  • Publication number: 20080017253
Abstract: The present invention relates to a gas regulator which can limit the pressure of gas flowing into the gas regulator, thus allowing the gas regulator to be operated safely. When gas having pressure higher than a preset reference pressure flows into the gas regulator, an auxiliary cylinder unit is automatically closed by a preset reference pressure, thus preventing damage to the gas regulator caused by the carelessness of a user. The gas regulator uses a piston instead of a conventional diaphragm, thus being semi-permanently usable and almost completely preventing leakage of gas from the gas regulator. The springs of the auxiliary cylinder chamber and the main cylinder chamber have different elasticities, thus letting different forces be applied to the auxiliary piston and the main piston in response to the inflow of high pressure gas, so that the auxiliary piston and the main piston may be operated together or independently.

  • Publication number: 20080017254
Abstract: A variable flow valve includes a housing, a valve element, an urging member, a first valve, a second valve, and a guide flow passage. The housing has an inlet opening, and an outlet opening. The first valve and second valve are formed between the valve element and the housing. The valve element has a separator wall. The separator wall separates the inlet opening and the outlet opening, and makes the second valve together with the housing. The guide flow passage is disposed on an inlet-opening side of the separator wall, and connects the inlet opening with the outlet opening when the separator wall moves to open the communication between the inlet opening and the outlet opening. The variable flow valve can make fluids flow without generating any turbulent flow, and can cope with the increment/decrement of required breather-gas flow volume more accurately.

Abstract: The invention provides an assembly spring and a valve incorporating such a spring. The spring is made from a wire which extends around a longitudinal axis to form windings. The spring terminates in axially opposite end portions in first and second end windings. The end windings each has an arcuate portion wherein the wire extends around the longitudinal axis. The end windings serve to fasten the spring in a groove of an element to which the spring is being attached. The end winding further has a free end portion wherein a free wire end extends outwardly away from the longitudinal axis to form gripping means. The spring thereby facilitates easy attaching of the end winding to the element. In particular, the spring is applicable for attaching a valve element to a plunger in a valve, e.g. a servo valve.

Abstract: This invention generally concerns electronically controlled hydraulic valves for use in electro-hydraulically controlled transmissions. The proportional pressure control valve 20 includes a hollow cage 42 pierced by cage tank ports 52, cage clutch ports 54, and cage pump ports 56. The cage pump ports 56 receive fluid from a pump. The cage clutch ports 54 supply fluid to a hydraulic actuator. The cage tank ports 52 return fluid from the valve 20 to a tank from where fluid circulates back to the pump. Main spool 112 controls fluid flow between cage clutch ports 54 and cage pump ports 56 or cage tank ports 52. An electro-magnetically operated pilot valve regulates fluid pressure applied to a control pressure surface 138. A feedback pressure passage 126, having feedback restriction orifice 128, restrains the rate fluid flows between the cage clutch ports 54 and the feedback pressure surface 114.

Abstract: The invention relates generally to hierarchical inorganic materials and a method for making and using same. The materials of the invention have a controlled hardness, porosity, and surface area ideally suited for use as, e.g., durable catalyst supports for reactions conducted in severe and/or hydrothermal environments. The materials of the invention are prepared by infusing hierarchical templates of suitably shaped sized cellulosic or lignocellulosic particles (e.g., from wood, bamboo, and the like) with soluble transition-metal and/or ceramic precursors. Infused templates are heated in a gaseous atmosphere until volatile chemical components are removed. After drying, the infused templates are heated under flowing argon, helium, or air atmosphere for several hours to remove volatiles and convert all or part of the transition-metal and/or ceramic precursors to respective carbide, oxycarbide, or other chemical forms.

Abstract: A sterile drape and agitator fused together, without an adhesive or solvent, for making surgical slush and an apparatus for manufacturing such a combination. A die, at a specified temperature, is forced against a drape and an agitator with a specified force for a specified time to form a fused area that has a shear strength that is not substantially reduced from the tensile strength of the drape itself. Additionally, the drape adjacent the fused area is not substantially weakened by the fusing of the drape to the agitator. In one embodiment, a machine for fusing the drape and agitator together is disclosed, the machine having a cylinder with a piston for forcing a die against the drape and the agitator, which is mounted on a fixed base.

Abstract: A method and an apparatus for butt-jointing edges of an elastic material sheet is disclosed. The elastic material sheet is supported such that the two edges to be butt-jointed are oppositely opposed. By moving a pair of counterrotating conical surfaces along the edges, the surfaces of the edges portions are drawn toward the center between the two edges so that the edges are butt-jointed. Between the conical surfaces, a small space is provided so as to form a small rib-like protrusion along the butt-joint. Then, the small rib-like protrusion of the elastic material is pressed down to flatten. Therefore, at the butt-joint interface, the elastic material irregularly interfuses to increase the strength of the butt-joint.
