Abstract: In a storage section, there are stored a plurality of music data sets of a given first format. Reproduction definition information defines reproducing order of a group of desired music data sets among the plurality of music data sets stored in the storage section. On the basis of the reproduction definition information, the music data sets of the first format defined by the reproduction definition information are read out from the storage section and automatically supplied as objects to be converted into a second format different from the first format. Then, the supplied music data sets of the first format are converted into music data of the second format. In this way, the music data sets of the first format can be readily converted collectively into music data of the second format.

Abstract: Audio reproduction apparatus and method for controlling audio data reproduction in accordance with a user operation or input extracts a predetermined musical characteristic, such as a rhythm, melody, etc., from audio data and generates a time information string indicating reproduction timings. During the audio data reproduction, a user operation/input on the apparatus based on a sensor output can be detected to generate detection information indicating a user operation/input timing, and determine whether or not the user operation/input timing coincides with a corresponding one of the reproduction timings indicated by the time information string. A sound system can reproduce the audio data as is, if both timings coincide with each other. Otherwise, predetermined effects can be added to the audio data or the audio data can be manipulated during reproduction.

Abstract: Various method and system embodiments of the present invention are directed to computational estimation of a tempo for a digitally encoded musical selection. In certain embodiments of the present invention, described below, a short portion of a musical selection is analyzed to determine the tempo of the musical selection. The digitally encoded musical selection sample is computationally transformed to produce a power spectrum corresponding to the sample, in turn transformed to produce a two-dimensional strength-of-onset matrix. The two-dimensional strength-of-onset matrix is then transformed into a set of strength-of-onset/time functions for each of a corresponding set of frequency bands. The strength-of-onset/time functions are then analyzed to find a most reliable onset interval that is transformed into an estimated tempo returned by the analysis.

Abstract: A method for automatically controlling the cut-off register in a web-fed rotary press includes determining an expected cut-off error in the area of harps for one of webs or partial webs before the formation of strands and automatically controlling the cut-off register of the one of the webs or partial webs by rotating plate cylinders involved in the printing of the respective web or partial web on the basis of the expected cut-off error thus determined for each web or partial web. The method further includes determining an expected cut-off error in the area of the folder upper section for at least some strands before a complete strand is formed, and automatically controlling the cut-off register by displacement of register rollers located downstream of the former in which the at least some strands are quarter-folded on the basis of the expected cut-off error thus determined for the at least some strands.

Abstract: In a method for increasing the efficiency of a consist comprised of a plurality of linked diesel-electric driven vehicles, with each vehicle including a diesel assembly and an intermediate circuit which is operatively connected to the diesel assembly and a drive motor which is operatively connected to the intermediate circuit, the operation of the diesel assembly of a vehicle is deactivated, when the vehicle requires a reduced level of power, while the vehicle is in travel mode. The drive motor is hereby operated in a regenerative mode and solely responsible, when operating in the regenerative mode, to feed electric energy to the intermediate circuit of the deactivated diesel assembly and an auxiliary operating device, connected to the intermediate circuit.

Abstract: A drive unit for driving at least one wheel drive shaft, in particular of a wheelset axle, in particular a cross-drive for use in rail vehicles with a driving engine and a transmission assembly coupled thereto. The output of the transmission assembly is formed by a hollow shaft which is coupled via an articulated coupling to the wheel drive shaft, in particular the wheelset axle. A first braking subsystem and a second braking subsystem are embodied as disk brake systems, each comprising at least one brake disk. An attachment flange of the brake disk of one braking subsystem is embodied in integral fashion with the hollow shaft. Placement of the braking subsystems along the hollow shaft is disclosed.

Abstract: The invention provides a car body of a railway vehicle capable of absorbing the energy caused when collision occurs to the end of the car body. The present invention comprises a strength member 15 disposed along the circumferential direction of the car body on the end of the car body, a strength member 16 disposed along the circumferential direction at a position rearward from the member 15, rib members 17 disposed along the longitudinal direction of the car body and connecting the two strength members, and an outer panel 18 covering the same. The longitudinal direction of the rib member 17 corresponds to the longitudinal direction of the car body. The rib member 17 is composed of two flanges 17c, 17d and a web 17b connecting the two flanges, and the side having the web 17b is welded to the outer panel 18 via fillet welding. A notch 21 opened to the edge of the flange is formed on the flange at the center of the longitudinal direction of the rib member 17.
