Abstract: Disclosed is a method for improving the plastic ductility of high-strength molded bodies from bulk metallic glasses from Zr, Ti and Hf base alloys and molded bodies so produced. An object is to find ways to substantially increase the plasticity and toughness of bulk metallic glasses produced on the basis of early transition metals (Zr, Ti, Hf) which is comparatively low as compared to their very high strength, thereby further increasing their potential applicability as materials for airplane structures. Hydrogen in defined ranges of concentration is introduced into the molded bodies in a concentration below the brittle hydride formation concentration. The molded bodies produced comprise hydrogen in a homogenous distribution in the amorphous short-range order structure and/or in the form of hydrogen-induced local enrichment of ductile alloy components and/or in the form of hydrogen-induced precipitations of ductile nanocrystalline phases while excluding brittle hydrides.

Abstract: A method of and system for manufacturing a microstructure having high form accuracy and a manufacturing system is disclosed. On a rough motion stage having a predetermined positioning accuracy and a large stroke length, a fine motion stage having a small stroke length and a higher positioning accuracy is placed. First, the rough motion stage is moved to a desired position. By use of a mirror placed on a laser length measuring machine and the fine motion stage, the current position of a thin film member on the fine motion stage is precisely measured. This measurement value is feed-backed to a stage control device, and a difference between the current position and a target position is calculated by an error correcting unit. Thus, an error correcting instruction value is generated to move the fine motion stage to the target position. Thus, an error of the rough motion stage is corrected.

Abstract: In the current invention, a paraffin or waxy substance is added to a solvent-based parquet adhesive to generate a contiguous film that forms a barrier layer between the adhesive and the surrounding air. This barrier prevents volatile solvents from escaping and contaminating the surrounding air before parquet laying. Abstract: A foam support ring is extracted from a tire by pushing radially inwardly against a portion of the tire's tread until the support ring is deformed to such an extent that a space is formed between tire beads and the outer periphery of a portion of the support ring. A tool is inserted into that space to keep the space open when the radial force is released. That enables a first roller to be inserted into the space and displaced relative to two other rollers that have been inserted in an internal area bordered by the beads, in order to further deform the support ring to a U-shape that can be easily extracted from the tire.

Abstract: A sun screen device includes a pair of slide rails, a shaft unit, a screen body, and a guiding unit. The shaft unit includes a pair of seat members and a shaft member. The shaft member has opposite shaft end portions that are mounted rotatably and respectively to the seat members, and a middle portion that extends between the shaft end portions. The guiding unit includes first and second protruding structures, each of which is provided on a respective one of lateral ends of the screen body and is coupled movably to a respective one of the slide rails. Each of the shaft end portions is reduced in cross-section from the middle portion of the shaft member so as to define a recess with the middle portion for receiving a respective one of the first and second protruding structures.

Abstract: A frame includes longitudinal members secured to one another. The longitudinal members support a spline that is normally open in a first position to provide a cavity. A fabric, such a mesh screen, is arranged over the frame so that the perimeter of the screen is received within the cavities of the longitudinal members. A movable platen is actuated to engage the spline. The splines are forced into the cavities to a second position in which the perimeter of the screen is pinched between the splines and the longitudinal members. A radius nose of the splines is retained in a channel of the longitudinal members securing the screen without tearing it when under load.

Abstract: A process and an apparatus are provided for producing pulp from lignocellulosic material by an alkaline cooking process, in which process preheated chips are treated in an impregnation stage with impregnation liquor, which is taken from the impregnation stage, and concentrated to obtain both a high inorganic and organic dry solid content. The temperature is higher than in the heating of the chips and in the removal of air, and is sufficient to enable the finishing of the reactions in the impregnation stage before the cooking stage. The majority of the alkali is added to the impregnation stage. In the cooking stage alkali is added to enable the delignification to be performed to a desired degree, and at the end of the cook black liquor is added to regulate the liquid-to-wood ratio. The process can be applied both to a continuous cook and to a batch cook.
