The method includes substantially isolating fluid communication of an external environment from an interior environment with a mask worn by a user, the mask having a face shield, a portion of which is visible therethrough. The method also includes disposing an illumination apparatus within the interior of the mask, the illumination apparatus configured to project light outward of the mask.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for illuminating the area in front of a person without requiring the use of the person's hands, by suspending from the neck of the person a housing containing at least one LED light source emitting a light beam extending forwardly from the person, a battery power supply for the light source, and a switch connected between the light source and the power supply for energizing and de-energizing the light source. The housing is shaped to rest against the chest of the person so that the direction of the light beam remains substantially stable. The housing may be pivotable relative to a connector to permit the light beam from the light source to be directed forwardly from the person through a preselected range of angles both above and below a horizontal axis.

Abstract: A lighting fixture where the lighting fixture uses inductive lighting technology or self ballasting lighting elements with one or a plethora of efficient light elements. The lighting fixture is used where high bay or low bay lighting may be used, but incorporates multiple light sources to provide an equivalent light intensity. The multiple light sources can be inductive or multiple fluorescent, LED or other efficient light sources to provide a less expensive cost of operation and installation. The higher efficiency lights could be standard socket type fluorescent or inductive light bulbs that are easily available. The higher efficiency lights will also create less heat that will further reduce the air conditioning or cooling costs for the building. An integrated ballast box with reflector dome retainer is also shown for use with inductive or other lighting that further includes a retaining mechanism for the dome.

Abstract: A new and useful lighting system is provided, that is particularly useful as a lighting system for a deck (e.g. a ship deck), where pilots taking off from or landing on the deck often use night vision goggles. In addition, a new and useful optical projection structure for a portion of the lighting system is provided. The lighting system comprises at least a pair of lighting subsystems that project light to a volume space with different spatial distributions. One subsystem projects light to the volume space with a predetermined spatial distribution, and the other lighting subsystem projects light to the volume space with a different spatial distribution, in a manner that effectively supplements the projected light from the first subsystem, so as to provide a lighting system that effectively illuminates the entire volume space. Moreover, the system is designed to be particularly compatible with the optical capabilities of night vision goggles.

Abstract: An illumination module is disclosed, which is comprised of a plurality of light sources, a plurality of light source substrates of high thermal conductivity, and a reflecting member for reflecting light. The plural light source substrates are arranged at positions corresponding to each other so as to form a polygon periphery of the illumination module, whereas the inner surface of the polygon periphery is enabled for at least one of the plural light sources to fit therein. The reflecting member is placed at the center of the module where it is corresponding to each of the plural light source substrates so as to reflect the light emitting from the light sources fitted thereon. In addition, a lens with light refraction ability is disposed at the light emitting end of the illumination module so as to enable the light illumination module to have light condensing/diffusing capability.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus for generating and modulating white light illumination conditions. Examples of applications in which such methods and apparatus may be implemented include retail environments (e.g., food, clothing, jewelry, paint, furniture, fabrics, etc.) or service environments (e.g., cosmetics, hair and beauty salons and spas, photography, etc.) where visible aspects of the products/services being offered are significant in attracting sales of the products/services. Other applications include theatre and cinema, medical and dental implementations, as well as vehicle-based (automotive) implementations. In another example, a personal grooming apparatus includes one or more light sources disposed in proximity to a mirror and configured to generate variable color light, including essentially white light, whose color temperature may be controlled by a user.
