Abstract: Water contained in exhaust gas discharged from a fuel cell stack 22 is separated by a gas-liquid separator 48 and is accumulated in a recovery tank 54. The procedure of the invention sets a release amount of water and selects one or multiple positions for water release, based on the driving conditions including the vehicle speed and the acceleration, the turning state, activation or non-activation of skid reduction control, the distance from any object detected by clearance sonars 94a through 94d, a distance from a subsequent vehicle measured by an extremely high frequency radar 92, and the presence of raindrops detected by a raindrop detection sensor, and releases the water accumulated in the recovery tank 54 from water outlets at the selected one or multiple positions among water outlets 58a through 58f at multiple different locations. This arrangement ensures adequate release of the water produced by the fuel cell stack 22 to the atmosphere.

Abstract: The present invention provides a universal belay device for providing safety to mountain and rock climbers. The belay device allows a belayer to selectively operate the device in any of a plurality of modes. In an auto-locking mode, a fall by a climber automatically stops the rope without requiring the belayer manually apply any holding or stopping force. In a frictional mode, a fall by a climber is stopped by the belayer applying a minimal amount of pressure. The belay device includes a housing in which a rope pin and cam are contained. The cam is rotable to a first position which allows the rope pin to frictionally secure the rope against the housing and stop the rope. The cam is rotable to a second position which substantially prevents the rope pin from fully securing the rope and requires the user to apply a stopping force to stop the rope.

Abstract: The present invention relates to an axial adjustable, rotary brake device using eddy current resistance, having an annular rotating conductive reaction member fastened on a central axle, having a frame, and fitted with permanent magnets disposed on either one side or both sides of said member, wherein the magnets produce a magnetic field between the magnet arrays, and through the member. Relative motion of the member and magnets produces eddy current resistance opposing the movement of the member. The magnets are mounted such that their respective positions relative to each other and thus to the intermediate conductive member can be changed by an adjusting Structure to increase or decrease the space between magnets and member, (air gap), distance from the rotational center or their relationship to each other. Various other configurations for changing the spatial relationship of magnets and members are presented which can be employed to produce many embodiments and variations of the present invention.

Abstract: The invention relates to a decoupling sleeve comprising a coaxial driving shaft and a coaxial driven shaft, connected by dog clutches by means of which the driving shaft transmits engine torque to the driven shaft in one direction during forward operation, a connecting member being connected to the first of the two shafts on the one hand and to the second shaft on the other hand, such that the connecting member is detached from the first shaft in the event of reverse torque occurring beyond a specific threshold, the two shafts being then free in rotation relative to one another. The sleeve is characterized in that the connecting member is connected by screwing to a nut which is mobile in translation relative to the first shaft against a return spring and mobile in rotation over a limited angle, the connecting member being detached from the first shaft by unscrewing the nut. The connecting member is, in particular, in the shape of a rod.
