Abstract: Disclosed are a polishing device and polishing method for forming a wafer with high flatness using a CMP process. For the polishing of the wafer, a polishing device including a chuck section and a polishing member having a needle member is used. In the polishing, the wafer is fixed on the chuck section and then, a working fluid containing no abrasive grains is supplied to a wafer surface as well as the needle member is pressed against the wafer surface and is caused to rapidly vibrate. By doing so, the needle member tip is caused to vibrate to rub the wafer surface, thereby performing the polishing. As a result, dishings due to asperities on the wafer surface or scratches extending over a wide range are prevented from occurring, so that the wafer with high flatness can be obtained.

Abstract: According to exemplary embodiments of the present invention, a fracture prediction device for a spot welded portion can be provided. For example, the device may include an input arrangement configured to input all or some of a material strength, a plate thickness, a nugget diameter of a spot welding, a plate width of a joint, and a rotation angle of the joint in a tension test, based on a cross tension test and/or a shear tension test at a spot welded joint. The device can also include a first calculation arrangement configured to calculate a fracture strength parameter of the spot welded portion from all or any of the material strength, the plate thickness, the nugget diameter of the spot welding, the plate width of the joint, and the rotation angle of the joint in the tension test. A parameter storage arrangement may also be provided which can be configured to store the fracture strength parameter by each steel type.

Abstract: After forming an unwelded section by a primary welding process step (S203) including a first beam irradiation process step (S203a) and a second beam irradiation process step (S203b), annealing treatment is performed in an annealing process step (S204) by irradiating an electron beam to a predetermined portion on a locus of the electron beam formed in the first beam irradiation process step (S203a). Thereby, there is provided a manufacturing method of a sealed electronic component, which can seal a housing in a high-vacuum state while preventing enclosure of a gas within the housing, as well as achieving the improvement in manufacturing efficiency.

Abstract: The invention stabilizes a quality of a laser welding in a terminal in which an outer appearance characteristic is not stabilized, and achieves an improvement of a positioning characteristic at a time of executing the laser welding without generating a cost increase. A hole is formed in a terminal of an integrated circuit sealed by a plastic molding. At a time of welding, a welding operation position is positioned by recognizing the hole in accordance with an image recognition, and a laser welding is executed by irradiating a laser beam to a portion of a terminal and a bus bar positioned near an edge portion of the hole. The hole is preferably formed in a circular shape or a similar shape thereto.

Abstract: Laser-based methods and systems for removing one or more target link structures of a circuit fabricated on a substrate includes generating a pulsed laser output at a predetermined wavelength less than an absorption edge of the substrate are provided. The laser output includes at least one pulse having a pulse duration in the range of about 10 picoseconds to less than 1 nanosecond, the pulse duration being within a thermal laser processing range. The method also includes delivering and focusing the laser output onto the target link structure. The focused laser output has sufficient power density at a location within the target link structure to reduce the reflectivity of the target link structure and efficiently couple the focused laser output into the target link structure to remove the target link structure without damaging the substrate.

Abstract: A fastener includes first and second tracks. The first track includes a first profile, and the second track includes a second profile for interlocking with the first profile. The fastener extends between opposing ends. The first and second profiles at each of the opposing ends are sealed to each other using a laser. In one embodiment, the fastener is initially continuous and is subsequently divided into segments by simultaneously cutting and sealing the fastener at spaced target locations using the laser. The segments are associated with respective plastic bags. At each of the target locations, the laser directs a laser beam at the fastener such that the laser beam cuts through the first and second profiles and simultaneously seals the first and second profiles to each other on opposite sides of the cut. The seals on the opposite sides of the cut terminate respective ends of adjacent ones of the segments.

The robot (4) maintains the laser tool (15) in a suspended manner over the tool (2), at a focal length (F) and at a contact free distance and guides it along a machining path (30). The laser beam (14) is deviated, by movement of the hand axis (IV, V, VI), about a variable deviation angle (?), and the laser source (13), whose power is variable, is controlled according to the movement of the laser beam. The beam deviation of the hand axis (IV, V, VI) can be superimposed on an offset movement of the robot (4).

A side wall is connected to each side of the base via a hinge arrangement for displacement between a collapsed condition, and an erect condition in which the side walls extend upwardly from the base such that at least part of each side wall abuts against the base at a position spaced inwardly from an edge of the base. This arrangement ensures that loads are transmitted between the side walls and the base at positions spaced inwardly from the edges of the base. The container also includes locking means for locking the side walls in their erect condition. The invention further provides a container blank from which the container can be formed.

Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention generally relate to apparatus and methods for protecting valuables during a storm or other natural disaster such as a hurricane or tornado by securing such valuables in a containment unit that an owner leaves behind in the wake of the oncoming storm. In one aspect of the present invention, the containment unit is designed to withstand the impact of the storm via a heavily constructed containment unit that includes multiple layers of waterproofing. In another aspect of the present invention, the containment unit is designed to be bolted deeply into the floor or foundation of a home or business for the purpose of keeping the containment unit in place during the ravages of the storm.

The separator is made of a flexible material to conform to the different sizes and shapes of the cookware preventing scratching the non-stick surface on the bottom pan. In addition to functioning as a cookware protector, the separator made be used to function as a potholder, and/or as a table mat to protect furniture from hot cookware. Additionally, another embodiment of the cookware protector is flame retardant/resistant properties for safe usage in the kitchen.

It resists spilling when shaken or vibrated suddenly. When the improved cup and container is tilted for pouring, such that the liquid level inside the storage chamber of the cup chamber is higher than the liquid level at the mouth opening, no liquid pours out of the cup. The liquid starts to flow out of the mouth opening after the cup is tilted beyond a start-to-pour angle. The start-to-pour angle is reached when the cup is tilted permitting the outside air to pass through the scoop-like-baffle and into the storage chamber. The improved cup has a removable cover with a scoop-like-baffle bended downward toward the body of the cup.

The thimble is offset near one edge of the annular opening so that a user may make access to the back side thereof to thread an edge of the leading towelette through the thimble without having to remove the lid from the tub. A well is provided in the smaller portion of the aperture and a cap for the lid is provided with a stuffer tab to urge the leading edge of the next towelette into the well when the cap is closed.

Abstract: The present invention provides a poison dispenser including a hollow shaft, a dispensing assembly attached to the shaft, and a poison supply removably attached to the dispensing assembly. A dispensing end of the shaft may be cut at an angle to create an oval dispensing opening. The dispensing assembly includes a hollow housing, a body rotatably located within the housing, a receptacle located within the body, and means to rotate the body in order to fill the receptacle with a portion of poison from the poison supply and deposit the poison through the shaft into a burrow.

Abstract: A piston tank with elongated contact between the piston and the tank bore to prevent piston cocking and preserve alignment is equipped with a compound piston that includes a carriage (or glider) and a barrier that is movable relative to the carriage. The carriage is an elongate ring with sealing and contact sites between the ring and the tank bore and axially spaced apart, and the barrier moves or changes shape in response to pressure differentials across the barrier imposed by a pressurized driving fluid. The barrier and carriage can thus move between a position allowing the full volume of the tank to be occupied by fuel or other functional fluid and a position ejecting all of the fuel or functional fluid out of the tank through an outlet port. Two examples of the barrier are disclosed—a plate that is movable within the ring and a diaphragm affixed to the ring and deformable in both directions.

Abstract: A dispenser for dispensing a viscous material in a selected one of a multiplicity of configurations comprises a container for a volume of a viscous material and having a squeezable body and a neck with a discharge opening at its upper end. Engaged on the container is a closure body of generally circular cross section having a top wall and a skirt, and the top wall has a discharge passage therethrough aligned with the discharge opening of the neck. The body top wall has a generally circular recess therein extending from the periphery thereof and beyond the discharge passage of the closure. Disposed in the circular recess is a generally circular rotating disc which has a multiplicity of discharge openings spaced about the disc in a circular array, and the discharge openings have a multiplicity of configurations.

Abstract: A device (1) comprises a reservoir (2), preferably having a transparent wall (8), for holding a flowable product (3) and a dispensing head (4) for discharging the product (3). The dispensing head (4) is joined to the reservoir (2) via a coupling (5), especially a threaded coupling. Provided on dispensing head (4) is an actuator device (6) for opening and closing the dispensing head (4) as desired in order to dispense product accordingly from a discharge opening (18). In order to prevent erroneous refilling with product when an empty reservoir (2) is replaced with a full reservoir (2), especially when there is a set of reservoirs (2) having different products (3) for coloring hair, it is proposed that the product (3) be a powdered or granulate hair dye and that the surface of the dispensing head (4) or the actuator device (6) have an information surface (7) that is to be assigned to the product (3). The powder or granulate form thus serves to ensure recognition of the color of the product (3).

Abstract: The improved low cost cup and container for storing and dispensing liquids has a scoop-like or glug-reducing separator that separates the volume of the container into two sections, the liquid storage section and the liquid pouring section. It resists spilling and pours more smoothly than prior containers. When the improved cup and container is tilted for pouring, such that the liquid level inside the storage section of container chamber is higher than the liquid level at the mouth opening of the liquid pouring section, no liquid pours out of the container. The liquid starts to flow out of the mouth opening only after the container is tilted beyond a predetermined start-to-pour angle. The start-to-pour angle is reached when the container is tilted permitting the outside air to pass through the pouring section and into the storage section. The improved container can use two covers or a scoop-like-separator-adapter.

Abstract: A dispenser for dispensing a viscous material in a selected one of a multiplicity of configurations comprises a container having a squeezable body and neck with a discharge opening at its upper end. Engaged with the container is a closure body of generally circular cross section with a top wall and skirt. The top wall has a post with a discharge passage therethrough aligned with the neck discharge opening. A generally circular rotating disc is rotatably disposed on the closure body top wall and has a central hub seating said post. The post has an aperture alignable with the hub discharge passage for passage of viscous material therethrough. The disc has a multiplicity of flow openings spaced about the disc in a circular array and represents a multiplicity of configurations.

The control structure includes a control block with several steps, a cylinder base, a flexible pipe fitted internally with an anchoring position, a resilient component and a rotary location component. When the user employs the present invention, it is possible to drive the synchronous rotation of flexible pipe and change the position of anchoring position of flexible pipe in relation to steps of control block, thereby adjusting retracted distance of flexible pipe for easy control of nailing depth. By using scale markers placed externally at the cylinder base, it is feasible to identify the current nailing depth of palm nailer, and relieve the need of removing structural components with improved efficiency and ease-of-operation.

Abstract: A transducer assembly for a bonding apparatus is provided that comprises a horn having first and second base ends and a bonding tool attached to the horn between the first and second base ends. First and second ultrasonic generators are secured to the first and second base ends respectively. A first fastening mechanism is located on the horn between the bonding tool and the first ultrasonic generator and a second fastening mechanism is located on the horn between the bonding tool and the second ultrasonic generator such that the horn is releasably attachable to a mounting interface using the first and second fastening mechanisms. There are also transducer mounting positions disposed on the mounting interface for mounting the mounting interface to a bond head.
