Abstract: Electrodes are embedded respectively in a first die and a second die. A metal workpiece is placed in a cavity defined between the first die and the second die which mate with each other. Then, a molten metal is poured through a passage into the cavity. The molten metal is solidified into a casting, forming a contact region of the metal workpiece and the casting. Thereafter, an electric current is supplied from a power supply between the electrodes across the contact region. The supplied electric current breaks an oxide film that is present on the surface of the metal workpiece, and joins the metal workpiece and the casting in the contact region.

Abstract: A method for the continuous casting and direct deformation of a metal strand, especially a cast steel strand, includes guiding the metal strand in a curved strand glide after the continuous casting mold, subjecting the strand to a secondary cooling with a liquid coolant, and preparing the strand in an automatically controlled way for the deformation pass at a uniform temperature field in the strand cross-section, such that the cast strand is cooled with a liquid coolant only in the longitudinal sections in which the cast strand is liquid in the cross-section. The temperature of the cast strand is equalized in a transition zone before, in, and/or after a bending-straightening unit by insulation of the exterior surface that is radiating heat, without the use of the liquid coolant, and is further equalized by heat radiation in zones until the temperature field consists of elliptical, horizontally oriented isotherms.

The base end of a third cylinder connected to a second lift wheel arm is connected in parallel with the pair of cylinders. The rod end of the third cylinder is constrained for movement with the rod end of a fourth cylinder also connected to the second wheel arm. The rod end of one of the pair of cylinders is connected in series with the base end of the fourth cylinder to thereby constrain the third and fourth cylinders on the second lift wheel arm to move in unison with the pair of cylinders on the first lift wheel arm. Series cylinder circuits move the wing cylinders in unison with the main frame cylinders to keep the implement level. The hydraulic circuit is also plumbed to retract outer wing wheels during wing fold operations to eliminate outer wing wheel interference.

Abstract: An elbow terminator has a socket in which an electrical probe is disposed. The terminator is insertable onto an electrical bushing such that a tongue of the bushing is received in the socket of the terminator, and the probe of the terminator is electrically coupled to a contact sleeve disposed within the tongue. A latching mechanism produces positive latching between the tongue and socket when the tongue has been inserted to a predescribed depth within the socket. In order to enable an operator to visually observe that the tongue has been inserted to the prescribed depth, the bushing carries a color band which becomes completely disposed (invisible) in the socket when positive latching occurs. Alternatively, the bushing can be provided with gauge tabs which become aligned with a witness line formed on the terminator when positive latching occurs.

Abstract: A circuit board and a circuit apparatus using the same which can prevent displacement and film exfoliation ascribable to thermal expansion, and suppress a drop in reliability at increasing temperatures. The circuit board of the circuit apparatus includes a metal substrate having pierced holes as a core member. Protrusions are formed on the top ends of the pierced holes, and depressions are formed in the bottom ends of the pierced holes. Wiring pattern layers are formed on both sides of this metal substrate via respective insulating layers. In order to establish electrical connection between the wiring pattern layers, a conductor layer which connects the wiring pattern layers is formed through the metal substrate via the pierced holes. The conductor layer thereby establishes electrical conduction between the wiring pattern layers. Furthermore, a semiconductor chip is directly connected to the surface side of the circuit board via solder balls.
