Abstract: Coil arrangements, systems, and methods are provided which are capable of facilitating information for imaging an anatomical structure. The arrangement may include two different coils. The first coil can produce a magnetic field in one direction and the second coil can produce a magnetic field in a second direction. The flux of the magnetic field of the first coil may be oriented at an angle other than zero and 180 degrees relative to the flux of the magnetic field of the second coil. In further exemplary embodiments, the coil elements may be in ring shapes. A shield may also be included in the arrangement and may be associate with the first and/or second coil. Connected to the coil arrangement may be a decoupling interface arrangement, which acts as an interface between the MRI scanner and the coil arrangement to decouple the coils.

For this purpose, when updating one software part associated with an image processing job, it is determined whether a standby job as a job contains a software part to be updated. If it is determined that the standby job does not contain any software part to be updated, the software part is updated. If it is determined that the standby job contains the software part to be updated but a software part in another image processing apparatus on the network can replace the software part to be updated, software parts which execute the job are reconstructed to update the target software part. If it is determined that no alternative image processing apparatus exists, the update request is saved and held.

The biometric sensor is protected by being positioned on a shield, and such that the sensor is not exposed to damage by being on the front face of the door lock. The shield extends vertically downwardly from the remainder of the front face of the door lock, and the sensor is mounted to an inner face of the shield. Thus, the sensor is spaced away from a door when the door lock is mounted on a door. A finger may be inserted into a space between the sensor and the door, and the sensor can then capture information about the fingerprint. This information can be compared to expected fingerprints, and entry into a building can be granted based upon a recognition of this fingerprint.

Abstract: A magnetomechanical resonance element or marker strip with facilitated performance based on an amorphous magnetostrictive alloy ribbon is utilized in an electronic article surveillance marker. A curvature along the element's length direction is introduced during ribbon fabrication with a different radius of curvature, which increases the resonance performance with minimal loss in the magneto-mechanical circuit, and more particularly, in a marker utilizing a plurality of resonating elements or marker strips. A marker is fabricated utilizing the resonance element or elements and is utilized in an electronic article surveillance system.

Abstract: A transceiver for reading RFID tags has a ferrite core antenna substantially circular in cross-section having a transmitting and receiving face producing substantially no RF energy below a plane of the transmitting and receiving face outside a peripheral surface of the ferrite core. A portion of the transceiver enclosure which passes through a mounting panel opening functions as light pipe for conducting LED indicator light in a substantially radially symmetrical manner to illuminate a sensing surface of the transceiver.

The body and the cover are typically molded plastic. The engagement of the cover to the body may be via an elongated alignment ridge coupled in slideable manner in an elongated mating groove substantially along the major axis of the body. The cover may be secured engaged with the cover by a fastener that could include a releasable latch engaged with a catch. The fob could further include an attachment device such as a key ring to couple the fob to other personal items.

Abstract: Apparatus for monitoring and discouraging trichotillomania and other unwanted behaviors includes a proximity detector, an event logger, and a user input facilitating event characterization. The proximity detector includes a sensor and an element associated with the arm, hand, finger, head or other user body part. The proximity detector is operative to generate an output signal in the event that the element has physically moved to within a predetermined distance relative to the sensor. The apparatus further includes a device operative to alert the user in response to the output signal generated by the proximity detector. Additional circuitry is provided enabling events to be examined and reviewed. Such circuitry would include a memory for storing information associated with alert events and an interface allowing the events to be examined and reviewed on a personal computer, for example. The provision of a real-time clock further enables date or time information to be stored in conjunction with an event.

Abstract: A vigilance monitoring system to determine the alertness of a driver of a vehicle. The system uses one or multiple sensors located at the driver-vehicle interface (steering wheel, accelerator, brakes). The sensor monitors the magnitude and frequency of the force (or displacement) exerted by a driver at the driver interface. A time derivative of the force or displacement profile is created. The variability of the time derivative of the force/displacement data from the general trend of the data as obtained by an optimized moving average of the data. An intelligent control system measures the variability and compares with an alertness rating scale to determine the alertness score of the driver and issue warning signals and actions as appropriate.
