Abstract: The present invention relates to a discontinuous business form construction created preferably from differential substrates that have been provided with one or more removable elements such as cards, labels, tags and differential substrates. The form construction is desirably a composite form having at least first and second discrete portions or segments one of which carries one or more removable elements and the other of which provides an information carrying portion. The form construction of the present invention is produced in such a manner so that when a series of the forms are placed into a stack, such as in a tray that supplies forms to a printing station or a laser printer, there is no significant pad lean. That is, the stack of forms retains a relatively square, rectangular or cube shaped as opposed to one having a sloped configuration, a high end and a low end, due to differential thicknesses between the two portions of the construction.

Abstract: An optical storage medium having at least two information layers is provided, wherein a first information layer is in the form of a dichroic filter that is reflective at a first selected wavelength and transmissive at a second selected wavelength. The dichroic filter has a laminate structure that includes at least a metallic layer and a dielectric layer, wherein the total thickness of the dichroic filter is about or less than 100 nm. A second information layer that is reflective at the second wavelength is disposed behind and spaced from the dichroic filter. This construction permits a first incident light beam at the first wavelength to be reflected from the dichroic filter, to produce a first reflected beam carrying information recorded in that layer.

Abstract: A system is provided for authenticating and securing product transactions. An integrated circuit is attached to a target, such as an optical disc or electronic device. The integrated circuit has an RF transceiver that is capable of establishing communication with an associated reading device. The integrated circuit also has a hidden memory, which can not be read externally, and a user memory. The hidden memory stores an authentication message, while the user memory stores readable authentication information. The hidden authentication message and the authentication information are related through a cryptographic process. However, even though the integrated circuit benefits from the cryptographic security, the integrated circuit only operates relatively simple logic operations. In this way, a highly secure transaction is enabled without requiring significant processing power or time at the integrated circuit.

Abstract: The present invention discloses a method and system for preparing variably configured business communication magnetic templates that may be used in connection with marketing, advertising, promotional and information conveying activities. The method includes the preparation of a magnetic assembly having a top printable surface that is bonded to a magnetic layer. The template intermediates are printed on the printable surface of the substrate and are then cut through the use of electromagnetic energy appearing in one of visible, infrared and ultraviolet light spectrums. In a continuing embodiment, once the templates are printed and cut from the substrate, the templates may then be mounted on the surface of a carrier web for further processing and packaging for delivery to an end user customer.

Abstract: Fuel injectors and methods of fuel injection allowing direct control of the flow of fuel at an intensified pressure to the needle. A valve, typically a spool valve, is placed in the fuel passage between the intensifier actuation piston and the needle, and controlled by a control valve which may be independent of the control valve controlling the coupling of actuation fluid and a vent to the intensifier actuation piston. This allows achievement of intensification before initiating injection, and control of multiple injections in a single injection event while maintaining fuel intensification throughout the duration of the injection event. Various embodiments are disclosed, including embodiments having multiple intensifiers, having control of pressure over the needle, having two stage control valve systems for control of intensifier actuation fluid, and combining control of one of the intensifiers and the valve controlling flow of intensified fuel to the needle for injection.

Abstract: A valve seat is provided upstream from said fuel nozzle orifice. A first valve rod opens and closes the fuel nozzle orifice with axial movements relative to the valve seat. A spring exerts the first valve rod away from the valve seat. A stopper restricts a lift amount of the first valve rod lifted with a force of the spring. A solenoid produces a magnetic field. A second valve rod presses the first valve rod onto the valve seat against the force of the spring when the solenoid is not energized, and for allows the first valve rod to move away from the valve seat with exertions of an extension of the magnetostrictive element and the force of said spring when said solenoid is energized.

Abstract: A sprinkler pressure regulator module has a compact arrangement with a shiftable member having an upper cavity for receiving water flow debris, and a portion of a bypass valve may reciprocate therein. The module includes a stator plate directing water into a drive mechanism, such as a turbine drive mechanism. The shiftable member receives fluid flow from a radially outboard direction and is sealed with a cup portion receiving the shiftable member to define a cup cavity. A module exterior surface is separated from a sprinkler housing to define a vent cavity. A pressure release vent communicates with the cup cavity, a vent channel between the cup portion and the exterior surface, the vent cavity, and the exterior environment. The vent cavity and cup portion provide receptacles for debris deposit. Ribs around an opening of the vent channel with the vent cavity generally prevent debris from entering the vent channel.

Abstract: A method for propulsion that does not consume fuel. The method involves the modification of the dispersion force (i.e., van der Waals) that arises between particles, such as neutral atoms. The method comprises generating a lifting force by subjecting a plurality of confined particles to a trigger acceleration, exposing the particles to an amount of electromagnetic radiation that is sufficient to induce the lifting force to (1) exhibit relatively long-range interactions and (2) increase the momentum of the particles, and then transferring at least a portion of the increase in momentum to a vehicle.

Abstract: The present invention provides an apparatus and a method for compensating for small variations in balance and alignment when supporting and rotating a massive cylindrical drum. The apparatus comprises a self-aligning flange having projections spaced 90° apart about the circumference, or rim, of the flange. The projections are inserted into sliding relationship with elongate slots within a fixed supporting frame so that the plane of the self-aligning flange is allowed to dynamically adjust to small oscillations or movements of the centerline of the rotating drum as it rotates.

Abstract: Holder for elongate objects, in particular pairs of pipes (9). A holder part (1) forms two depressions (6), which are arranged symmetrically on both sides of a coupling part (2), for the purpose of accommodating a pair of pipes. The other holder part (11), which can be connected to the first holder part (1) via a second coupling part (12), has two leaves (14), which extend over the depressions (6) in the coupled state and hold the pipes (9) located therein in a fixed position with elastic prestress. The coupling parts comprise a pin (12) having lateral protrusions (18) and an opening (3), accommodating said pin (12), having latching devices (21, 22), which interact with the protrusions when there is a rotation through 90°.

Abstract: A one-piece cable tie includes a locking head and an attached strap, the locking head being adapted to receive and selectively engage a portion of the strap when the tie is formed into a closed loop. The cable tie additionally includes a fastener formed onto the locking head that is designed for connection with the electrical connector for an oxygen sensor for an automotive emissions control system. The fastener includes a flattened platform that is spaced away from the top surface of the locking head by an inverted T-shaped standoff, the flattened platform being sized and shaped to be slidably disposed within a corresponding slot formed in the electrical connector. A ratchet-shaped projection is formed onto the flat top surface of the platform that serves to retain the platform in place within the slot in the electrical connector.
