Abstract: Methods for treating aluminum in a furnace. An aluminum charge is introduced into a furnace and melted with heat from at least one burner. The burner is supplied with at least one oxidizer and at least one fuel. The oxidizer is made up of at least 10% oxygen by volume. The concentration of a first gas is measured in the furnace atmosphere or in a flue gas exiting the furnace. The oxidation of the molten aluminum is then reduced by holding the flow rate of the oxidizer steady while varying the flow rate of the fuel, according to the concentration of a second gas in the furnace or in the flue gas exiting the furnace. The concentration of the second gas is determined by comparing the measured species concentration and the intrinsic concentration which would be present absent the aluminum charge.

Abstract: Automatic dosage unit (1) comprising storage unit (2), conic grinder driven by a motor, identification unit, funnel, fastener, and locking device, arranged to grind a programmed amount of a given product directly into a specific collection unit. E.g. in connection with the storage unit (2) being filled with coffee beans, a caffetier is inserted into the fastening mechanism, whereupon the dosage unit automatically registers the size of the caffetier and a pre-programmed amount of coffee is ground directly into the caffetier. The new in this invention is that it can identify the size of the collection unit, that the product is ground directly into the collection unit by means of a hollow drive shaft, that the storage unit is opened upon installation and closed upon de-installation, as well as that the collection unit is fastened by the dosage unit for the entire duration of the grinding process.

Abstract: A closure mechanism particularly useful in a brewing device includes a cover member rotatably disposed above the brewing device. A slider member is slidably disposed within an interior cavity of the cover member and has one or more tabs which may extend outside of the interior cavity. The brewing device has one or more receptacles for receiving the tabs when the cover member is closed. A lid member on top of the cover member may push the tabs into the receptacles through a link member. A release arm is disposed within the brewing device and has at least one blocker which releasably holds a tab of the slider member within a receptacle when the cover member is closed.

Abstract: An automatic bread maker capable of improving the quality of bread made by the automatic bread maker and a bread making method using such automatic bread maker are provided. When wheat flour is used as the main bread ingredient, the automatic bread maker successively performs a kneading process, a primary fermentation process, a degassing process, a dough resting process, a dough rounding process, a shaping and fermenting process, a baking process, and a keep-warm process. When rice flour is used in place of wheat flour as the main bread ingredient, the automatic bread maker successively performs a kneading process, a dough resting process, a dough rounding process, a shaping and fermenting process, a baking process, and a keep-warm process. In either case, a stirring blade is operated intermittently in the last part of the kneading process to beat the bread dough against the inner wall of a pan.

Abstract: In one aspect of the invention, a skewer for flavoring food includes flavoring that has an essential oil to enhance or modify the flavor of the food. An essential oil is an oil that is volatile, i.e. that rapidly evaporates, and thus can be easily absorbed by many different materials. The skewer also includes a body operable to impale food and that has an absorbent material that includes a surface that contacts the food when the body impales the food. With an essential oil, the flavoring is easily absorbed by the absorbent material and easily migrates to the surface when the food is impaled by the body. Thus, the skewer can release an adequate amount of flavoring more consistently throughout the time that the food cooks or contacts the skewer.

Abstract: An apparatus for preparing a rolled food product, such as sushi. The apparatus has a container having a first end and a second end, wherein at least the first end has one aperture. The container is positionable between a closed position, defining a hollow interior space, and an open position, presenting a plurality of cavities. Each of the cavities can receive food material such as rice. There is also a plunger assembly that passes the aperture when the container is in the closed position. The plunger assembly is then used to compress the food material in the hollow interior space to form a roll having a desired consistency.
