Publication number: 20080111078Abstract: A computer-implemented method for automated thermal computed tomography includes providing an input of heat, for example, with a flash lamp, onto the surface of a sample. The amount of heat and the temperature rise necessary are dependent on the thermal conductivity and the thickness of the sample being inspected. An infrared camera takes a rapid series of thermal images of the surface of the article, at a selected rate, which can vary from 100 to 2000 frames per second. Each infrared frame tracks the thermal energy as it passes from the surface through the material. Once the infrared data is collected, a data acquisition and control computer processes the collected infrared data to form a three-dimensional (3D) thermal effusivity image.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 18, 2006Publication date: May 15, 2008Inventor: Jiangang Sun

Publication number: 20080111081Abstract: Disclosed is an imaging system and method for the non-pure positron emission tomography (NPET). The NPET comprises a PET subsystem to detect the annihilated photons, and a SPECT subsystem to detect the associated gamma. These two subsystems are connected by a triple coincidence circuit. The source position can be determined through detection of the three photons using the triple coincidence circuit. As long as these three photons are simultaneously detected and their energies are right, the source position is directly calculated and located on the intersection of an associated line and an annihilated line. The present invention provides good temporal resolution and quantitative analysis. It immunes to scatter and random events and achieves a high signal-to-noise ratio. Real imaging is also possible in the NPET system.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 11, 2006Publication date: May 15, 2008Inventor: Keh-Shih Chuang

Publication number: 20080111085Abstract: A pressure source material is loaded into a space having constraint device 1, which is formed partly by optically transparent material 1a, 1b, and is disrupted under volume constraint. Light energy is externally supplied to the pressure source material constrained in the space through the optically transparent material by employing the device to apply light energy. The disruption of atomic bonds in the pressure source material is induced by heating the pressure source material above the boiling point thereof through the supplied energy. Exceptionally high pressures are generated in the space by the use of expansive forces arising from the disruption of atomic bonds. Such a configuration can implement ultrahigh pressure abilities that has not been achieved, so far.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 2, 2008Publication date: May 15, 2008Inventor: Yasushi Kawashima

Publication number: 20080111111Abstract: A highly filled system is provided which employs the combination of coated filler particles and a compatibilizer to allow extremely high filler loading while maintaining a low viscosity. The compositions of the present invention allows a filler level which was previously unachievable due to the increase in viscosity which is particularly evident when extremely small (nanometer sized) filler is added to a system containing conventional (micron sized) filler particles. Publication number: 20080111120Abstract: An integrated circuit memory cell includes a substrate having a first semiconductor region of first conductivity type (e.g., N-type) therein, which may define a portion of a word line within the substrate. An electrically insulating layer is provided on the substrate. The electrically insulating layer has an opening therein that extends opposite a recess in the first semiconductor region. A first insulating spacer is provided on a sidewall of the recess in the first semiconductor region. A diode is provided in the opening. The diode has a first terminal electrically coupled to a bottom of the recess in the first semiconductor region. A variable resistivity material region (e.g., phase-changeable material region) is also provided. The variable resistivity material region is electrically coupled to a second terminal of the diode.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 25, 2007Publication date: May 15, 2008Inventors: Kwang woo Lee, Jae-hee Oh, Chang-wook Jeong

Publication number: 20080111125Abstract: A thin organic light emitting device that can be used in thin devices like mobile phones and personal digital assistants. An organic light emitting display (OLED) includes a layer that blocks UV rays so that the diode and the transistor are shielded from UV rays during and after production. In order to prevent breakage during production, two substrates are bonded together and the devices are formed on each of the two substrates, providing a thicker structure that is less apt to break. The substrates are separated after production is complete.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 13, 2007Publication date: May 15, 2008Inventors: Jongyun Kim, Byoungdeog Choi
