The anti-pinch control determines whether a vehicle is stationary, and identifies if an engine is “on” or “off.” A low pinch force parameter is applied when the vehicle is stationary and when the engine is “off.” A high pinch force parameter is applied when the engine is “on.” When the low pinch force parameter is being applied, other safety features could also be incorporated into the control, such as preventing release of a parking brake or preventing movement of a gear selector out of park, for example.

Abstract: A battery backup system includes a control device including a power sensing device, a discharge circuit, a charging circuit, and a plurality of battery packs. A lower threshold is established representative of a minimum acceptable effective energy capacity. Each battery pack is recharged if its effective energy capacity falls below the lower threshold. Additionally, an upper threshold is established representative of the minimum acceptable effective energy capacity plus a performance margin. In a two battery-pack system, if both battery packs fall below the upper threshold, the battery with the least effective energy capacity is discharged to the minimum acceptable effective energy capacity and then recharged to the battery pack's maximum energy capacity. In this way, both battery packs are prevented from approaching the minimum acceptable effective energy capacity at the same time. Abstract: A self-oscillating DC-DC buck converter with zero hysteresis is described. The converter comprises a comparator with a supply input, a non-inverting input to which a reference voltage is applied, an inverting input to which a feedback signal is applied, and an output to which a filter network is connected. The feedback signal is derived from the filter network and the output voltage of the converter is determined by the reference voltage. Connecting a filter network with an inductor and a capacitor to the output of the comparator and deriving the feedback signal from the filter network, results in an output of the comparator which is a DC output with a superimposed ripple. The level of the DC output is controlled by the reference voltage applied to the non-inverting input of the comparator, and the inductor current develops the ripple in the equivalent series resistance of the load circuit connected to the comparator output. The ripple can be regarded as the ramp signal in a conventional DC-DC converter.

Abstract: A power supply device comprises: a voltage converting portion that converts a voltage generated from a power supply portion into an output voltage to be supplied to a load; a voltage divider circuit that generates an output voltage setting signal for providing a set value of the output voltage; a set value changeover portion that turns on/off set value changeover switches to change a voltage divider ratio of the voltage divider circuit to change the set value; a storage device that stores a state appropriate for each set value changeover switch for keeping the value of the output voltage within a specified range; a set value changeover switch control portion that controls the set value changeover switches so as to bring each set value changeover switch into a state as stored in the storage device when the voltage is supplied from the voltage converting portion to the load; and an output voltage control portion that controls the voltage converting portion so as to make zero a deviation between the value of the

Abstract: A step-up DC/DC converter uses N-channel field-effect transistors as both an output transistor and a synchronous-rectification transistor and includes a first driver making the gate voltage of the output transistor pulsate between a ground voltage and an input voltage and a second driver making the gate voltage of the synchronous-rectification transistor pulsate between a switching voltage and a bootstrap voltage equal to the switching voltage plus at least the ON threshold voltage of the synchronous-rectification transistor. With this configuration, the converter opeates with improved power efficiency and performs synchronous rectification unhindered even with a small input-output voltage difference.

Abstract: A correction circuit for use in a switched power supply wherein the correction circuit provides a correction signal indicating a duty cycle adjustment necessary to modify pulse width modulation of the power supply such that the output inductor current matches the load current drawn by a load connected to the power supply. The correction circuit may be used in conjunction with feed forward and/or feed back control circuits. The correction circuit may be implemented using either digital or analog circuit components.

Abstract: A bias generator comprises a first transistor and a second transistor having a control port connected to a control port of the first transistor and to an input port of the second transistor, where a second current through the second transistor is greater than a first current through the first transistor. The current through the bias generator is minimized by providing the different currents through the transistors having a similar size.

Abstract: An inverting negative voltage DC-DC power supply circuit comprises a first resistor having one end connected to an output terminal for converting a change in output voltage into a current. A zero-volt clamp circuit is connected to the other end of the first resistor and comprises a first and second transistor. A current mirror circuit comprises a third and fourth transistor and is connected to the zero-volt clamp circuit for causing a current of the same value as that of a current flowing in the zero-volt clamp circuit to flow. A second resistor is connected to the current mirror circuit for converting a change in current flowing from the zero-volt clamp circuit into a voltage.

Abstract: In a driver circuit constructing a switching power supply device that switches power transistors passing a current through a coil by a PWM mode, a current detection transistor, which is smaller in size than the low-potential side power transistor, and a current detection resistor are provided in parallel to the low-potential side power transistor. The same control voltage as the power transistor is applied to the control terminal of the current detection transistor. An operational amplifier is formed, that has the potential of the connection node between the current detection transistor and the current detection resistor applied to its inverse input terminal and a feedback loop, so as to make a pair of input terminals of the operational amplifier be at the same potential. A signal produced by the current detection resistor is thus outputted as a current detection signal.

Abstract: A method is provided for controlling a converter of the multiphase interleaving type. According to the method, there is detected when a change of the load applied to an output terminal of the converter occurs by detecting the derivative of a voltage signal of the output terminal. All the phases of the converter are simultaneously driven by zeroing a driving interleaving phase shift on the basis of the detected load transient, and the driving interleaving phase shift is recovered to restart a normal operation of the converter. A controller for carrying out such a method is also provided.

Abstract: Time-resolved emission can be used to measure loop-synchronous, small-signal voltage perturbation in integrated circuits. In this technique the measurements are completely non-invasive and so reflect the true device behavior. The time-dependant propagation delay caused by Vdd modulation also shows the expected qualitative signature. This technique should find applications in circuits with relatively fast clock-like circuits where loop-synchronous voltage pickup is limiting circuit behavior.
