The rare-to-dense microstructures are formed in two regions; one is formed in the primary microchannel and used to transport microfluids, and the other is formed in the microfluid bifurcation region. When different microfluids flow through the microfluid bifurcation region, the microfluids will separate automatically to their own secondary microchannels according to the surface energy gradient. The apparatus is adapted to act on a solidified extrudate by causing it to be pulled downstream in the direction of its longitudinal axis while simultaneously being rotated about its axis. A circumferential twisting and a downstream pulling are simultaneously applied to a cooled and solidified extrudate. This is accomplished with a single piece of apparatus as shown. Thus, by twisting the solidified extrudate downstream both a circumferential and an axial component are imparted to the solidified extrudate. This, in turn, imparts a longitudinal and a circumferential movement to the molten extrudate as it emerges from an extruder die before it is fully solidified. The thus twisted molten extrudate is the cooled and solidified in its twisted condition.

First and second valve assemblies are provided in the supply-chain to monitor, independent of one another, the canister pressures at the corresponding first and second fill stations. The canister pressures represent the pressure within corresponding canisters.

Abstract: A clamp apparatus for retaining coaxial components on a shaft of a wood fragmenting rotor assembly includes two interconnectable clamp segments having respective recesses that define a receptacle for receiving a rotor assembly shaft when the clamp segments are interconnected and moved toward one another. Clamp camming surfaces extend radially inwardly from at least a portion of each of the respective recesses and engage a shaft camming surface of a rotor assembly shaft as the clamp segments are moved toward one another about the shaft. A closure moves the clamp segments toward each other, bringing the clamp camming surfaces into engagement with shaft camming surface of the rotor assembly and producing a camming action between the clamp camming surfaces and the shaft camming surface that drives the clamp segments axially inward along the shaft, which drives the coaxial rotor assembly components into desired respective axial abutting positions along the shaft.

The knife may be sharpened by grinding the cutting face to expose a new cutting face. The back surface is in the shape of the profile, therefore each new cutting face includes a cutting edge with a substantially similar profile. Abstract: A wood chipper includes a control system for controlling feed wheel rotation and engine operation to provide safety features and a fuel-saving mechanism. The control system allows the engine to start only when the feed wheel is in neutral; stops and/or reverses rotation of the feed wheel in response to an increased load on the engine; and dethrottles the engine if the feed wheel remains in neutral for a predetermined period of time. A pair of electric switches are activatable by the feed bar whereby an electronic control unit (ECU) can determine the position of the feed bar based on activation or non-activation of the switches and control the feed wheel and engine in light thereof. The ECU controls a pair of directional control valves via respective solenoids to control flow of hydraulic fluid to control rotation of a feed motor which drives the feed wheel.
