Abstract: A wireless key (6), capable of transmitting an ultra-low frequency radio wave signal (5), is used to gain access to a secure receptacle (1), the wireless key (6) and receptacle (1) comprising a system to ensure the secure transfer or delivery of items between parties typically engaging in e-commerce. The wireless key (6) possesses a means to discriminate against the unauthorized entry of the receptacle, such as through the use of buttons to enter a secure access code. The wireless key (6) accepts an access code entry from the user desiring entry to the receptacle (1) and subsequently transmits an ultra-low frequency signal (5) to a receiving and processing means (4). If the analysis of the signal indicates the user of the wireless key (6) is authorized to gain entry to the receptacle (1), the receptacle's locking mechanism (3) is disengaged to allow entry.

Abstract: A method program and a computer readable medium facilitate generating of an electronic receipt of a sales transaction at a point of purchaser and transmitting the record in an electronic form to be retrieved by a buyer. The electronic receipt is a computer image representation of corresponding paper receipt of said sales transaction, identifying, inter alia, the type of product or service bought and paid for by the customer. The record of the sales transaction may be transmitted to a portable memory storage device in possession of the buyer at the point of purchase, or to a remote service provider, or to an Internet-supported electronic address of the buyer. The records are stored in a computer-readable form, allowing the buyer retrieval of the records based on categories of purchase as defined by conventional accounting methods.

Abstract: End-to-end transaction processing systems and methods provide for calculating an amount of a transaction, capturing a presentation instrument information from a customer presentation instrument with a portable POS device, transmitting the presentation instrument information to a PC-based POS system, and transmitting the presentation instrument information, a sales information, and an authorization request to an acquirer, transmitting the presentation information, the sales information, and the authorization request to an issuer, processing the presentation information, the sales information, and the authorization request to determine an approval or a denial, transmitting the approval or the denial to the acquirer; and transmitting the approval or the denial to the PC-based POS system.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for iterative price zone analysis includes steps of generating auxiliary data for a geographic region that includes a plurality of retail locations, the regions being dividable into a plurality of geographic zones. The method and apparatus further includes modeling of sales information for the retail locations and thereby generate demand model information based on the set zones. The method and apparatus further includes providing the demand model information and the retail locations having the demand model information associated therewith to a price zoning display of the geographic region. Additionally the auxiliary data is provided for display relative to the model information and retail locations, where the display allows for the iterative selection of various factors and recalculations of the modeling information on the visual display.

Abstract: A self-checkout terminal is provided which includes a sensor for detecting whether or not a customer is in a position where operation of units of the self-checkout terminal by the customer is possible. When the sensor does not detect a customer, a whole guidance screen including a procedure summary of a self-checkout from start to finish is displayed. When the sensor detects a customer, the whole guidance screen is erased and a basic screen is displayed which shows guidance on performing a self-checkout. The guidance displayed on the basic screen is changed in accordance with the stage of the self-checkout.

Abstract: A merchandise ordering system utilizing a cell phone for communicating order information and a Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) device for customer location and identification. Orders are placed using the cell phone prior to arrival at the retail establishment. RFID customer location information indicating proximity of the customer to the retail establishment is combined with the order information to execute the order. At order pickup, the RFID information or cell phone information may be used to identify the customer for delivery of the order. An automated call center may handle multiple retail establishments or multiple chains of retail establishments. A method is disclosed for placing orders using a block of phone numbers. In one embodiment, computer controlled order delivery trays are used to match the orders with the RFID tag supplied identification and deliver the order to the customer.

Various data configurations may be used to store definitions and to facilitate parsing of raw automatic identification code data. For example, a first component may be used for generally defining one or more automatic identification code standards and a second component may be used for detailed information regarding code definitions, such as information relating to code segments. In addition, the system may facilitate further processing of parsed automatic identification code information, such as for cycle counting or parts movement of inventory.

Abstract: The present invention provides systems, methods and computer program-product of obtaining information from radio frequency identification (RFID) transponder tags with a mobile device having a radio frequency (RF) transceiver incorporated therein. The mobile device uses one or more visible light sources that may illuminate the RFID transponder tag under consideration, assist in the orientation and position of the RF transceiver, and provide indication to the user that information has been obtained from the RF transponder tag under consideration, by use of the one or more visible light sources. Control of the one or more visible light sources occurs through an application operating on a controller within the mobile device.

Abstract: A system and method are provided for identifying a one- or multi-dimensional spatial code comprising a plurality of security tags with one or more characteristic emission profiles. The spatial codes are identified on the basis of the combined spatial and spectral information. The system for identifying such spatial codes is comprised of a beam source, a detector, and a processor. The method includes illuminating the code, recording the light emission at a plurality of wavelengths, decoding the spatial information, resolving the spectral profiles, and identifying the code based on the spatial and spectral information. The system and method are applicable to validating a spatial code.

Abstract: An encoder having a code strip and an emitter-detector module is disclosed. The code strip includes alternating reflective and opaque stripes. The emitter-detector module includes a housing, a lens insert, a light source and a photodetector. Light from the light source illuminates the code strip, and light reflected from the code strip is incident on the photodetector. The lens insert includes a lens that processes light generated by the light source either before the light reaches the code strip or after the light is reflected from the code strip. The lens insert mates with the housing to position the lens at a predetermined point relative to the light source or the photodetector. The housing will accept a plurality of lens inserts, each lens insert having a different lens from the others of the lens inserts.

Abstract: A device that records, stores and displays UPC's and other codes that are ordinarily stored on various cards. Thus, the device eliminates the need to carry multiple cards incorporating bar codes. By recording the image of the code, storing the image and being able to retrieve the code later, one has to carry only one device that can replace hundreds of bar code bearing cards.

Abstract: An optical system used in a barcode scanner is disclosed to include a light source for emitting a dot-shaped light beam in a slanting angle, a standing cylindrical lens for expanding the dot-shaped light beam produced by the light source as a line-shaped light beam onto a barcode of a product in a slanting angle, which line-shaped light beam showing a light intensity distribution curve that is asymmetric between the left side and the right side, a linear sensor array, and a focusing lens for focusing a reflective image of the barcode onto the linear sensor array. A reflector means can be provided for overlapping the light path to reduce the size of the barcode scanner. Further, a shaking means may be used to cause reciprocation of the light beam in direction perpendicular to the light path of the light source, thereby eliminating image noises due to existence of black holes.

Methods for modifying or personalizing the appearance of a presentation or transaction instrument of the invention are also provided.

Abstract: This invention provides an antenna apparatus (60) for use in a non-contact type IC card into and from which data can be written and read by electronic apparatuses having a communication function, by virtue of inductive coupling. The antenna apparatus comprises a loop coil (61) and a magnetic member (62). The loop coil is produced by winding a conductive wire in a plane and configured to perform the inductive coupling. The magnetic member covers one region (61a) of the loop coil, provided at one side, from one surface of the loop coil, passes through the loop coil, and covers the other region (61b) of the loop coil, provided at the other side, from the other surface of the loop coil. The entire region of the loop coil is thus covered.

The apparatus also includes anti-scalding device, a temperature and pressure gauge that monitors hot water temperature, a priority device that controls flows between the pipes and other safety and maintenance devices.

Abstract: A ventilation system for regulating atmospheric communication between a first space and a second space includes an airflow regulation device and a control system. The airflow regulation device is disposed in fluid communication with the first and second spaces. The airflow regulation device includes a regulator for regulating airflow and an adjustment system connected to the regulator for adjusting the regulator. The control system includes a first sensor, a second sensor and a microcontroller. The first sensor is in fluid communication with the first space to measure a first atmospheric condition. The second sensor is disposed in fluid communication with the second space to measure a second atmospheric condition. The microcontroller is in communication with the first sensor and the second sensor for comparing the atmospheric conditions. The microcontroller is in communication with the adjustment system for adjusting the regulator in response to differences between atmospheric conditions.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a monitoring system for connection to an air conditioning system. The monitoring system includes a primary monitor for sensing the suction temperature and suction pressure of the air conditioning system along with the air conditioning unit temperature. In addition, the monitoring system includes a remote sensing device that is placed in the structure to monitor and transmit return air temperature and relative humidity to the primary monitor. The collected data is then used to calculate the superheat condition of the air conditioning system which is related to its efficiency.

Abstract: HVAC systems, including various HVAC system components, and methods for manufacturing the same are disclosed for controlling airflow into a building. Embodiments of the HVAC systems include apparatuses for controlling the volumetric airflow moving through at least one HVAC system component using a measurement device, for example an airflow detector, a regulator, for example a damper or blower, and a controller, where the controller receives input from the measurement device, manipulates the input with a control algorithm, and sends output commands to the regulator. Further embodiments include apparatuses and methods for development of the control algorithm by testing a similar HVAC system component, measuring the actual volumetric airflow through the HVAC system component, and comparing the actual volumetric airflow with the airflow measured by the measurement device. Still further embodiment include forming a plurality of similar HVAC components that each control airflow without requiring further testing.

Abstract: A hybrid heating and/or cooling system may combine different energy sources (e.g., solar and geothermal) into a single system. The hybrid heating and/or cooling system may include one or more heat pumps, a heat exchanger system, a solar and/or waste energy system, and a delivery system for delivering heat (and/or cool air) to a space such as a building. These systems may be interconnected and controlled using various conduits, pumps, valves and controls. The solar energy system may provide heat (e.g., low grade heat) to the working fluid at the input to the source side of the heat pump and/or may provide heat (e.g., high grade heat) to the delivery system for direct solar and/or waste energy heating.

A source of such gas is in fluid communication with the engine for communicating a requisite amount of gas to such engine. An air intake is disposed in fluid communication with a source of air and the engine for communicating air to the engine. A flywheel is connected to the engine for at least extracting heat therefrom. An air chamber surrounds the engine for directing hot air extracted therefrom to such space to be heated. A heat exchanger is disposed in the air chamber for extracting heat from exhaust gases exiting the air chamber and heating air being returned to system. An exhaust is connected to the air chamber and to outside air for exhausting cooled air from system.

Abstract: Described herein are devices that provide projection-type video output in a portable and flexible design. The design includes a projection chamber, a base, and an interface that permits relative positioning between the projection chamber and base. The base maintains the position of the display device. The projection chamber includes components responsible for the production of images based on received video data and components responsible for the projection of those images. Relative pointing between the projection chamber and base allows the projection chamber to be pointed—and an output projected image to be positioned—with minimal effort.

Abstract: For purposes of description the machine is not enclosed in a secure box but may easily be. It may also be located remotely so as to make it not noticable. This irrigation machine has different modern parts so as to make it desirable for many uses. It is best adapted to agriculture. It is a deduction of many previously available elements. This irrigator is versatile as it can be driven electrically by supplied electrical service or battery but also by propane gas that is self-contained remotely for power. This machine can be motion activated, or remotely activated as it is presently configured. It does not have sound aparatus but could be adapted to sound. Propane gas would need to provide electricity by form of an additional generater to the mechanism. My invention is not currently rigged with propane. The machine's size makes it adaptable to remote capabilities. The machine's application can also extend to residences, commercially by means of landscaping, sports facilities, swimming pools, and the like.

Abstract: The present invention provides an atomizer for producing finely dispersed spray of slurry/liquid and a process for the preparation of free flowing spray dried alumina powder. The jet-wheel impact atomizer based on the principle of addition of momenta has been invented and developed for spray drying. The atomizer works at significantly low slurry/liquid pressure (1-5 bar) and relatively lower speed (6000-14000 rpm). It saves a considerable amount of energy in view of above two advantages. Suspended solid in liquid is used as the feed slurry which is ejected from a nozzle in the form of a jet to hit against the toothed surface of a rotating wheel to cause atomization. The sprayed droplets are dried inside an associated drying chamber and collected through a screw conveyor at the bottom of the chamber. The feed solid at slurry stage is taken in the form of powder and includes ceramic, inorganic and organic compounds, food, drugs and Ayurvedic products.

The filter includes an annular rim that fits within a recessed portion of the cup surrounding the outlet opening of the cup. This is adapted to be attached to a paint sprayer, allowing quick interchange of coating materials and further insuring that all of the paint will flow through the filter for use.

Abstract: A liquid droplet spraying apparatus includes: a plurality of nozzles, a plurality of pressure chambers respectively connected to the nozzles, the pressure chambers each configured to store liquid to which spraying pressure is selectively applied, a common ink chamber that stores the liquid supplied to the pressure chambers; and narrowing portions coupled between the common liquid chamber and the plurality of pressure chambers to supply the liquid therethrough. The narrowing portions are larger in a pressure loss than the common liquid chamber and the plurality of pressure chambers. A ratio of a length of each of the narrowing portions in a liquid flowing direction with respect to a length of corresponding one of the pressure chambers in the liquid flowing direction is 0.34 or more, wherein the liquid flowing direction corresponds to a direction in which the liquid flows through the narrowing portions.

Abstract: A micro aviation vehicle is provided which includes a body, a first wing set, a second wing set, an actuator and a power module. The first wing set and the second wing set are disposed on the left and right sides of the body respectively, and are connected with one end of the actuator. A first angle controller and a second angle controller are used to control the swing angle of the first wing set and the swing angle of the second wing set, respectively. The power module draws the actuator through the rotation of a driving gear, and then the first wing set together with the second wing set are associated with the actuator to flap back-and-forth.
