Abstract: An image wavelength conversion device for converting an infrared light image into a visible light, a method of manufacturing the device, and an image conversion system using the device are provided. The image wavelength conversion device is formed by an optical waveguide array 3 in which one end and the other end of each of a multitude of quasi-phase-matching sum frequency generating optical waveguides are aligned in a two-dimensional plane. One plane of the optical waveguide array 3 forms an incident plane which includes respective waveguides as elements thereof, and the other plane of the optical waveguide array 3 forms an exit plane which includes waveguides corresponding to the waveguides of the incident plane as elements thereof. From an incident light (?1) and an excitation light (?2) incident to an arbitrary element of the incident plane, an output light (?3) having the relationship of (?1)?1+(?2)?1=(?3)?1 is generated in the corresponding waveguide element.

Abstract: System and method for detecting and imaging radiation. A preferred embodiment comprises a substrate with electronic circuitry to detect changes in a transduction signal, an intermediate conductive layer disposed above and electrically connected to the electronic circuitry, and a lower separation layer with a high coefficient of thermal resistance that partially separates the intermediate conductive layer from the electronic circuitry. The preferred embodiment also includes a top layer disposed above the intermediate conductive layer and an absorptive layer overlying the top layer, with the absorptive layer being electrically connected to the intermediate conductive layer. The absorptive layer produces a transduction signal that is proportional to an amount of radiation incident on the absorptive layer. The vertical fabrication of the radiation sensor allows for sensor arrays with a good fill factor, permitting the creation of sensor arrays with high resolution while maintaining low costs.

Abstract: An organic thin-film transistor (TFT) with a large carrier mobility includes a drain electrode, a source electrode, which are made of different materials, and a semiconductor layer formed on upper surface of a substrate. Equipment for manufacturing the organic TFT comprises a substrate mounting unit, a painting unit, a light irradiating unit, a sealed container for housing the above units, and a gas supplying unit of an antioxidant gas to the sealed container. The organic TFT to be manufactured is placed on the substrate mounting unit and a semiconductor layer is formed by using the painting unit. The painted semiconductor layer is dried with a light by using the light irradiating unit. When the light with substantially uniform wavelength is irradiated to the drain and the source electrodes, a temperature gradient is caused in the semiconductor layer. Accordingly, an organic TFT with a large carrier mobility can be manufactured.
