Abstract: An air bag, a control device and a rider or operator removal detecting part are disposed in an operator's jacket. An air bag device body includes air inflating chambers, an ECU, a battery, a radio receiver, a main switch and a warning device incorporated into the jacket. In response to a synchronizing signal transmitted from a vehicle-body-side radio transmitter, a vehicle-body-side electric wave signal generating part and a rider-side reference waveform signal generating part, respectively, generate an electric wave signal and a comparison signal in a synchronized state with a signal comparing part determining a phase difference between both signals. When a delay quantity or a change of the delay quantity of the electric wave signal from the electric wave signal generating part is increased, the ECU detects a removal of a rider for informing an air bag drive part.

Abstract: A safety system intended for an occupant of a motor vehicle is in the form of a protective bag which can be filled with gas. In a moved-in condition, the bag is folded together in a packet and, in an inflated condition, the bag extends along an interior side of a side window in order to protect a head region of an adjacent sitting occupant against an impact. To improve functioning of the safety device and reduce a space requirement, the packet is fully immersed in a door body of the door, and the protective bag unfolds during inflation from the door body, in a direction of a roof, essentially along the door window.

An air bag and a removal detecting part for detecting a rider removal from a vehicle body are incorporated in a rider jacket. An inclination sensor for detecting an inclination of the vehicle body of a motorcycle is provided. An angle acceleration calculating part for calculating the inclination angle acceleration of the vehicle body calculates the inclination angle acceleration based on a plurality of detected inclination angles. Abstract: An airbag canister vent is attached to or resides within an airbag module of an automobile. The module has a housing, within which resides a gas generator, an airbag, a tether cord, and a housing vent valve configured to close in accordance with the tether length that connects the airbag and the housing vent valve. The tension or any slack in the tether is governed by the discharge distance of the airbag from the canister. The canister vent may be a rotating disk that gradually closes as the airbag moves toward a seat occupant or a movable ball valve with a tether pin that remains open until the bag is discharged far enough from the canister to pull a tether pin from the ball causing the pressurized gas in the canister to forcibly lodge the ball against the vent hole wall thereby forming a seal and closing the valve.

Abstract: A seat belt height adjuster for anchoring a seat belt is provided in a preferred form with three relatively simple component parts comprising a slider, a rail, and a bent spring. One end of the slider is biased by the bent spring so that a portion of the slider is spaced from the rail and to position locking protrusions on the slider body into at least one opening in the rail to lock the height adjuster at the desired height position. To adjust the location of the slider along the rail, a pushing force on the one end of the slider compresses the spring and removes the locking protrusions from the rail opening thereby allowing sliding of the slider along the rail. The slider pivots about its other end which is engaging the rail. Upon release of the pushing force, the spring expands and biases the locking protrusion into a rail opening. The spring may be a simple V or U-shaped, leaf spring and the slider may be a single, integral piece of metal.

The spigot end of one pipe which is received within a bell coupler for an adjoining pipe terminates in a small annular bed-forming rib which forms a gasket bed that holds a gasket compressed against a radially extending gasket sealing surface of the bell coupler. Inward protruding latches formed in the bell coupler engage the adjoining section of corrugated pipe to resist axial separation and hold the gasket compressed against the sealing surface of the bell coupler. The lift-assistance device may be a hydraulically powered device to substantially lift the cap from the base providing an opening through which a vehicle may be may be moved. The vehicle port may include a window. The cap and base may be fiberglass. The coupling of the perimeter edges of the cap and the base may be substantially impervious to water. The coupling of the perimeter edges of the cap and base may allow the passage of moisture.

An expandable material, such as an epoxy-based reinforcing foam, is disposed on the skeleton member. Once the system is attached to the frame, the foam expands and cures during an automobile assembly operation, bonding the reinforcement system to the frame. As a result, the reinforcement system provides enhanced load distribution over the vehicle frame without adding excessive weight.

Abstract: A control apparatus rotates a drive motor reversely to reverse the moving direction of a roof glass when movement of the roof glass is obstructed by a foreign matter caught in the roof glass while the roof glass is moving toward the closing position, sets a home position of the roof glass by setting the count number to a predetermined value with the roof glass placed in a predetermined position. The control apparatus performs setting of the home position again when the number of times a reverse action of the roof glass originated from catching of the foreign matter in the roof glass has been carried out becomes equal to or greater than a specified number. An abnormality detecting device detects an abnormality in which the reverse action of the roof glass is not carried out at the time when the movement of the roof glass is obstructed, when the abnormality has occurred. When the abnormality is detected, the control apparatus avoids setting the home position again.

Abstract: A car seat alarm has an on/off switch that is initiated by clicking the latch on the car seat. (“Pumpkin” or removable carrier infant seats may use a two-part switch.) Initiating the circuit when clicking the child into the seat would conserve battery life. The device would be off when the seat is unlocked. Additionally, if an occasion arose where a parent or caregiver were sitting in the vehicle with a child and needed to have the engine off, that parent or caregiver would simply need to unclick or unlock the child car seat restraint to deactivate the device. A learning or programmable chip can be programmed to the same frequency as the panic button on the key fob. This may be done by pressing the panic button on the key fob in close proximity to the learning circuit on the seat.
