  • Publication number: 20060162044
Abstract: The invention includes a necktie fastener system capable of restraining the bottom portion of the necktie close to the shirt of a wearer, and thereby controlling the entire necktie so that it won't fly in the wind, or while leaning over a table. The invention is for use when wearing a shirt having buttons located near the center of the front of the shirt. There is an H shape which is attached to the back of the apron of the necktie by simply hot ironing it. The H shape is relatively flexible allowing easy formation of the various necktie knots. Once the necktie has been tied and adjusted, the wearer inserts the a elongated placket under the horizontal bar and attaches the placket to two adjacent shirt buttons. The resulting combination slidably secures the end of the necktie nearest the bottom of the tie to stay near the shirt of the wearer. This gives control of the entire length of the tie from flying away in the wind or falling down when reaching over a table.

The heat insulating barrier is removably inserted into a zippered pocket or a weblike pouch, the pocket or pouch being positioned proximate the back of a user's hand. the heat insulating barrier acts to selectively reduce heat conduction from the back side of the hand, thereby allowing the user's hand or hands to remain warm in cold environments. The ability to stack a varying number of heat insulating layers in the pouch or pocket further allows the user to selectively control the warmth of the hand as the ambient temperature fluctuates during use. The zippered pocket or weblike pouch can have first and second opening to permit increased cooling through the back portion of the glove.

Abstract: An adjustable bed rail capable of gripping a mattress either alone or together with a bedspring to hold the protective side rail in place. A locking assembly is adjustable to adjust for the height of the mattress either alone or together with the bedspring. Friction pads and/or friction surfaces may be mounted along the bed rail to further enhance the locking of the side rail to the mattress. The bed rail may be provided with a rail that drops down to facilitate climbing on to or off of the bed and can be locked into the upright position.

Abstract: A mechanism to support the head of a patient is provided for therapeutic beds, including prone positioning therapeutic beds. In one embodiment, a head restraint apparatus is provided comprising a casing having a closed bottom end, an open top end, and an open front end. The casing encloses a cavity for receiving a person's head resting in a supine position and substantially encompasses the back and sides of a person's head. A face piece removably attached to the open top end of the casing is configured to restrain at least a portion of the front of a person's head. In another embodiment, a head restraint is slidably mounted on a transversely oriented rail of the patient support platform. A manually operable clamp is provided to fix the position of the head restraint with respect to the rail.

Abstract: An electric mattress comprises a main member made of an elastic material. A frame has a base, a plurality of shafts in the main member and a plurality of elastic members on the shafts. The shafts are rotated to flex and extend the main member. A driving device is connected to the shafts to drive the shafts for rotation respectively, and a control device is electrically connected to the driving device for operation. As a result, user has to operate the control device to adjust the slope of the main member.

The pillow body is curved and is both flexible and firm to permit it to wrap around a user. A curved side pillow is operably attached to one of the ends of the main pillow such that the side pillow is positionable around the user's side and back when the main pillow is placed adjacent to the user's stomach. The side pillow has an inner portion near the main pillow and an outer portion away from the main pillow.

Abstract: The inventive sitting and reclining cushion is divided into a seat cushion and a back cushion, which are configured in an essentially identical manner. A sleeve (4) consisting of a textile material with low elasticity contains a plurality of tubular pockets (5) consisting of an identical material and joined longitudinally to said sleeve by means of seams (6). Each pocket (5) is likewise connected to its neighbour or neighbours by means of seams (6). Each pocket (5) contains a pouch (7), which consists of an elastic plastic and comprises a valve (8), and can be filled with compressed air. As a result, the pockets (5) modify their shape, thus tensioning the sleeve (4) and forming the actual sitting or reclining surface. The optimised shape of the cushion structure can be adapted to individual requirements for comfort by means of different air pressures in the pouches (7).

Abstract: The present invention is directed to at least one tie strap positioned on an inflatable blanket. These tie straps, when being used with the blanket, are positioned not on the non-inflatable periphery sections of the inflatable blanket, but on non-periphery sections, like an inflatable section, of the inflatable blanket. This is being done to provide the desired control of the blanket's movement and, if desired, the inflation of the blanket in certain areas of the inflatable blanket. Controlling the inflation of the blanket is obtained by the present straps ability to alter the size of at least a portion of an inflatable chamber within the inflatable blanket. The present ties also provide greater movement control because the tie straps provide desired pressure to at least one section of the inflatable blanket. The tie straps of the present invention are also an integral part of the blanket which means supplemental materials, like tape or ropes, are not needed to control the blanket with the present invention.
