Abstract: A firefighter's helmet comprising an inner protective shell configured to be worn on its own as a helmet and an outer protective shell configured to be fitted over the inner shell and realizably retained thereon, a retaining mechanism for retaining the inner shell in the outer shell, wherein the retaining mechanism is moveable by a user whilst wearing the inner shell between a first position in which the retaining mechanism engages a said shell substantially to prevent relative movement between the two shells, and a second position in which the retaining mechanism permits relative movement of the shells whereby allowing the donning or doffing of the outer shell by the user.

Abstract: An anti-glare protection device for a welding mask includes a transmission control circuit for determining a darkening signal from a control signal, a welding activity detection circuit (6) for detecting a welding activity, based on the output of a first sensor circuit. The welding activity detection circuit is arranged to control, via an activation switch, whether either the darkening signal or a signal corresponding to an undarkened optical filter is input to a filter drive circuit. The filter drive circuit drives a controllable optical filter to a transmission value according to the signal input to the filter drive circuit. A manual input device allows a user to manually adjust a user selected signal. A second sensor circuit determines a sensed signal. A manually operable mode selection switch for selecting either, in a manual mode, the user selected signal or, in an automatic mode, the sensed signal to be used as the control signal to the transmission control circuit.

Abstract: A welding helmet having an auto-darkening welding filter comprises a viewing module and a control module attached to the helmet separate from the viewing module. In a first embodiment a control module is attached to a side of the welding helmet having a pair of variable resistor shafts extending through the side housing of welding helmet for adjustment of the auto-darkening viewing module by a user without removing the welding helmet from in front of the user's eyes. In a second embodiment the control module is attached to the inside of the helmet below the auto-darkening viewing module, and the control module comprises switches integrated on a surface of the control module which are operated by the user.

Abstract: A safety vest is sized to be worn by a human, wherein the vest has a front and back and left and right sides each having a shoulder portion. An EL strip is provided on each side of the vest extending from the bottom of the vest upwards toward the shoulder portion. A power source is supported by the vest and connected to the EL lamp strips to supply electrical energy to the strips so that they emit EL light, wherein the EL light emitted by the EL strip is a safety yellow color, and wherein other portions of the vest are a safety orange color. Further safety articles of clothing and devices are also described.

Abstract: A one-piece garment with elastic bands threaded through the binding at the leg openings that allows for custom fitting of the garment. The contraction of the elastic bands through the cord-lock fastener creates a drawstring effect and provides a gathering force upon the garment, which is held securely in place with the cord-lock fastener so that the lower portion of the one-piece bodysuit thereby shortens in length and tightens around the legs to form a snug fit. Once the desired length is attained, the elastic bands and the cord-lock fastener are stored in the back flap of the crotch in a separate compartment, or pocket, held securely closed during wear with a strip of hook and loop fastener. The one-piece bodysuit can be expanded as needed by releasing the cord-lock fastener and pulling the elastic bands back through the cord-lock fastener to loosen the gathered fabric, thereby extending the crotch length of the garment and the diameter of the leg openings.

Abstract: The disclosure describes vapor permeable retroreflective material for use on protective garments. The material may be formed in a non-continuous pattern that provides a high-level of retroreflective brightness, yet also provides adequate permeability to prevent exposure to trapped thermal energy and heated moisture. The non-continuous retroreflective pattern may include retroreflective regions and non-retroreflective regions arranged such that thermal decay through the protective garment is not substantially decreased in the regions corresponding to the retroreflective material. Rather, vapor permeation and thermal decay through the garment may be substantially the same as if the retroreflective material was not present.

Abstract: An adjustable cap seamed with silicon tape(s) is formed of a peak, a crown portion and a sweatband which is provided on the inner side of the crown portion sewn integrally with a silicon tape inside of the lower peripheral edge portion of the crown portion, so that the lower peripheral edge portion can be freely stretched with even gathers formed thereon. Given that the crown portion is made of non-stretchable fabrics which are relatively economical than those stretchable, the cap with stretchable lower peripheral edge not only can fit a range of head sizes, but also can efficiently reduce the production cost.

Abstract: The invention relates to a long cap (1) which is designed to protect the hair. The inventive cap comprises two essentially-parallelepiped side walls which are fixed to one another along one of the long sides (2) and shorts sides (3) thereof, such as to define: a first pouch (4) which is disposed at the proximal end of the cap, said first pouch forming a cap; and a second pouch (5) which is disposed at the distal end of the cap, said second pouch forming a receptacle for the floating mass of hair (6). The invention is characterised in that the two ends thereof are provided with complementary fixing means (9) which can be brought into contact with one another in order to close the cap around the head after the hair has been placed therein. For said purpose, the distal end is rotated by 180° around the longitudinal axis of the cap and subsequently folded back over the proximal end such as to cover same.

Solution: to solve the problems, an improved sunshade for a hat or a sun visor cap is disclosed. An alternative to the battery is a cord connecting to the building electrical power supply.

Abstract: A toilet defines an open topped bowl and carries a toilet seat ring with a central opening that aligns with the open topped bowl. A shield is joined to the bottom of the seat ring, positioned at the front inner edge of the seat ring, such that the shield covers any gap between the seat and the bowl from inside the bowl. The shield may be integrally formed with the toilet seat ring or separately formed and later attached. A separately formed shield includes an arcuate shield wall and fastening wall extending from one face of the shield wall, i.e., the convex face. The fastening wall establishes a planar surface for attachment against the bottom of the seat ring. The arc of the shield wall is conformable to the arc of the seat ring without distorting the plane of the fastening wall.

Abstract: A soaking basin is provided having a disposable liner and a base unit. The liner defines an air chamber and a plurality of apertures defined in a floor of the liner. The base unit includes an air blower system connected to the liner such that air is forced out the apertures of the liner into the liquid. The liner can further include a water-soluble coating of soaking additives adhered thereto. In this manner, the liner and the base unit cooperatively provide a therapeutic soak, even in a salon setting, without sacrificing hygienic practices. Moreover, the basin is cost-effective to manufacture and use.

Abstract: The swirl sink is a wash basin having a molded lip, wherein the molded lip comprises a set of holes located at specified intervals. Each hole would have an angled channel that allows the water to flow out of the hole creating a swirling spiraling effect. Each hole would connect to a flexible water line by way of nipple. Once the water is turned on at the faucet, the water would be channeled through the flexible water line by a lever that would be lifted to cause the water to flow through the flexible water line and lowered to shut off the water flow. When the water is flowing through the flexible water line it would be at a reduced pressure thereby preventing splashing when exiting the angled channels into the sink.

Abstract: A P-trap drainage device having a tubular body and a plurality of internal angled vanes which direct water flow in a circular or whirlpool pattern has a short coupling portion having a coupling thereon, and an extension portion dimensioned and configured to fit within standard sizes of plumbing pipes. In use, the device causes vertically flowing water coming from the drain to the P-trap to “swirl”, increasing the efficiency of flow. The shortness of the coupling portion allows easier use of the device in typically cramped conditions.
