Abstract: A method of manufacturing a piezoelectric resonator includes forming first electrodes larger than vibrating electrodes in an area D1 including the vibrating electrodes on obverse and reverse surfaces of a piezoelectric substrate, and measuring the resonant frequency fr1 of a resonator including the first electrodes. The thickness of a metallic thin film required for frequency adjustment is determined based on the measured resonant frequency. Then, second electrodes formed of the metallic thin film having the determined thickness are formed in an area D2 including at least the vibrating electrodes of the piezoelectric substrate. By removing unnecessary portions of the first and second electrodes, a pattern of the resulting vibrating electrodes is formed. Thus, high-accuracy frequency adjustment can be achieved without the need for complicated positioning.

Abstract: A major problem in Lead Overlay design for GMR structures is that the magnetic read track width is wider than the physical read track width. This is due to high interfacial resistance between the leads and the GMR layer which is an unavoidable side effect of prior art methods. The present invention uses electroplating preceded by a wet etch to fabricate the leads. This approach requires only a thin protection layer over the GMR layer to ensure that interface resistance is minimal. Using wet surface cleaning avoids sputtering defects and plating is compatible with this so the cleaned surface is preserved Only a single lithography step is needed to define the track since there is no re-deposition involved.

The cutter knife body has a plurality of engagement indentations formed at regular intervals alongside a slit extending in a longitudinal direction. On the other hand, the slider has a spring member provided with an engagement head which is to be engaged with one of the engagement indentations. When an external force is directly applied to the blade in the advancing direction of the blade, the blade is inhibited from sliding out, because the distal side of the engagement head comes into contact with the distal end wall of the engagement indentation.

Abstract: A cutting head for a brush cutter, edge trimmer or similar, the head comprises a passageway (112) for a cutter string (300) and at least one curved surface (120) for supporting the string, the surface extending between an exit region (115) for said string from said passageway and a peripheral region of the head. According to the invention, the passageway extends (A) in a manner that is offset from an axis of rotation (C) of the head so as to present an inside edge constituted by its edge closest to said axis of rotation, said inner edge corresponding to a trailing edge of the string while the head is rotating, and the curved portion extends from said inner edge. This serves to reduce the radius of curvature of the curved portion without needing to increase the diameter of the head.
