Publication number: 20070008087Abstract: An AM/FM modulation scheme is presented for optimizing communications between a remote control device held by a user and a receiving unit installed in a vehicle. Historically, these systems communicated with amplitude modulated signals having good range but poor immunity to ambient random radio frequency noise. Frequency modulated systems provide improved immunity to noise however at the expense of range. The object of this invention is to use two or more modulation modes to combine their advantages. A scheme has been devised whereby circuitry capable of alternately operating in at least two modes is used. The same information is therefore transmitted using two or more modulation techniques in succession. The receiving unit also has circuitry and has listening cycles ensuring eventual synchronization with the transmitting unit. If one mode fails due to distance or ambient noise, the other can then attempt to establish a link.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 27, 2005Publication date: January 11, 2007Inventor: Normand Dery

Publication number: 20070008099Abstract: The present invention is directed to providing systems and methods for remotely monitoring sites to provide real-time information which can readily permit distinguishing false alarms, and which can identify and track the precise location of an alarm. In embodiments, monitoring capabilities such as intrusion/fire detection and tracking capabilities, can be implemented through the use of multistate indicators in an interface which permits information to be transmitted using standard network protocols from a remote site to a monitoring station in near real-time. In embodiments, communications can be handed from the centrally located host monitoring station to a mobile monitoring station (for example, a laptop computer in a responding vehicle, such as a police or fire vehicle). Additional embodiments include the measurement of environmental parameters such as temperature, carbon monoxide and differential air pressure to detect, monitor and manage a fire event.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 15, 2006Publication date: January 11, 2007Applicant: NetTalon Security Systems, Inc.Inventors: David Kimmel, Donald Jones, Ronald Dubois, Daniel Colin

Publication number: 20070008100Abstract: A solid-state digital control and detection apparatus employs electronic sensors to create pulse signals, the width of which is determined by sensing values. The sensing pulses are then compared with setting pulses, the width of which is adjustable, in two types of comparison circuits. Result pulses from one of the comparison circuits are filtered for control and that from the other one are digitalized for display by using counters.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 6, 2006Publication date: January 11, 2007Inventors: Baohua Qi, Mi Yan

Publication number: 20070008103Abstract: A tester for an arc fault circuit interrupter that can selectively simulate and apply electrical arc faults and nuisance loads to at least one device under test (DUT). The tester includes a power supply, a test controller, and test circuitry coupleable to a DUT. AC power input is provided to the DUT and the power supply, which regulates the AC power input to a DC level for powering the test controller. The test circuitry full wave rectifies AC current returning from the DUT, and the test controller controls a switch in the test circuitry. When the switch is on, the AC current flows through the DUT, the full wave rectifier, the load, and the switch to ground. To simulate an arcing condition, the test controller turns the switch on and off at random intervals. To simulate a nuisance load condition, the test controller turns the switch on and off at periodic intervals. In this way, proper operation of the DUT can be verified under both arcing and nuisance load conditions.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 8, 2005Publication date: January 11, 2007Inventors: Christopher Nicolls, Roger Mayer

Publication number: 20070008105Abstract: Method and apparatus for use in setting up workpiece treatment or processing equipment. A disclosed system processes silicon wafers that are treated during processing steps in producing semiconductor integrated circuits. The processing equipment includes a wafer support that supports a wafer in a treatment region during wafer processing. A housing provides a controlled environment within the housing interior for processing the wafer on the wafer support. A mechanical transfer system transports wafers to and from the support. A wafer simulator is used to simulate wafer movement and includes a pressure sensor for monitoring contact between the simulator and the wafer transfer and support equipment. In one illustrated embodiment the wafer simulator is generally circular and includes three equally spaced pressure sensors for monitoring contact with wafer transport and support equipment.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 8, 2005Publication date: January 11, 2007Inventors: Kevin Verrier, David Bernhardt, Jerry Negrotti, Donald Polner
