Abstract: In one embodiment, a tool used for creating grooves in a microreplication tool is described. The tool includes a mounting structure and a multi-tipped diamond mounted in the mounting structure. The different tips of the diamond may correspond to different grooves to be created in the microreplication tool. In this manner, the creation of a microreplication tool using a diamond can be simplified and/or improved.

Abstract: In a process and apparatus for cutting a sheet material, one or more sheets of the material are placed over a die attached to a die board. A cutting pad is placed over the sheet material. Seals are placed around or between the die board and cutting pad to create an enclosure. A vacuum is created in the enclosure or between the die board and cutting pad so as to draw the die board and cutting pad together and compress the sheets of material. The resulting assembly is passed through a roller press to cut the sheets of material. A process or apparatus for mounting dies to a die board or stripping scrap from between dies and a quick release fastener are also described.

Abstract: A system for cutting and wrapping blocks of synthetic material enables a material block to be pre-cut into a form substantially ready to be used as packaging filler while maintaining the original compact block shape for shipping and storage. In one aspect, the system takes synthetic material blocks, such as thermoplastic blocks, and sequentially drives the blocks through a cutting mechanism that cuts the blocks in two directions to form thermoplastic strips. The thermoplastic strips are held together in the original geometric form of the block through the cutting process, and thereafter a rotating wrapper applies a wrapping material to the pre-cut thermoplastic block secure the pre-cut block in the original geometric form. A block or log magazine sequentially positions multiple synthetic material blocks prior to being driven through the cutting mechanism.

Abstract: A power saw that may be flexibly configured to perform multiple cutting functions is provided by attaching a saw assembly to a base assembly with an offset support that provides a clear path in line with the saw blade, thereby providing a miter saw, a table saw or a radial arm saw as desired by the user. In a selected embodiment, the height of the offset support is adjustable to make dado cuts. In addition, a tilt mechanism is mounted at the top of the offset support to provide an “apparent” tilt axis neat the top surface of the turntable, thereby eliminating an axle near the turntable top surface. Materials being cut by the saw assembly are guided by one or more fences. For example, a first fence used for miter cuts may be moved or removed during table cut operations. Alternatively, a reversible fence may be used for miter cuts when configured and affixed to the base assembly in a first position, and may be used for table or radial cuts when configured and affixed to the base assembly in a second position.

Abstract: An improved method and apparatus are disclosed to permit real time, distributed performance by multiple musicians at remote locations, and for recording that collaboration. The latency of the communication channel is transferred to the behavior of the local instrument so that a natural accommodation is made by the musician. This allows musical events that actually occur simultaneously at remote locations to be played together at each location, though not necessarily simultaneously at all locations. This allows locations having low latency connections to retain some of their advantage. Artifacts resulting from an unreliable communication channel, for instance dropouts and jitter, are eliminated in the recorded performance. Limitations of communications bandwidth are managed in real time, with full fidelity restored in the recording.

Abstract: Water discharged at a top region of an eliminator flows, e.g., by gravity into, along, and between the portions of the eliminator while an air flow also travels therein, e.g., horizontally and transverse to the water flow. As the air flow encounters the water, e.g., strikes portions of the eliminator having water flowing downward therealong or encounters water falling between portions of the eliminator, contaminants pass from the air flow to the water flow. The air flow, relieved of certain contaminants, continues onward and the water flow collects at the bottom of the eliminator for filtration and re-circulation through the eliminator.

Abstract: A hydrogen storage and release material is provided in the form of a supportive host component that carries or contains a hydrogen absorbing guest material. Metal compounds, such as oxides, carbides, nitrides, or the like, are prepared to carry polyaromatic molecules that absorb hydrogen in conjugated double bonds. Examples of suitable guest-host materials include layers of vanadium oxide with interacted layers of polyaniline or polythiophene. Dopant elements, like nickel, in the host oxide can enhance hydrogen absorption and de-sorption in the host material.

Abstract: An in-vehicle coffee maker includes a coffee mug and a brewing station that receives the mug, and has a lid that secures the mug therein. A pump supplies water to the lid from a water reservoir via a water line. A heating element heats the water to a predetermined temperature. The mug includes a mug portion, a drink cap, and a pod retainer. The drink cap includes a pod chamber to hold coffee grounds, and the pod retainer secures the coffee grounds therein. The pod retainer includes a opening for water to pass through, into the pod chamber, which in turn includes an opening for water to drain downward into the mug. The lid of the brewing station includes a nozzle that forms a sealed engagement with the opening in the pod retainer so water supplied from the reservoir to the lid flows into the pod chamber.
