Patent number: 7211312Abstract: The zone of weakening, which is designed as a slot (6a), is bordered by film material (7) on both sides according to length, i.e., across the direction of loading, which is indicated by the arrows F. Tearing (8) which progresses from the edge because of microscopic damage comes to a standstill at the slot (6a) at the latest, because stress peaks are dissipated here and the locally increased stresses are diverted into elements of the film material (7) which are under less stress. Other embodiments include a locally interrupted adhesive layer for separation of an upper film layer from a lower film layer, these two film layers being otherwise glued together. The adhesive-free recesses here constitute zones of weakening in the sense of the present invention. This therefore prevents tears from spreading from one film layer to the next. Furthermore, the propagation of tearing is counteracted due to the dissipation of stresses when a tear that forms in the film layer reaches the zone of weakening.Type: GrantFiled: February 20, 2004Date of Patent: May 1, 2007Assignee: Schreiner Group GmbH & Co. KGInventor: Ulrich Moosheimer

Patent number: 7211319Abstract: This invention relates to an aluminum conductor composite core reinforced cable (ACCC) and method of manufacture. An ACCC cable has a composite core surrounded by at least one layer of aluminum conductor. The composite core comprises a plurality of fibers from at least one fiber type in one or more matrix materials. The composite core can have a maximum operating temperature capability above 100° C. or within the range of about 45° C. to about 230° C., at least 50% fiber to resin volume fraction, a tensile strength in the range of about 160 Ksi to about 370 Ksi, a modulus of elasticity in the range of about 7 Msi to about 37 Msi and a coefficient of thermal expansion in the range of about ?0.7×10?6 m/m/° C. to about 6×10?6 m/m/° C. According to the invention, a B-stage forming process may be used to form the composite core at improved speeds over pultrusion processes wherein the speeds ranges from about 9 ft/min to about 60 ft/min.Type: GrantFiled: October 22, 2003Date of Patent: May 1, 2007Assignee: CTC Cable CorporationInventors: Clement Hiel, George Korzeniowski

Patent number: 7211321Abstract: A tri-laminate body panel stiffener includes two polymer layers with or without a backing. One of the layers is a compliant foam layer mounted against a substrate while the other layer is a rigid foam layer mounted against the compliant foam layer. In another aspect of the invention the laminate comprises a backing member having an expandable foam mounted thereto with two or more opposing edges of the laminate being of non-straight construction such as being wavy or saw tooth. A pattern of holes may be formed through the foam and backing layers.Type: GrantFiled: December 19, 2001Date of Patent: May 1, 2007Assignee: Henkel Kommanditgesellschaft auf AktienInventor: Joseph S. Patent number: 7211322Abstract: An oxidation resistant, microporous polyolefin web exhibiting high-strength mechanical and low electrical resistance properties is a solid matrix that includes an ultrahigh molecular weight polyolefin component and a friable precipitated silica component. The ultrahigh molecular weight polyolefin component provides high-strength mechanical properties to the web. The friable precipitated silica component is broken down into predominately discrete silica aggregates dispersed throughout the microporous web to maintain a low electrical resistance in the presence of an electrolyte. In an alternative preferred embodiment, a polyethylene web includes an antioxidant coating that is applied to the separator web following extraction of the majority of the process oils and drying of the extraction fluid from the separator pores. The resultant “sheath” of antioxidant protects the mechanical integrity of the polyethylene separator by suppressing polyethylene degradation.Type: GrantFiled: January 26, 2006Date of Patent: May 1, 2007Assignee: Entek International LLCInventor: Richard W. Patent number: 7211323Abstract: An improved coating material possessing super-hard and low friction properties and a method for forming the same. The improved coating material includes the use of a noble metal or soft metal homogeneously distributed within a hard nitride material. The addition of small amounts of such metals into nitrides such as molybdenum nitride, titanium nitride, and chromium nitride results in as much as increasing of the hardness of the material as well as decreasing the friction coefficient and increasing the oxidation resistance.Type: GrantFiled: January 6, 2003Date of Patent: May 1, 2007Assignee: U Chicago Argonne LLCInventors: Ali Erdemir, Mustafa Ürgen, Ali Fuat Cakir, Osman Levent Eryilmaz, Kursat Kazmanli, Ozgul Keles
