Abstract: A resource reservation system and a method for managing resources under consideration of the mobility of an MN are provided where an old refresh interval for an old resource reservation state is changed in response to handoff. The changed refresh interval propagates through at least one of a path supporting a corresponding session before the handoff and a path newly established due to handoff occurrence. When the handoff is completed, resources are released on a path, which is a part of the path supporting the corresponding session before the handoff and is not used due to the handoff occurrence, based on the changed refresh interval.

Abstract: [PROBLEMS] To realize power saving of a receiver apparatus for receiving time-division multiplexed signals. [MEANS FOR SOLVING PROBLEMS] In the receiver apparatus, power is supplied to a receiver circuit in accordance with an operation start time. A signal is received through the receiver circuit, and a quality of the received signal is evaluated by a signal quality evaluation unit 109. Control is exercised to set a late operation start time if the quality of the received signal is good, and an early operation start time if the quality of the received signal is bad. In this way, a period for supplying power to the receiver circuit can be adjusted according to the quality of the received signal. This makes it unnecessary to fix, as in conventional techniques, a long power supply period in consideration of the case where the signal quality is bad. As a result, more power saving can be achieved.

To solve this, the GMPLS-implemented nodes suspend GMPLS control when the GMPLS control is started, and transmit a GMPLS control start message to a monitoring/control device. The monitoring/control device determines whether GMPLS-not-implemented nodes exist on a GMPLS control target LSP, when they exist, performs all settings necessary for the GMPLS-not-implemented nodes, and then transmits a GMPLS control suspension release message to resume the GMPLS control.

Abstract: An apparatus and methods for a wireless telecommunication system to provide a wireless interface. A plurality of modems is used for processing wireless communications with a plurality of subscriber line circuits, each for providing a telecommunication connection. A control processor assigns a modem for each communication, selects one of the line circuits and associates that line circuit with the assigned modem for that communication. Thus, any of the line circuits can be used to communicate via any of the modems.

Abstract: A mobile station is assisted to perform a handoff from a current access point in a current extended service set (ESS) to a new access point in a target ESS. A HandOver Mediator, possibly in conjunction with a handover server, performs an authentication process and an association process with an access point in the target ESS while masquerading as the mobile station. Parameters resulting from the authentication process and the association process are then passed to the mobile station and the mobile station can perform a handoff to the new access point.

Abstract: A home agent (200) for registering with a serving node (400) in a home network (10) includes a packet filter module (210), an agent control module (220), and a registration module (240). The packet filter module detects a mobile registration packet transmitted from a mobile node (100) and informs the agent control module. The registration module registers with the serving node by transmitting a registration request packet when the agent control module is informed by the packet filter module. The registration request packet includes a home address field and a care-of address (CoA) field. The home address field is set to an Internet protocol (IP) address of the mobile node in the home network, and the CoA field is set to an IP address of the home agent. A registration method, a network system, and a network roaming method are also provided.

Abstract: In the base station for use in a cellular radio communication system, cell-reuse factors are set in a mixed manner. The base station has a use permission slot information storing unit which stores use permission slot information about slots whose use is permitted to the base station, and a slot allocating unit which determines slots to be allocated to mobile stations based on the use permission slot information in said use permission slot information storing unit. As a result, it is possible to avoid lowering of the transmission rate according to the distance from a base station, and fair radio resource allocation become possible. Further, without reducing throughput of the whole system, it is possible to realize high transmission rate communication for users located at cell edges far from base stations, without lowering throughput of the whole system.

Abstract: A method of handling packets for a user equipment in a wireless communications system includes activating a hybrid automatic repeat request procedure, receiving and storing data of a first packet into a buffer, receiving a second packet following the first packet, and utilizing a predefined process to determine whether the second packet is a retransmission of the first packet. The predefined process does not utilize a new data indicator transmitted on a control channel.

Abstract: Disclosed is a method for a preamble-based bandwidth request. The present invention enables state control of a subscriber station based on the latest environment in a portable Internet system requesting a bandwidth using a preamble, and hence allows a subsequent more efficient transmission of user data. In addition, the present invention provides information for discrimination of the subscriber station transmitting the preamble as well as state control information of the subscriber station to the base station during a preamble-based bandwidth request by the subscriber station, and enables the base station to discriminate the subscriber station in the next time of data transmission with the subscriber station.

Abstract: The invention provides authentication and authorization support for MIPv6 in a CDMA framework by transferring MIPv6-related information in an, preferably extended, authentication protocol in an end-to-end procedure between a mobile node in a visited network and the home network of the mobile node over an AAA infrastructure. Preferably, the end-to-end procedure is executed between the mobile node and an AAA server (34) of the home network In the visited network, after lower-layer setup, point-to-point communication is established between the mobile node and an internetworking access server (22). The access server then communicates with the AAA home server for MIPv6 authentication and authorization of the mobile node. A preferred embodiment uses EAP as basis for the extended authentication protocol. EAP extensions are then used for MIPv6 initiation and re-authentication, while CHAP can be beneficial for MIPv6 hand-in.

Abstract: Collisions between messages simultaneously transmitted by multiple spread-spectrum transmitters are reduced by distributing the transmissions over the available resources of the receiver. Each mobile station in a CDMA system uses one or more randomization methods to distribute its transmissions. In the first randomization, the mobile station time-delays its transmissions by a number of chips of the PN code with which it spreads the transmitted signal. In a second randomization, the mobile station randomly selects the PN code. In a third randomization, the mobile station inserts a random delay between successive message transmissions or probes if it does not receive an acknowledgement after a predetermined timeout period. A predetermined number of such transmissions is called a probe sequence. In a fourth randomization, the mobile station inserts a relatively long random delay between successive probe sequences if it does not receive an acknowledgement of any probe in the sequence.
