Publication number: 20080016951Abstract: For leak testing closed containers (9) which are filled with a filling product containing at least one liquid component the container is introduced in a test cavity (1) which is evacuated at least down to vapour pressure of that liquid component. The pressure in the surrounding of the container (9) and thus within test cavity (1) is monitored. Monitoring is performed by a vacuum pressure sensor (7), whereas lowering pressure surrounding the container (9) is performed by a vacuum pump (5). Leakage is detected by monitoring a pressure change in the surrounding of the container which is due to evaporation of liquid emerging from a leak and being evaporated in the low pressure surrounding.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 26, 2007Publication date: January 24, 2008Inventor: Martin Lehmann

Publication number: 20080016960Abstract: In many applications, where the level of a liquid needs to be monitored (and possibly controlled), it is not necessary to provide a continuous (analog) liquid level signal, but limit sensing to one (or two) discrete levels over a small level range. In this case, a ceramic substrate sensor with discrete thermistor/heater pairs provides necessary information to control the level of the fluid. Protection of the substrate from liquid (and potential contaminants) is accomplished by coating the surface with an inert glass (“glaze”) layer and/or polymer layer (e.g., “Parylene”). Packaging of the coated substrate is accomplished by protective base, epoxy, and slosh shield. Cost can be significantly reduced over a prior art multiple thermocouple based sensor design, since discrete electronic components are avoided or reduced. Also, the number of pins, and therefore electrical connections, can be significantly reduced.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 19, 2006Publication date: January 24, 2008Inventors: Bernd D. Publication number: 20080016990Abstract: In an apparatus that includes a head, spindle, and a handle, the handle is rotatably fastened to the head by the spindle. The handle and head mate at an interface. The apparatus further includes a head axial bore offset from the spindle and configured to occupy a portion of the head and a handle axial bore offset from the spindle and configured to occupy a portion of the handle, the handle axial bore being configured to receive a torque limiting insert, wherein in response to the head being at a first rotational conformation relative to the handle, the head axial bore and handle axial bore is disposed in cooperative alignment to allow the torque limiting insert to transect the interface and enter the head axial bore. The head and the handle are rotationally coupled via the torque limiting insert. The head and the handle are rotationally uncoupled in response to a shear force being applied across the interface that exceeds a shear limit for the torque limiting insert.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 29, 2007Publication date: January 24, 2008Inventor: James A. Publication number: 20080016991Abstract: A torque-limiting mechanism is provided for use in a variety of torque-applying tools. The mechanism includes a handle defining a housing in which are disposed a slip gear and a fixed gear. The fixed gear is attached to the housing while the slip gear is attached to drive body extending outwardly from the housing and engageable with an item to be turned utilizing the tool. The slip gear and the fixed gear are connected by ball bearings disposed within recesses located on each gear that are pressed into the recesses by a force exerted on the gears by a number of spring members disposed between an enclosed end of the housing and the fixed gear. The amount of force exerted by the springs on the gears can be varied as necessary, thereby allowing the amount of torque required to enable the slip gear to move with respect to the fixed gear to be set where desired.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 9, 2007Publication date: January 24, 2008Inventor: Michael Gauthier

Publication number: 20080016998Abstract: A system for stopping a spinning table saw blade is comprised of a pin assembly disposed adjacent to a saw blade assembly for stopping a spinning saw blade. A receiving block is disposed on a side of the saw blade opposing the pin assembly for receiving the tip of the pin assembly. A driving assembly is coupled to the pin assembly for driving the pin assembly into the spinning saw blade into the receiving block. Finally, a sensing assembly is coupled to at least one of the saw blade assembly and the driving assembly for sensing encroachment of a user's hand in a pre-defined zone. In use, upon sensing a user's hand the sensing assembly signals the driving assembly to stop the spinning saw blade by driving the pin assembly through the saw blade and into the receiving block.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 2, 2007Publication date: January 24, 2008Inventor: David Keller

Publication number: 20080016999Abstract: A feed mechanism for a food slicing machine. The feed mechanism is capable of dual configurations: gripper mode and continuous feed mode. The apparatus has dual conveyors that can feed food products continuously, and a gripper mechanism that can feed food products reciprocatingly. Before engaging the continuous mode, the gripper mechanism is driven to an end of the machine and then a drive belt, which a jaw clamps during the gripper mode, is released. The dual, opposing conveyors then feed the food product that rolls to them by gravity over a moveable roller frame extending beneath the gripper mechanism. During gripper mode, the upper conveyor can be removed or raised out of the way, and the moveable roller frame is positioned just beneath the gripper. The gripper jaw clamps the drive belt and the gripper is driven in a reciprocal manner over the lower conveyor.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 21, 2006Publication date: January 24, 2008Inventors: Thomas P.
