Abstract: In a Computer Telephony Integration environment, to reduce the risk of inadvertent or fraudulent registration of the association of a user's computer terminal with the wrong telephone, i.e. one other than the telephone adjacent to the computer terminal or the user's mobile telephone, a host computer instructs the user via a screen display to call a particular extension of a CTI-enabled communications switching system. When a call to that extension is detected, the communications switching system reports this to the host computer which stores a set of at least one characteristics of the calling telephone terminal including a unique terminal identifier. The user is then provided with a second telephone number via the computer terminal associated with the telephone terminal which was detected as having dialled the first number.

A set of cooperating layers including a transport layer, a transaction layer and a transaction user core layer. Various processes in these layers index into an associated configuration database designed in accordance with the present invention. The configuration database includes plurality of “mini-stacks.” When a particular transaction is being processed by one of the layers of the Open SIP Protocol Stack, PPL state machines that are to be utilized for that process are “loaded” with the appropriate information from the mini-stack for that attribute. Techniques for transaction processing and editing state machines are also provided by the Open SIP Protocol Stack of the present invention. The Open SIP Protocol Stack may be deployed in a SIP/PSTN gateway, a SIP Application Server, a SIP Media Server, a SIP Redirect Server and a SIP Registrar.

Abstract: During the output of data and distribution services, user data streams frequently transferred to a corresponding communication device (i.e. information output system and/or the distribution system) are possibly irrelevant to the server. Despite this, resources for the processing of incoming useful data flows inside the communication device are provided in many cases on account of compatibility grounds. As a result, energy is reduced in the communication device. According to the invention, in order to reduce the efforts involved in processing useful data transferred in the direction of the communication device, at least one part of useful data is discarded prior to the implementation of working steps provided for the processing of useful data.

Abstract: Multicast information contained in a request from an IP TV set top box for video content to an IGMP manager is passed to an SA processor to perform a lookup of an SA table. A result of the lookup is the frequency of the downstream legacy channel over which the requested content is being delivered from an edge QAM device. The SA processor instructs a legacy QAM tuner to tune the determined frequency. The IGMP manager selects packets corresponding to the request content based on a program identifier that is associated with the multicast address in the SA table. As selected packets are received by the IGMP manager, multicast address information is placed into them, and they are passed on from the manager to the IP TV set top box. The IP TV set top box receives the requested content packets based on the multicast address.

Abstract: A re-sequencing system offloads the cycle intensive task of re-sequencing TCP packets from host memory using a partial offload engine to re-sequence out-of-sequence data packets. However, as opposed to re-ordering the actual data packets, no actual data copy is needed. Instead, packet descriptors associated with each data packet are generated, and it is the packet descriptors that are re-sequenced. The data packets themselves are temporarily stored in packet buffers while the packet descriptors are sorted into sequence. The re-sequencing system preferably re-sequences a data stream of TCP data packets received from an ethernet network. The re-sequencing system is implemented within a computing device, preferably a personal computer or a server.

Abstract: In preferred embodiments, a wireless network system features buffering of data packets transmitted to mobile nodes. The system is transparent to the mobile node, so that the mobile node is not required to request service from the network, or negotiate service parameters with the network. An EAPOL-Start and binding update messages initiate and terminate the buffering, and also commence pre-authentication and smooth handoff reporting, respectively.

Abstract: A system maintains quality of service of a wireless network. The system includes a first layer, a second layer, and a third layer. The first layer configures a directional antenna to transmit and receive in particular sectors based on antenna gain, transmission power, and beam width. The second layer communicates a direction and range to the first layer. The third layer maintains information summarizing connectivity between a plurality of nodes. The third layer determines whether to extend the range of the signal from a predetermined default range to an extended range.

Abstract: System for reordering sequenced based packets in a switching network. The system includes time stamp logic that operates to associate a receive time indicator with each received data packet. The system also includes Enqueue logic that operates to compute an expiration time for each received packet based on the receive time indicator, and stores the expiration time and the sequence identifier for each received packet into a table. Dequeue logic operates to read the table to determine the received data packets to output in an output stream so that the received data packets are output in a selected order. The Dequeue logic also operates to determine a true expiration time for one or more unreceived data packets, and if the true expiration time for a selected unreceived data packet is reached, the Dequeue logic operates to omit the selected unreceived data packet from the output stream.

Abstract: A receiver includes a sample rate converter configured to receive an input data stream having a variable data rate and to output a data stream having a fixed data rate. In some embodiments, the input data stream corresponds to digital video, digital audio and/or metadata, while in other embodiments the input data stream corresponds to any digital data stream that needs to be data rate converted for use by a receiving device. The sample rate converter is configured to track an externally sourced reference time signal corresponding to the input data stream.

Abstract: An association table associates each program stream of a plurality of program streams with a MAC domain, with a channel frequency and with a multicast address. If a subscriber device selects a content program different from a current program, a determination is made whether the new program is serviced by a different MAC domain than the one serving the current program. If the selected new program is not serviced by the same domain that is serving the current program stream(s), the current MAC domain is informed that the subscriber device is ending the session therewith, the new frequency is tuned by the subscriber device and new content is received immediately after the new frequency is tuned. The subscriber device registers with the new MAC domain after receipt of new content has begun.

Abstract: A method for stream synchronization of real-time multimedia transport over a packet network, in which the multimedia includes a first stream and a second stream which are buffered and played through buffers. The method includes: measuring average transport delays of the first and second streams; measuring transport delay jitters of the first and second streams; and calculating a delay difference between the first and second streams which corresponds to the average transport delays and the transport delay jitters of the first and second streams, and setting buffer durations. A device for stream synchronization of real-time multimedia transport over a packet network is also provided.

Abstract: A decoding device and a decoding method in a digital broadcast receiver are provided, in which received packet data is demultiplexed into video data and audio data, and decoding control signals of the respective data are extracted. An Estimated Program Clock Reference (EPCR) is generated from the decoding control signal of the audio data, and the EPCR is compared with the decoding control signal of the video data to generate a video decoding control signal. The demultiplexed video data is decoded in synchronous with the video decoding control signal, and then the decoded video data is outputted. The demultiplexed audio data is decoded in synchronous with the audio decoding control signal, and then the decoded audio data is outputted. Finally, the decoded video data and the decoded audio data are displayed and reproduced.

Abstract: A wavelength tunable laser module for DWDM is used, in which a single electroabsorption modulator integrated laser is mounted and an oscillation wavelength is made tunable by temperature control. Driving conditions of a laser and a modulator are determined such that they have approximately the same modulation and transmission characteristics in a temperature control range. Such an electroabsorption modulator integrated laser is used and the driving conditions are incorporated, thereby a small, inexpensive wavelength tunable optical transmitter can be provided.
