The resistor layer is an amorphous silicon layer doped with nitrogen and phosphorus. Nitrogen concentration in the resistor layer is preferably between about 5 and 15 atomic percent. The presence of nitrogen and phosphorus in the silicon prevents diffusion of Si atoms into metal conductive layers such as aluminum, even up to diffusion and packaging temperatures. The nitrogen and phosphorus also prevent defects from forming at the boundary between the resistor layer and metal conductor. This leads to better control over shorting and improved resistivity in the resistor.

A transparent moisture absorption layer is disposed between the first and second substrates. The transparent moisture absorption layer efficiently absorbs moisture and/or oxygen, and thus the lifetime characteristics of the organic light-emitting device are improved. The transparent moisture absorption layer has a transmittance of about 85% or higher with respect to visible light. The layer has a thickness of about 10 to about 60,000 nm and a refractive index of about 1.45 to about 1.65 in an inert and/air atmosphere. The layer is formed on the second substrate by using chemical vapor deposition or physical vapor deposition.

Abstract: In an electron tube, an insulating tube protrudes inside an envelope. One end of the insulating tube is connected to the envelope. An avalanche photo diode (APD) is provided on the other end of the insulating tube. A ground voltage is applied to the envelope and a positive high voltage is applied to the APD. Photoelectrons which are emitted in response to an incident light on a photocathode are converged by an electrical field in the envelope and enter the APD. Thereafter, the incident photoelectrons are amplified and detected. Since a positive high voltage is not exposed to the envelope, the electron tube can easily be handled and is excellent in safety.
