Abstract: A vacuum valve for use with a blow mold in an I.S. machine. When the blow molds close around a parison, vacuum is applied to the wall of the blow mold. At some time following the application of the vacuum, final blow will occur blowing the parison into a bottle. This vacuum will be applied until the parison has been blown into a bottle. During the period during which vacuum is applied but final blow has not started, vacuum is reduced by operating a needle valve in the vacuum line.

Abstract: There is disclosed a key required to have a reduced mechanical strength. When an authentic key is inserted into the keyway in a locking device, only a plunger member starts to move from a standby position toward an operative position. When the plunger member is pushed to the operative position, an operating lever located in the locked position swings to the unlocked position. The operating lever unlocks a locking mechanism that is in a locked state. When an inauthentic key is inserted in the keyway, the plunger member and sleeve member move together to the operative position. The operating lever in the locked position does not swing. Thus, the operating lever maintains the body portion of the locking mechanism locked.

Abstract: A potentially dangerous machine is secured to protect against injuries and has first and second tool parts that define an opening gap between them. At least the first tool part is movable relative to the second tool part in a movement direction during an operating cycle for deforming a workpiece between them by reducing a size of the opening gap in the movement direction. The protected zone is monitored with an optoelectronic sensor, and a danger signal is generated in response to a breach of the protected zone. When the size of the opening gap in the movement direction becomes smaller than the protected zone, the size of the protected zone is correspondingly reduced until during subsequent closing movements of the first tool part substantially the entire opening gap is within the protected zone.

According to one embodiment, the smoothness of a disk is evaluated by gliding over a disk to determine if there is an asperity on the disk. If there is an asperity on the disk, a location of the asperity is stored to enable location specific burnishing of the disk.

Abstract: An abnormality determining apparatus of a fuel vapor processing system is provided. The system includes a canister for temporarily reserves fuel vapor generated within a fuel tank and a fuel vapor path for discharging the fuel vapor to an engine intake passage. When it is determined that there is a leak abnormality in the fuel vapor path, a pump is operated to discharge air from the fuel vapor path to the outside through the canister. When the pump is operated, a detector detects a pressure in the fuel vapor path as an actually measured pressure. A determining section determines whether there is a leak abnormality. The determining section sets a first determination pressure and a second determination pressure that is higher than the first determination pressure. The determining section determines that there is no leak abnormality either when a first condition is met or when a second condition is met.

Abstract: The present invention provides a downhole spectrometer for determination of dew point pressure to determine an associated optimal pumping rate during sampling to avoid precipitation of asphaltenes in a formation sample. A sample is captured at formation pressure in a controlled volume. The pressure in the controlled volume is reduced. Initially the formation fluid sample appears dark and allows less light energy to pass through a sample under test. The sample under test, however, becomes lighter and allows more light energy to pass through the sample as the pressure is reduced and the formation fluid sample becomes thinner or less dense under the reduced pressure. At the dew point pressure, however, the sample begins to darken and allows less light energy to pass through it as apshaltenes begin to precipitate out of the sample. Thus, the dew point is that pressure at which peak light energy passes through the sample.

The presence of deuterium oxide-depleted water may be measured at a subterranean location by means such as core sampling, for any purpose for which tracers are known to be useful. For example, the presence or absence, and level, of deuterium oxide-depleted water in a core sample may be used to determine fluids saturation levels, porosity and permeability, as well as other subterranean formation and/or reservoir characteristics important to the oil and gas production industry.

Abstract: This device has a detection means to measure the relative amount of air movement in its vicinity. The detection means is coupled to a processing means for creating a variable trigger signal that is proportional to detected air movement. The detection means consists of a differential pressure transducer mounted inside a specially-shaped enclosure. The pressure transducer is arranged to measure the air pressure difference between two holes in the enclosure. The shape of the enclosure causes air to flow at different velocities near the holes, creating a differential air pressure. The processing means consists of a microprocessor that periodically samples the signal from the differential pressure transducer. A programmed algorithm calculates a variable trigger signal value based on a plurality of sampled signals. The processing means can also incorporate an algorithm for digitally generating audio signals that have attributes based on the value of the trigger signal.

Abstract: A driving mass of an integrated microelectromechanical structure is moved with a rotary motion about an axis of rotation, and a first sensing mass is connected to the driving mass via elastic supporting elements so as to perform a first detection movement in a presence of a first external stress. The driving mass is anchored to an anchorage arranged along the axis of rotation by elastic anchorage elements. An opening is provided within the driving mass and the first sensing mass is arranged within the opening. The elastic supporting and anchorage elements render the first sensing mass fixed to the driving mass in the rotary motion, and substantially decoupled from the driving mass in the first detection movement. A second sensing mass is connected to the driving mass so as to perform a second detection movement in a presence of a second external stress. A first movement is a rotation about an axis lying in a plane, and a second movement is a linear movement along an axis of the plane.

A sensor amplification circuit receives output of a sensor as an input signal. Correction points are set at predetermined temperature intervals. The sensor amplification circuit performs digital correction for correcting the input signal with correction data set for each correction point. Further, the sensor amplification circuit performs a second correction for correcting the input signal between the correction points with gradient data calculated from the correction data for two of the correction points that are adjacent to each other.

Abstract: A method for measuring positional changes of an object, including rotation about any or all of three axes, using linear accelerometers. There is disclosed a method of using a linear accelerometer to integrate two other 3D linear accelerometers in order to measure and supply for further use six-dimensional information, that is, translation in three dimensions and rotation about three axes. Two linear accelerometer sensors are used to determine all but one of the variables in the six degrees of freedom. Output from a third accelerometer generates the data need to determine a sixth, rotational, degree of freedom. The need for a gyroscope for detecting changes in heading (i.e., yaw of azimuth) may therefore be avoided.
