Abstract: A single patient, personal use patient transfer mattress is provided including at least a substantially permanently stainable top sheet having a width, a length, and longitudinally oriented peripheral edges and a bottom sheet having the same width, the same length, longitudinally oriented peripheral edges and a plurality of perforations. The longitudinally oriented peripheral edges of the top and bottom sheets are sealingly fastened to one another. A plurality of baffles, each having a width and a length, are attached to an inner surface of the top sheet and an inner surface of the bottom sheet so as to be transversely oriented between the top sheet and the bottom. The baffles along with the widths of the top and bottom sheets define a radially-outwardly curved perimeter wall that is disposed between an edge of the baffles and the sealed peripheral edges of the top and bottom sheets.

Abstract: An infant mattress for underlying an infant. The infant mattress is made of three layers of a foam material; an inner layer comprised of an open or closed cell foam material, preferably urethane, and two outer layers that sandwich the inner layer therebetween, comprised of a visco-elastic foam material, preferably urethane. An outer cover surrounds all three layers and is cleanable and anti-microbial. The inner layer is of a less resilient, or stiffer material than the outer layers that are comprised of a visco-elastic material and are slow to spring back upon being indented by the weight of the infant to evenly distribute the weight of the infant. The outer and inner foam layers are preferably secured together by a mechanical retaining means, one of which is a stripe of adhesive located only around the perimeter of the foam layers.

The polymer portion may be molded over one longitudinal edge of the metal portion to thereby permanently secure the portions together. The measuring device may have a longitudinal balance axis disposed between a free edge of the metal portion and a free edge of the polymer portion. The balance axis can be disposed so that when the measuring device is placed on a page the metal portion free edge will contact the page and the polymer portion free edge will be raised. Alternatively, the balance axis can be disposed so that when the measuring device is placed on a page the metal portion free edge and the polymer portion free edge are raised above the page. Pressure on the metal portion will cause the metal portion free edge to contact the page while pressure on the polymer portion free edge will raise the metal portion free edge further off the page.

Abstract: The present invention is directed to durable finishes for cellulose-containing fibers and fibrous substrates. The active components of the finishes are hydroxyl-containing amines, and preferably trialkanol amines. When combined with a suitable crosslinker, the amines become attached to and crosslinked on the substrate fiber, and form a soft resinous coating that is durable to cleaning procedures. This polymeric coating imparts durable anti-microbial activity and renewable control of certain odors.

Abstract: The present invention provides nylon 6 and nylon 6,6 materials having resistance to staining by a wide variety of staining agents including, but not limited to, coffee, red wine, mustard, tumeric, Betadine®, bleach, benzoyl peroxide, as well as other types of common staining agents. The invention also provides fibers, yams and carpet products prepared from such stain resistant nylon materials. Yet further, the present invention provides methods of imparting stain resistance to nylon materials. Methods of providing such treated fibers are set forth.

Abstract: A method and system for washing clothing in a washing machine. A washing device has impeller blades with movable blade tips for adjusting the amount of surface area of the blades depending on the water level in a basket of a washing machine. The movable blade tips may be connected to blade bases via a hinge and a spring. For high-water conditions, the movable blade tips are automatically positioned in a raised position, and for low-water conditions, the blade tips are automatically positioned in a lowered position. Advantageously, the invention can allow a single washing machine to have the cleaning ability of a washing machine having a low-water condition impeller and the rinsing ability of a washing machine having high-water condition agitator.

Rebar runs through the steel beams in a direction perpendicular to the steel beams and above at least two of the supporting formwork elements. Concrete material is poured to form concrete diaphragms on top of and around the rebar at locations above the supporting formwork elements. After the diaphragms are poured, one or more of the supporting formwork elements are adjusted to stress the steel beams. A concrete deck is fabricated over the surface atop the diaphragms and the steel beams such that the resulting compression stress of the concrete deck secures in place the stresses imparted to the steel beams.

Abstract: A multilayer ceramic carrier for an optical element includes a terraced cavity for retaining a vertically receiving or vertically emitting optical element. The multilayer ceramic carrier includes conductive traces interposed between the ceramic layers and which extend into the terraced cavity along the trenches formed in the cavity. A vertical cavity surface emitting laser or vertically receiving optical element is wire bonded to the conductive traces which extend into the cavity. In one embodiment, the terraced cavity of the multilayer ceramic carrier includes a VCSEL and photodetector therein, the photodetector capable of monitoring the output optical power of the VCSEL. The method for forming the multilayer ceramic carrier includes forming a plurality of layers of ceramic tape, joining the layers, then co-firing the stacked layers. The multilayer ceramic carrier is joined to a plastic optical housing which includes an aperture for securing an optical fiber.

Abstract: A windshield wiper solution dispenser located at vehicle servicing stations or fuel stations. The stations are usually located in geographic regions which are exposed to long periods of freezing temperatures. The solution dispenser is configured to maintain the solution within the dispenser in a liquid state during outside freezing temperatures. The dispenser has an interior region which contains the solution and also has a heater to keep the solution in a liquid state. A plurality of monitors or sensors are provided as well as temperature controlling mechanisms. In one embodiment the heater has a programmable logic device or controller to monitor the interior temperature and exterior temperatures as well as the solution liquid level and adjust the heater and the amount of solution contained in the dispenser as needed. The heater can be a coiled electrical resistance heater, an electrical liner heater, or a plurality of thermoelectric units which can be placed around the outside of the dispenser.

Each wing has a locking hole formed through the wing. The locking holes correspond respectively to and engage the locking protrusions on the tongue.
