Abstract: A fuel storage system for a transportation or recreational vehicle has a fuel tank that carries a vapor assembly that seeks out vapor pockets and controllably removes fuel vapor from the tank without releasing hydrocarbons to the surrounding environment. Preferably, a vent manifold attaches to a flange that sealably covers an access hole of the tank. At least one flexible tentacle extends from the manifold in the tank to a respective vapor vent valve that floats upon the surface of fuel at a vapor dome. When freely floating, the vent valve is open thus communicates the vapor dome through the tentacle and preferably with a filtering carbon canister. As fuel surface levels change or the vehicle tilts, changing the vapor dome size or location in the tank, the floating vapor vent valve is free to move generally with the vapor dome and as permitted by the flexibility of the trailing tentacle.

Abstract: A pilot valve actuator for use with a hydrant valve has a pilot valve and a removable actuator. The pilot valve blocks communication between a primary hydrant chamber and a piston chamber when in a closed position. Under pressure, the actuator opens the pilot valve against its biasing force permitting the flow of fluid between the hydrant chamber and the piston chamber. The pilot valve is permanently attached to the hydrant valve. The actuator is removable from the pilot valve by a quick disconnect mechanism permitting storage of the actuator remote from the hydrant valve.

  • Publication number: 20070186979
Abstract: A device for automatically maintaining a desired water level in a water structure, such as a pond, pool or decorative water fountain. The device includes a reserve tank that is connected to the water structure by an open tube, or pipe, thus allowing the water level in the reserve tank to be the same as the water level in the water structure. When the water level in the structure drops, so does the water level in the device. When the water level in the device drops below a pre-defined level, a water supply switch is activated and more water is added to the reserve tank. As water is added to the reserve tank, water also flows through the open tube into the water structure, and the water levels in the reserve tank and in the water structure both rise at similar rates. When the water level in the reserve tank reaches a pre-defined full level, the water supply switch is de-activated and the flow of water to the reserve tank, and to the water structure, is shut off.

Abstract: The multiple antisymmetric optimal (MAO) control algorithm is disclosed for a gas delivery system including a flow ratio controller for dividing a single mass flow into multiple flow lines. In the MAO control algorithm, each flow line is provided with a flow sensor and a valve actively controlled by a SISO feedback controller combined with a linear saturator to achieve the targeted flow ratio set point. For optimal control performance, these SISO controller and linear saturators are substantial identical. It is proved that each valve control command is multiple antisymmetric to the summation of all other valve control commands. Therefore, the MAO control algorithm guarantees that there exists at least one valve at the allowable maximum open position at any moment, which achieves the optimal solution in terms of the maximum total valve conductance for a given set of flow ratio set points.

Abstract: Disclosed is a heat-treated oxidizing agent for gas generating compositions which is obtained by mixing ammonium nitrate with an inorganic compound having as an element one or two or more metal atoms selected from the group consisting of Cu, Fe, Ni, Zn, Co, Mn and Ti and subjecting the mixture to heat treatment, and a gas generating composition containing the same. This invention provides a gas generating composition comprising ammonium nitrate, which can be safely produced, does not change in density with phase transition, and has sufficient combustibility.

Abstract: In producing a side-reinforced type runflat tire in which side reinforcing rubbers with generally crescent-shaped sections are interposed between a carcass and an inner liner, the first drums 11a, 11b on which the side-reinforcing rubbers are to be attached are so configured that their diameter do not substantially fluctuate along the axial direction. The expanding operation of the first drum, the mutually approaching operation of the first drums 11a, 11b, and the approaching operation of the bead gripping rings 30A are synchronized. As a result, there is provided a tire and a method of its production capable of being produced by a multi-size mixed flow production system consisting of minimum equipments and of preventing air inclusions and wrinkles between the carcass member 4A and the side-reinforcing rubber 2A.

Abstract: A method for producing a tyre for a vehicle wheel includes disposing a carcass structure on a drum having distal and proximal halves; disposing a belt structure around the carcass structure; moving the distal and proximal halves mutually close, from a building condition to a shaping condition, until an intermediate portion of the carcass structure contacts an inner surface of the belt structure; and transferring the drum, in the shaping condition, to a vicinity of at least one application unit. The distal and proximal halves are both carried by a support structure. During moving the distal and proximal halves mutually close, the proximal half maintains a fixed axial position with respect to the support structure. The at least one unit applies at least one elongated element of elastomeric material, in circumferential coils, to form at least one component of the tyre external to the carcass structure.

The fiber placement head assembly includes a compaction roller assembly and a feeder assembly. An infrared heating assembly, a cooling mechanism, temperature sensors, and a controller are operably coupled to the fiber placement head assembly. The infrared heating assembly includes an infrared heater that generates a heating profile. The heating profile defines a heating zone on either a tool or previously laid tows. If the burn point of either the tool or previously laid tows within the heating zone is approached, the controller, which receives temperature readings from the temperature sensors, simultaneously disables the infrared heater and activates the cooling mechanism. As such, the tool and the previously laid tows are protected from being ruined due to an over temperature condition.
