Publication number: 20070214977Abstract: A gravure printing plate is arranged on a stage, and recessions formed in the gravure printing plate are filled with photosensitive ink. The ink fills the recessions by being placed on an end of the gravure printing plate and being wiped with a blade. The gravure printing plate is then heated while the gravure printing plate is irradiated with UV light from the bottom side of the stage, thereby curing the lower stratum of the ink in the recessions. Publication number: 20070214982Abstract: A printing cylinder for a printing press, specifically a web-fed printing press, is disclosed. The printing cylinder having an outer surface and at least one lockup slot introduced into the outer surface to clamp at least one printing form or at least one rubber blanket on the printing cylinder. The entire outer surface of the printing cylinder, including the, or each, lockup slot is evenly coated autocatalytically with nickel and phosphorus.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 16, 2007Publication date: September 20, 2007Applicant: MAN Roland Druckmaschinen AGInventors: Ralph Klarmann, Thomas Weissbacher, Christian Fuchs

Publication number: 20070214983Abstract: Disclosed in this specification is a plate punching assembly, comprising a base with a footprint, wherein the base has a slot configured to receive a printing plate. The footprint is comprised of a first actuator configured to actuate a first bore, thus punching through the slot and into a first chaff disposal opening. The footprint also has a second actuator similarly configured. The first and second actuators are independently activated. In one embodiment, a chaff disposal collector is disposed over the footprint such that the chaff is collected in a secure fashion.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 14, 2006Publication date: September 20, 2007Inventor: Chang Yee

Publication number: 20070214984Abstract: A rod holder device is disclosed for holding a rod in a metering head of a size press. The rod holder device includes an elongate rod holder having a tending side and a back side and a front and a back face, the rod holder defining a cavity for the removable reception therein of the rod, the cavity extending between the sides of the rod holder. The rod holder defines an extension which extends between the sides of the rod holder. The extension has a proximal and a distal end and a first and a second surface, the distal end of the extension defining a plurality of spaced notches. A clamping plate has a first and a second extremity and a first and a second edge and a first a and a second face, the clamping plate being secured to the metering head. The clamping plate defines a plurality of spaced recesses.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 20, 2007Publication date: September 20, 2007Inventors: James Alfano, Roger Goecks

Publication number: 20070214985Abstract: A printing cylinder having an axis-parallel channel in the cylinder, the channel narrowing toward the surface to form a slot for receiving the ends of a covering; a clamping member arranged in the channel and urged toward the slot by springs, the clamping member having at least one recess facing a respective at least one wall of the channel; and at least one supporting element arranged inside the channel and engaging a respective recess of the clamping member. A pair of adjusting elements arranged at the ends of the cylinder support the clamping member so that the clamping member can be radially displaced, the adjusting elements being arranged so that movement of the adjusting elements causes relative movement between the supporting element and the clamping member, whereby the clamping member is caused to move radially for clamping and unclamping the ends of the covering in the slot.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 19, 2007Publication date: September 20, 2007Applicant: MAN Roland Druckmaschinen AGInventors: Reinhard Naumann, Frank Oertel
