which are to be thermally coated are roughened, the cylinder barrels are coated by a thermal spraying process, and the cylinder barrels are remachined to their final dimensions. The surface of a cylinder barrel is roughened by a jet, preferably a water jet and/or a liquid jet mixed with solid particles. Before a blasting lance is introduced into the cylinder barrel, the jet is switched on outside the barrel and is only introduced into the bore after a predeterminable stabilization time.

Abstract: A method for producing a rear crossmember for a vehicle seat that includes the steps of providing metal plate stock having a first edge and a second edge as well as performing a simultaneous punching and clinching operation to locate and secure a plurality of threaded fasteners into the plate stock at predetermined points. This operation causes an opening to be punched through the plate stock and the fasteners to be permanently retained in the plate stock at the openings. The plurality of fasteners provide threaded connection points that are employed in the further construction of the vehicle seat. A rolling operation is employed to cause the first edge of the plate stock to come into close proximity with the second edge of the plate stock in such a manner as to form the desired cross-sectional shape for the rear crossmember and a welding operation used to secure the first edge to the second edge thereby forming the rolled plate stock into the desired rear crossmember.

Abstract: FINGER GRIP FOR TWEESERS AND NAIL-CLIPPERS is an improvement to current tweezers and nail-clippers by the addition of finger grips on the levers of the devices. Finger grip is defined as a grip for the thumb or finger tip(s) and consists of hole(s) or depression(s) in the lever(s). The finger grips provide lateral constraint and prevent lateral slipping of the thumb and finger tip(s) on levers of tweezers and nail-clippers. Consequently, the tweezing and nail-clipping operation can be performed with greater accuracy and precision in less time because the lateral constraint facilitates improved control of device manipulation.

Abstract: A novel plow moldboard assembly having a multiple ground engaging blades is disclosed. An elongate blade receiving slot is defined by front and rear walls and two end walls disposed rearward of the rear major face of the moldboard and which extends along the bottom edge of the moldboard. A plurality of ground engaging blades are arranged in side-by-side relationship, each one having front and rear blade faces and upper and lower blade portions. The front face of the lower portion is forwardly offset relative to the front face of the upper rectangular portion such that the upper rectangular portion is received in the slot and held in position by detachable securing means. Damaged blades, which are relatively light in weight can be individually removed from the elongate slot and replaced with an undamaged blade. If desired, the front and rear faces of all of the blades can collectively be reversed thereby extending the life of each blade.

Abstract: A novel shadow display apparatus includes a three-dimensional object that is implemented for projecting shadows on a surface when a light source is directed, and which is of an abstract shape such that an observer viewing the object at locations other than at the light source would not be able to identify what the projected shadow would be from the object/structure. A methodology for designing such a shadow display object or structure having an abstract three-dimensional shape, such as the shape of a tree or bush having branch members, and from which an observer viewing the object at locations other than at the light source would not be able to identify what the projected shadow would be from the tree-shaped object or structure.
