Abstract: A wrench tool is described which comprises an orifice that is formed to control the rotation of a hexagonal work piece. The orifice is substantially cylindrical and includes an array of only eighteen principle longitudinal grooves positioned therein that substantially form a symmetrical pattern around an imaginary central axis. The eighteen grooves are formed and spaced apart so as to create an array of only eighteen principle longitudinal protuberances which also substantially form a symmetrical pattern around the imaginary central axis for engagement with the work piece. The protuberances are positioned apart relative to each other by predetermined distances whereas the least distance between any eight adjacent protuberances is less than the least distance between any ten adjacent protuberances.

Abstract: The extendable socket extension is a tool that allows the user to be able to reach into small, tight places to either attach or remove bolts or screws. A first piece and a second piece are slideably connected. By using a thumb release, the second piece can slide in or out to a desired length. Once the desired length is reached the thumb release engages a locking pin holding the first and second piece to the desired length. A ratchet is then attached to the first piece and a socket wrench is attached to the second piece. The socket wrench is then attached to the bolt or screw to be inserted and removed and is rotated into or out of the desired location by the ratchet.

  • Publication number: 20070044598
Abstract: A retainer for constraining slidable movement of a sleeve along a shaft between open and closed positions. An end cap is fixed on the sleeve's rearward end, forming a recess between the sleeve's rearward end and the end cap. The retainer is slidable in and along the sleeve. A pair of flexible, transversely opposed ribs are provided at the retainer's rearward end. A lug projects outwardly from each rib's rearward end. A spring normally biases the ribs outwardly, biasing the lugs into the recess when the sleeve is closed to retain the sleeve in the closed position. When the sleeve is closed, application of a force to move the end cap rearwardly away from the shaft compresses the lugs inwardly, compressing the ribs against the spring and overcoming the spring's outward bias, such that the lugs circumscribe a reduced circumference permitting slidable movement of the lugs through the sleeve.

Abstract: The distance between the clamps at opposed ends of a shoulder rest bridge adjustable in infinitely fine increments by utilizing a pressure plate which, in an engaged mode, presses a brake member made from an elastomer, particularly soft rubber, against the underside of the bridge body. The pressure plate is actuated by a pivotable latch having a lever and co-operating with a non-rotatable bearing member having a ramp surface complementary in the direction of incline and in pitch with the ramp surface of the pivotable latch. A supplementary camming mechanism provides, upon hand displacement of one of the clamps towards the other into engagement by both with the instrument, an additional motion of the one clamp toward the instrument thus increasing the clamping force holding the shoulder rest to an instrument.

Abstract: A comfort cushion apparatus is provided for a guitar which has a notch in the guitar body. The apparatus includes a cushion support attached to the notch and fills up the notch in the guitar body. A cushion is attached to the cushion support. The notch is present in the guitar body so that the comfort cushion apparatus serves as an armrest when fitted into the notch. The armrest can make guitar playing more comfortable and more accessible for children who are in between junior and full size guitars. In accordance with another aspect of the invention, a method is provided for making a guitar which has a comfort cushion, the method includes the steps of: obtaining a guitar; cutting a notch out the guitar body; fixing a comfort cushion support in the notch; and attaching a cushion to the cushion support.

The securing member is attached to a lower flute surface for resting of a thumb of the flute player, and has a base segment defining a rear pad region and having a front lateral edge in frictional engagement with a front flute surface. The resisting member includes a fulcrum region joined with a rear lateral edge of the base segment, a weight end extending outward from the fulcrum region, and a tab end extending from the fulcrum region and away from the flute axis. The tab end and the rear pad region define a thumb abutting area for application of forces to prevent undesirable rotation of the flute about the flute axis and to prevent undesirable downward displacement and deviation of the flute during playing.

Abstract: A mouthpiece for a woodwind instrument, such as a saxophone has a tubular body, with a front and a rear portion, each having a respective passage. The front portion has an opening that is at least partially covered by a reed. The front passage is wider then the opening. The front passage also has a bottom wall that descends toward the rear portion. The bottom wall has three zones, including a first zone disposed at a shallow angle with respect to the reed, a second zone with sharper angle then the first, and an end zone. The resulting mouthpiece generates smoother and fuller sounds then the prior art mouthpieces while at the same time projecting sounds more effective.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for limiting which player pianos can properly play notes within a media file or stream without playing additional “bad notes” encoded in the stream for disrupting the playback of that musical composition so as to prevent playback on unauthorized systems. Bad notes are encoded within a file or stream containing the proper “good notes” of the composition along with control commands to allow identifying the bad notes (e.g., by location, relative position, characteristics and so forth). Player pianos of a first manufacturer, having the proper programming, properly decode the control commands to locate the bad notes and prevent them from being played back with the good notes, therein properly rendering the musical composition. Player pianos from other manufacturers will play all the notes thus obfuscating the playback of the musical composition. Fidelity of playback on authorized system is not affected.

Abstract: For pattern recognition in acoustic recordings, a recorded signal is decomposed into individual frequency ranges and subsequently transformed for spectral decomposition into at least one coefficient file. Here, a first transformation optimized with respect to the frequency resolution and a second transformation optimized with respect to the time resolution take place in parallel. On the basis of the coefficient file, a harmonic decomposition with pattern assignment is effected. The identified patterns can subsequently be modified and further used, for example, in the form of graphic representation or acoustic playback.
