Abstract: An animal water bowl assembly is maintained clean by allowing a bowl to dry out after a use period, before refilling. Uses include: birdbath and pet and farm animal watering. Two bowls can be coordinated so that one is in use with water while one is drying out. A two-faced assembly with oppositely facing bowls can automatically coordinate the steps for the two bowls. The process of filling a bowl, allowing it to be used, emptying it, filling another, allowing it to be used while the first dries out, can be automated with an actuator and a controller. An animal water bowl assembly has at least two bowls, with means for coordinating the filling and use and drying steps. As an example, a two faced bowl is rotatable around an axis. An electronic controller opens a valve to provide power to a hydraulic actuator, which flips the two faced bowl to empty the first and present the second for filling. Filling with water occurs automatically, also using water from the hydraulic source.

The proactive cooling system boosts the primary cooling system connected to the motor vehicle apparatus by using an electronic controller, an information collecting module for collecting information related to the operation of the motor vehicle and an auxiliary cooling system. The auxiliary cooling system uses a power supply and a secondary cooling system in fluid communication with the primary cooling system. The power supply turns on the secondary cooling system by activating an activator and a secondary pump. The activator opens a bypass circuit to divert coolant from the primary cooling system into the secondary cooling system where the diverted coolant is cooled in a secondary heat exchanger. Abstract: Valve lift variation associated with a deactivation roller hydraulic valve DRVHL (DRHVL) can result in unacceptable valve overlap and idle conditions for an internal combustion engine. Two sources of length variation in a DRHVL are leakdown and residual mechanical lash. Total length variation is the sum of these two factors, and each factor has an associated tolerance. In the prior art, the two factors are independent, resulting in a total population variation that is the sum of the two independent variations. A DRHVL assembly process in accordance with the invention includes the step of associating leakdown test results for individual lash adjusters with residual lash results by adjusting the residual lash characteristics of individual DRHVL assemblies to complement the leakdown characteristics in minimizing total length variation in the population of assembled DRHVLs.

Abstract: A method retains exhaust gas in the combustion chamber of an internal combustion engine and compresses the exhaust gas during a charge change. A first fuel quantity is injected into the retained exhaust gas by direct fuel injection. A second fuel quantity is subsequently fed to the combustion chamber so that a homogeneous fuel/air mixture is obtained in the combustion chamber. An auto-ignition time of the fuel/air mixture which is formed from the first and second fuel quantities is set as a function of a quantity ratio of the first fuel quantity to the second fuel quantity.

Abstract: A multipoint ignition engine (1) includes a central electrode pair (9), disposed in the center of a combustion chamber (2), for forming a central spark gap (10), and a plurality of peripheral electrode pairs (12) held in a head gasket (15), which has an opening portion having a substantially identical diameter to an opening portion of a cylinder (5) in a position corresponding to the opening portion of the cylinder (5), for forming a plurality of peripheral spark gaps (13) around the inner periphery of the opening portion in the cylinder (5). An air-fuel mixture in the combustion chamber (2), which is obtained by mixing together fuel and air evenly to the stoichiometric air-fuel ratio or a richer/leaner air-fuel ratio than the stoichiometric air-fuel ratio, is ignited using both the central spark gap (10) and the plurality of peripheral spark gaps (13).

Abstract: An apparatus and method for use with a carbureted internal combustion engine that accurately controls the amount of fuel that passes through the carburetor into the combustion chamber of the engine. A controlled triggering system controls the activation and deactivation of a solenoid. The solenoid, in turn, operates a plunger that varies the flow of fuel during the fuel intake cycle of the engine depending on the amount of fuel needed by the engine under any operating load. Thus, an engine can run leaner under partial load and run richer during periods of load and acceleration. By controlling the air-to-fuel ratio lower engine emissions and fuel consumption can be achieved.

Abstract: A fuel control apparatus and a method for setting a target fuel pressure are disclosed. A fuel delivery conduit accumulates fuel provided from a fuel pump. In turn, a fuel injector injects the fuel accumulated in the fuel delivery conduit while a fuel pressure regulator regulates fuel pressure in the fuel delivery conduit. There is a controller associated with the determination and control of the fuel pressure in the fuel delivery conduit based on at least one operating condition. The controller further selectively lowers the fuel pressure when the engine is in a fuel shortfall condition, where a fuel quantity capable of being injected under the fuel pressure falls short with respect to a desired fuel quantity of the engine.

Abstract: A compact, inline magnetic fuel conditioner is disclosed for improving fuel efficiency of a fuel combustion engine. The fuel conditioner has a magnetic manifold having a built-in magnetic field for interacting thus conditioning the fuel as it flows by. The magnetic field is produced by several pairs of magnets arranged along the fuel path. The magnetic manifold is sealed within a steel hull. The magnetic manifold increases the fuel surface area and its dwell time for magnetization thus improving the fuel combustion efficiency and reducing undesirable emissions to the environment. The resulting fuel saving lies generally in the range of 5% to 15%. Due to its robust operating principle and construction, the compact magnetic fuel conditioner can be deployed under a wide range of weather conditions. Furthermore, the compact magnetic fuel conditioner can be broadly deployed in gasoline engines, diesel engines and industry fuel kilns.

Abstract: A twin spark ignition apparatus having two high-voltage (HV) outputs incorporates features for balancing load capacitance on each HV output. The ignition apparatus provides a first high-voltage (HV) connection configured for direct mounting on a first spark plug, and a second HV connection for coupling to a second spark plug by way of an HV cable. The HV cable adds capacitance at the second HV output, as compared to a direct mount. The secondary winding is shifted by a predetermined distance, relative to the primary winding, in direction toward the direct mount end of the ignition apparatus. The shifting reduces the internal load capacitance at the second end (top), so that when the capacitance added by the HV cable is considered, the respective load capacitances are balanced. The voltage variation between the two HV outputs is reduced.
