Abstract: An exemplary vane fronting surface for a variable geometry turbine includes a white layer that comprises nitrides. Such a layer may be formed using gas nitriding. As described, trials demonstrate that such nitriding reduces friction between a vane fronting surface and vanes of a variable geometry turbine. Consequently, nitriding can enhance longevity and controllability of a variable geometry turbine.

LNG is directed to flow through an ambient air vaporizer to form a natural gas stream through direct heat exchange between the LNG and ambient air. The temperature of the natural gas stream is adjusted to suit a predetermined delivery temperature in a trim heater exchanging heat with a circulating intermediate fluid. The intermediate fluid is directed to flow through an ambient air heater such that the intermediate fluid exchanges heat with ambient air. Heat transfer between the ambient air and the LNG is assisted using one or more force draft fans to direct the flow of ambient air over the ambient air heater and the ambient air vaporizer in turn to dry the ambient air before it arrives at the ambient air vaporizer.

Abstract: An ice maker for a refrigerator includes a first shaft rotatably fastened to an inside of an ice bank, a second shaft fastened to an end of the first shaft and rotated by a driving motor, and a plurality of blades formed along a longitudinal direction of the second shaft. The blades are spaced apart a predetermined distance along the second shaft and have a spiral surface which acts to push ice as the second shaft rotates. The first shaft may be formed of a material such as steel, which has good torsional elasticity. The second shaft and the blades may be formed as one molded piece.

Abstract: A refrigerator includes a cabinet with a refrigerating chamber and a cooling air passage that extends vertically along an inner wall of the refrigerating chamber. A heat exchanging device is installed at a lower side of the cabinet and generates cooling air. A blowing unit is installed at an upper portion of the cooling air passage, and acts to suck cool air from the heat exchanging device and to blow the cool air into an upper portion of the refrigerating chamber. A temperature within the refrigerating chamber can be uniformly maintained, refrigerating performance can be improved, and power consumption can be reduced.

Abstract: An oil-free refrigerant circulation technology for air-conditioning and refrigeration system comprises 99.99% oil-vapor free refrigeration oil, 100% ultra micron oil-aerosol separator built-in with oil reservoir and electronic modulating oil level analyzer. The ultra micron oil-aerosol separator can filter solid contaminant particles down to one micron in size and at the same time can deliver 100% oil-aerosol free refrigerant. With this technology an oil-free refrigerant circulation can be achieved. The problems related to oil carry over, thermal and chemical stability, moisture, oil cleanliness and lubrication in the refrigeration circulation could therefore be avoided. As a result, the energy consumption of the refrigeration system can be largely reduced and the refrigeration efficiency of the system can be significantly enhanced. Thus COP is increased by the use of oil-free refrigerant circulation technology.

Abstract: This invention relates to a mechanism for engaging two rings such as to prevent rotation and pivoting while being worn on a finger. The mechanism of this invention also allows the rings to be displayed on a pedestal, such as found in jewelry stores, without the rings losing alignment. The engaging mechanism is presented in the shape of a romantic symbol appropriate to the ring set and also provides a visually appealing effect when one ring is worn alone.

Abstract: In a known method for producing a hollow cylinder from synthetic quartz glass, a compound containing silicon is flame-hydrolyzed and SiO2 particles are deposited in layers on a rotating carrier to produce an elongated porous soot body with a central inner bore. Said body is subjected to a dehydration treatment and is then sintered vertically in a vitrification furnace, the body being held in the vitrification furnace by a retaining device. The retaining device comprises an elongated retaining body, which contains graphite and protrudes into the inner bore of the soot body, said soot body collapsing onto the retaining body to form the quartz glass tube. The aim of the invention is to develop said method to prevent the contamination of the quartz glass tube and to optimize the service life of the retaining device and the production costs.
