Abstract: The present invention is a drop-down extra axle and wheel set for a utility truck. The extra axle and wheels are pivotally connected to an extra frame set that overlies and/or extends along the original frame for the truck, from the back end of the truck frame to near its midpoint just behind the cab of the truck. The extra frame set is a generally horizontal, rectangular piece that lays over the top of, and/or extends along, from the back end of to just behind the cab of, the original truck frame. The extra frame set has a trailing, extra, axle support assembly near its back end. The extra axle support assembly depends down from the extra frame, and supports an extra axle and wheel set at its bottom. A set of pivoting connecting rods extend forwardly from the bottom of the extra axle support assembly to pivot brackets which also depend down from the extra frame several feet forward of the extra axle support assembly.

  • Publication number: 20070210549
Abstract: The invention relates to vehicle suspension systems of the type with a trailing arm, and to a seat for securing the trailing arm to an axle or axle casing. Hitherto, trailing arms have been located on axles or axle casings and held in place by the force of U-bolts holding the trailing arm to the axle. Under excessive loads as can be applied to vehicle suspension systems, trailing arms can be moved out of alignment to the detriment of the running of the vehicle. To avoid such movement, seats for trailing arms are known to be welded to vehicle axes or casings and to which the trailing arms are secured such as by U-bolts.

Abstract: A system and method controls a rotational speed of a rotor or shaft of a turbogenerator in accordance with a present voltage level on a direct current bus. A lower threshold and a higher threshold are established for a speed of a rotor or shaft of a turbogenerator. A speed sensor determines speed data or a speed signal for the rotor or shaft associated with a turbogenerator. A voltage regulator adjusts a voltage level associated with a direct current bus within a target voltage range if the speed data or speed signal indicates that the speed is above the higher threshold or below the lower threshold.

Abstract: The system and method manages an electrical output of a turbogenerator in accordance with multiple modes. In a first mode, a direct current (DC) bus receives power from a turbogenerator output via a rectifier where turbogenerator revolutions per unit time (e.g., revolutions per minute (RPM)) or an electrical output level of a turbogenerator output meet or exceed a minimum threshold. In a second mode, if the turbogenerator revolutions per unit time or electrical output level of a turbogenerator output are less than the minimum threshold, the electric drive motor or a generator mechanically powered by the engine provides electrical energy to the direct current bus.

Abstract: A power generating apparatus comprises an electrical power generating device, a vane-carrying structure and a mounting flange. The electrical power generating device includes a body and a power input shaft extending from within the body. The body is generally cylindrical shaped with opposing end portions. The power input shaft extends from a first end portion of the body and a power cord extends from within the body adjacent a second end portion of the body. The vane-carrying structure is attached to the power input shaft and includes a plurality of elongated vanes each have a longitudinal axis that extends generally parallel to a rotational axis of the power input shaft. The vanes are evenly spaced around the power input shaft. The mounting flange is positioned between the vane-carrying structure and the body of the electrical power generating device and is attached to the body of the electrical power generating device. The power input-shaft extends through an aperture of the mounting flange.

Abstract: A power-release door lock system for an automotive door having a latch, including a ratchet (18) and pawl (20), and an electro-mechanical exterior latch release mechanism (220) for actuating the pawl to release the ratchet. The system includes a controller (210) and a pressure sensitive switch (216) mounted to an outside door handle (214) of the automotive door and electrically connected to the controller. The controller is programmed to disable the pressure sensitive switch in response to a predetermined “lock” signal and enable the pressure sensitive switch in response to a pre-determined “unlock” signal, in which case the controller energizes the exterior latch release mechanism to release the ratchet in the event the pressure sensitive switch is actuated. The system eliminates the need for an exterior lock assembly and its attendant inside lock button or rod.

Abstract: The invention relates to a cover plate for installing a handle in a door having opposing faces, an aperture communicating from one face to the other and first and second flanges adapted to lie on the opposing faces. Each flange has an aperture, corresponding at least in part with the aperture in the faces, and first cut-outs and optionally second cut-outs. The aperture and the cut-outs enable at least one different handle to be installed. The handle may have a backset distance of 60 mm, 70 mm, 90 mm, 95 mm or 127 mm, for example. The invention also relates to an adaptor for installing a handle in a door having an aperture communicating from one face of the door to another and cut-outs at the aperture. The adaptor is capable of changing the aperture in the door from one suitable for installing one type of handle to one suitable for installation of a different type of handle. The invention also further relates to use of the cover plate with one or more adaptors.

The mounting plate has a U shaped configuration to define a longitudinal wall and two flanged portions which extend from the wall in a direction of the shell so that passageways are formed between the legs of the shell and the flanged portions of the mounting plate. A buffer is disposed anteriorly of the cross member and constructed for a snap fit to the mounting plate, with the buffer having spring legs for acceptance in the passageways.
