Abstract: Reconfigurable direct radio frequency (RF) bandpass sampling receivers are disclosed that provide direct RF sampling of an input signal spectrum passed through a bandpass filter that is tunable over a wide frequency range of interest and that is sampled based on the bandwidth of the filter rather than the bandwidth of the total frequency range of interest. The bandwidth of the filter may further be variable to provide for optimized search against a variety of signal bandwidths. The reconfigurable direct RF bandpass sampling receiver may be implemented with a single fixed clock for applications where the signals of interest lie in adjacent non-overlapping frequency channels. For applications requiring arbitrary tuning, the reconfigurable direct RF bandpass sampling receiver can also use a programmable or switched sampling clock to avoid the Nyquist sample boundaries that occur with bandpass sampling and thus provide sampling of arbitrary frequencies.

The transition detecting circuit detects a transition of an input data signal to provide a transition interval of the input data signal. The clock recovery circuit generates a recovered clock based on the input data signal during the transition interval of the input data signal.

Abstract: A clock generator including an edge detector, an oscillator, a frequency divider, and a selector. The edge detector generates a detection signal according to an edge of a data signal. The oscillator generates a first clock according to a control signal and controls the phase of the first clock according to the detection signal. The frequency divider processes the first clock to generate a second clock and is reset by the detection signal. The selector selectively outputs the first clock or the second clock according to an external signal.

Abstract: An apparatus and method for using electrical fuses (eFuses) to store phase-locked loop (PLL) configuration data are provided. With the apparatus and method, a portion of the eFuses present in the integrated circuit are reserved for the PLL configuration data. Upon power up, a power up controller and eFuse controller direct the sensing and serial transfer of the data in the portion of eFuses to the PLL under the reference clock. When the transfer is complete, the power up controller directs the PLL logic to load the configuration data and start. The mechanism of the present invention allows manufacturing to tailor the PLL configuration on a given device based on the characteristics of that device and its intended usage. Thus, the same PLL may be used in the same or different architectures to perform different operations based on the configuration data passed into the PLL from the eFuses.

Self-compacting concrete is used to fill the spaces between the containment bodies.

Abstract: A method is disclosed for scattered radiation correction of a CT system including two simultaneously operated focus/detector systems, arranged angularly offset from one another on a rotatable gantry. In an embodiment of the method, in order to scan an object, the two focus/detector systems arranged angularly offset from one another scan the object by virtue of the fact that they rotate about a system axis of the CT system. A multiplicity of absorption values of individual rays are then determined from the measured attenuations of the radiation of the foci and the measured values are subjected to scattered radiation correction.

Abstract: In one aspect, an x-ray scanning device is provided. The x-ray scanning device comprises a target adapted to convert electron-beam (e-beam) energy into x-ray energy, a detector array positioned to detect at least some x-rays emitted from the target, and a conveyer mechanism adapted to convey items to be inspected through an inspection region formed by the target and the detector array, wherein the target and the detector array are rotated out of alignment with each other such that x-rays emitted from the target impinge on diametrically positioned detectors of the detector array without passing through near-side detectors of the detector array.

Abstract: A mammography apparatus capable of obtaining a breast image having an optimum density with reduced burden on the subject. The apparatus includes a radiation irradiation section and an object table connected to an arm such that they face each other, and the breast compressed onto the object table using a compression paddle is imaged by rotating the arm by an arm rotation means according to the imaging direction. In the apparatus, the size of the breast is detected, and the position of a dose detector is moved along the side of the object table facing the chestwall of the subject according to the detected size of the breast and the angle of rotation of the arm when rotated by the arm rotation means.

The device comprises a sensor configured to measure a bodily fluid of a patient and provide information for display on a point-of-care monitor. The information relates to a measurement of an analyte in a sample. The device further comprises a processor and stored program instructions executable by the processor such that the system is operable to estimate an analyte concentration using two or more measurements of the analyte concentration.

Abstract: Certain embodiments of the present invention provide a system, method and computer instructions for x-ray imaging. In an embodiment, such a system includes: an x-ray emission module configured to emit a stream of x-rays; a rotatable x-ray definition module configured to define the size and shape of the x-ray stream, wherein rotating the x-ray definition module rotates the shape of the x-ray stream; an x-ray detection module configured to detect the x-ray stream and create an image based on the detected x-rays; and an output module configured to output the image. In certain embodiments, the x-ray definition module may be configured to change the size of the x-ray stream when the x-ray definition module is rotated, for example. In certain embodiments, the x-ray detection module may be configured to rotate the image and/or change the size of the image before the image is output by the output module, for example.

Abstract: A dual pulse imaging method is provided comprising the steps of generating a first image of a region of interest by a first pulse delivering a first dose, generating a second image of the region of interest by a second pulse delivering a second dose different from the first dose, and computing a third image of the region of interest using data from the first and second images. A threshold can be identified for determining data from the first and second images to be used in computing the third image. A dual pulse imaging system is also provided.

Abstract: A weight (22) and height (24) of a patient who is to undergo a calcium screening examination in an x-ray diagnostic scanner (10) is used to calculate an appropriate x-ray dose in terms of tube current (mAs) for the calcium screening examination in accordance with the formula: mAs=c(BMI)2, where BMI is a patient's body mass index defined as: BMI=patent weight_(patient height)2.and C is a constant selected in accordance with a target required noise. In this manner, patients can be scanned with a minimum dose necessary to achieve the target noise, e.g., 20 HU. The images can be compared with earlier (and subsequent) images that have the same target noise.

Abstract: A method for preserving orientation information in an image may comprise: collecting image data, including orientation information inherent to collecting the image data; and embedding in the image data an orientation mark unambiguously identifying when the image data is presented in a correct viewing orientation. Image data is stored in a medium together with data forming an embedded orientation mark which is bilaterally asymmetrical in at least two orthogonal axes. In a variation, the data forming the embedded orientation mark further comprises at least one humanly recognizable text or punctuation character, word or trademark.

An example method disclosed herein receives a notice of error for a user service, identifies equipment associated with the user service, analyzes the equipment to generate a dispatch instruction, and automatically executes the dispatch instruction in response to the equipment analysis.

Abstract: Alarm System Activation Platform (ASAP) is a customer relationship management system for activating and maintaining a large number of alarm monitoring accounts with a minimum of work per account. It differs from standard alarm customer relationship management systems in that it is designed from the ground up to be entirely automated. ASAP eliminates most or all of this partly through automation of account processing and partly through providing tools to the customer to allow “self-service” activation and maintenance. It allows large numbers of accounts to be quickly activated and maintained with only a very small amount of work required per account.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for providing a Global Positioning System (GPS) tracking device to be integrated with a VoIP endpoint device and a subscriber's current GPS positioning data to be associated with the subscriber's telephone number are disclosed. The present invention enables a VoIP service provider to route a E911 call from a subscriber to the appropriate Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) based on the current GPS positioning data of the subscriber's VoIP endpoint device. Moreover, the GPS positioning data will be sent to the PSAP as part of the E911 call.

Abstract: A method and apparatus to process an incoming message is described. The method may comprise, at a recipient system, receiving an incoming message from a message communicator and automatically analyzing message content to identify a keyword included in the message content. Thereafter, a predefined action associated with the keyword may be identified and the action may be performed. In an example embodiment, the predefined action may be a priority with the message, alerting an intended recipient of the message, routing the message to the intended recipient, paging the intended recipient, emailing the message to the intended recipient, sending an SMS message to the intended recipient, or the like. In an example embodiment, a user/owner of a mailbox may search a message database to identify incoming messages which includes the search term in the message content.

Abstract: Disclosed is a communication server that uses a communication mediator to conduct voice/text communication sessions between users with different communications systems through a session initiation protocol (SIP) server. The communication server uses a voice recognition system to interface with participants in communications sessions and to provide a link between the participants and the mediator. The voice recognition system monitors ongoing voice communications for keywords and verbally prompts the participants to provide additional value to the communication session. The mediator can also access and retrieve information directly from a directory or from other data sources through an intelligent data server. Based on the directory information, additional participants can be added to the communication session.

Abstract: A method and voice communicator to provide a voice communication is described. The method may include identifying text to be communicated and automatically processing the text to generate an audio equivalent of the text. For example, the text may be scraped from a web page. The method may include identifying an intended recipient of the audio equivalent and thereafter communicating the audio equivalent as a telephone communication (e.g., a voice mail message in a voice mailbox). Thus, identifying the intended recipient may include requesting a telephone number of a sender (caller) of the voice communication. In an embodiment, the method comprises monitoring selection by a user of a contact list available on the voice communicator wherein the contact list includes a plurality of recipient names and their associated telephone numbers. The audio equivalent is communicated to the recipient device over, for example, PSTN or VoIP network.

Abstract: A voice response system and method are described herein which after learning that a caller has unsuccessfully attempted to contact a called party functions to: (1) obtain presence information about one or more real-time activities of the called party; (2) use the presence information to create a customized voice message; and (3) play the customized voice message to the caller. In the preferred embodiment, a presence system collects the presence information which identifies the real-time activities of the called party and forwards at least a portion of the collected presence information to the voice response system.

Abstract: A presence system and method are described herein which infer a person's level of participation in a telephone call (e.g., multi-party conference call, one-on-one telephone call, collaboration session). In one embodiment, the presence system collects presence information about one or more activities of a person while they are also participating in a telephone call. The presence system aggregates and analyzes the collected presence information to determine a telephony/conference activity presence state which is then published to watchers and/or an automated interaction management system in order to inform them if the person happens to be an “active participant” or a “passive participant” in the telephone call. The watchers and/or the automated interaction management system can then use this information as a guide to determine if the person is likely to be able to respond to another interaction while that person is also participating in the telephone call.

An event is detected when a caller is unable to join an established conference call, because a maximum number of conference participants associated with a conference bridge used for the conference call are currently participating in the conference call. Abstract: An apparatus and method are disclosed that enables detecting the spoofing of a telephone number. To validate the identity of a calling terminal, some techniques in the prior art rely on exchanging data that only the legitimate calling system and the called system know about. In contrast, the illustrative embodiment of the present invention validates the identity of the calling terminal by assessing characteristics other than the calling terminal's telephone number, such as the telephone type and the signaling protocol. By using characteristics other than telephone number to validate the identity, the data-processing system of the illustrative embodiment makes it more difficult to spoof a legitimate telephone's number.
