Abstract: A method for manufacturing frame-type composite panels to a desired length comprises forming an elongate core-frame composite in which frame members have been received in slots on a slab of core material. The composite is cut to the desired length and the frame is finished by application of end members. The method described herein allows composite frame panels to be formed without restriction on the length typically due to the length of the mold in which the core is formed. A drum for use in a system for creating composite panels is disclosed having protruding rings concentric to the drum. A slab of core material is passed between two such drums which form slots in the slab for receiving frame members when they contact the slabs.

Abstract: Disclosed herein is a three-dimensional cellular light structure formed of continuous wire groups. In the cellular light structure, six orientational-wire groups are intercrossed each other at 60 degrees or 120 degrees of angles in a three-dimensional space to thereby construct the structure similar to the ideal Octet or Kagome truss and having a good mechanical property such as strength, rigidity or the like. A method of mass-producing the structure in a cost-effective manner is also disclosed. The three-dimensional cellular light structure has a similar form to the ideal Octet or Kagome truss. When required, the intersection points of the wires are bonded by means of welding, brazing, soldering, or a liquid- or spray-form adhesive to provide a structural material having a light weight and a good mechanical strength and rigidity. It can be made into a fiber-reinforced type composite material by filling part of or entire internal empty space of the structure.

Abstract: A reinforcing bar coupling includes a sleeve segment having a deformable interior section weaker than the balance of the segment. The deformable interior section, for example including deformable ribs, is configured to be pressed onto ends of reinforcing bars to be spliced together. The ribs deform onto and around deformations on exterior surfaces on the ends of the reinforcing bars. Thus locked to the ends of the reinforcing bars under pressure, the sleeve segment secures the ends of the reinforcing bars together. The sleeve segment may take any of a variety of forms, such as an insert placed inside a sleeve, or a portion of a sleeve, between the sleeve or portion, and the reinforcing bar. The clamp used to press the sleeve segment onto the reinforcing bar ends may also have a variety of forms, such as including bolts, tapered collars, or fingered collars.

Abstract: This disclosure describes an apparatus which will enable high temperature filtration of particulate laden gases through a composite filter that consists of a layer of in-expensive granular filter media that is supported on a high temperature porous media. It also describes a method for regenerating the composite filter media when the pressure drop across said media becomes too high. The purpose of such a high temperature composite filter is to inexpensively facilitate the filtration of high temperature gases bearing sticky particulate in a low pressure drop continuous and reliable manner. Particulate from hot gases are captured by the granular filter media. When the pressure drop across a filter element becomes too high, a reverse flow of gas through the high temperature porous media causes the granular media to slide down the inclined porous media.

Abstract: A propulsion device contains a working mass within an enclosed plenum, where the working mass is recirculated through the plenum to produce a net force vector. The working mass is accelerated around a first bend or change in direction within the plenum by a working mass driver. The temperature of the working mass is then reduced and the working mass is slowed. The working mass is then accelerated around a second bend or change in direction within the plenum resulting in two opposing force vectors. When combined, the two opposing force vectors produce a net force, and thus, acceleration of the propulsion device. The propulsion device may be used in connection with a space vehicle or satellite.

Abstract: A thrust reverser actuation system is provided that includes a synchronization system that synchronizes the actuation of at least two actuators coupled to at least two power drive units. The synchronization system includes a first synchronization shaft coupling the first power drive unit to the second power drive unit and a second synchronization shaft coupling the first power drive unit to the second power drive unit. The at least two actuators are adapted to receive a drive force and configured, in response to receipt of the drive force, to move between a stowed position and a deployed position. The synchronization system is configured to transfer power between the first power drive unit and the second power drive unit, thereby eliminating a mismatch in power and provide uniform deployment of the at least two actuators.

Abstract: An internal combustion engine exhaust gas recirculation system. A turbine section of a turbocharger is coupled to an exhaust manifold of the engine. A compressor section has an output coupled to an intake manifold of the engine. The exhaust gas aftertreatment system is coupled to an output of the turbine section. The exhaust gas aftertreatment system includes a particulate filter having: a housing of an outer wall and an inner wall; a particulate filtering section disposed within the inner wall of the housing; and a channel formed between the inner wall and the outer wall. The channel created by the outer wall includes: an inlet disposed downstream of the filtering section for receiving a portion of exhaust gasses exiting the filtering section, and an outlet coupled to the input of the compressor section of the turbine for transporting the exhaust gasses received by the inlet of the channel to an input of the compressor section.

A rigid support structure is secured inside the collar and a turbine is rotatably coupled on the distal side of the rigid support structure. Abstract: This apparatus has the ability to transport energy to propel a generator. This invention uses coil springs as a way to store energy. A hydraulic pump is used to force hydraulic oil into a hydraulic tank with up to 3,500 pounds of pressure per square inch. The hydraulic oil with the help of a hydraulic jack will collapse the springs. Once the springs are fully collapsed the pump will stop working, allowing the springs to uncoil or come back to full size. While returning to their uncoiled position the springs will push and propel oil out of the bottom end of the hydraulic tank and into a hydraulic motor. The hydraulic motor will be connected to a generator to produce electricity. Two or more power units will be used together, one unit will be recharging while the other is working to operate the generator. A small power unit and generator can be used in family's house relieving the homeowner of fuel costs. The same unit placed in the house can also charge a battery to run the family car.
