Patent number: 7374897Abstract: The present invention provides a method for assaying alpha-methylacyl-CoA racemase activity. In the assay, a sample containing an alpha-methylacyl-CoA racemase or suspected of containing an alpha-methylacyl-CoA racemase is contacted with (2R)-pristanoyl-CoA. If alpha-methylacyl-CoA racemase is present in the sample, (2R)-pristanoyl-CoA is converted into (2S)-pristanoyl-CoA. The method then utilizes a cycling reaction system between (2S)-pristanoyl-CoA and trans-2,3-dehydropristanoyl-CoA to generate a detectable signal that corresponds to the alpha-methylacyl-CoA racemase activity. Kits for assaying alpha-methylacyl-CoA racemase based on the same principle are also provided.Type: GrantFiled: October 15, 2004Date of Patent: May 20, 2008Assignee: General AtomicsInventor: Chong-Sheng Yuan

Patent number: 7374942Abstract: A process and apparatus for testing material libraries, in particular catalysts, by means of coupled use of at least two analytical methods, preferably IR thermography and mass spectrometry. Owing to the selected arrangement, the disadvantages of the two previously known individual methods are compensated for: the subsequent selectivity determination for selected sections by means of mass spectrometry invalidates the argument against IR thermography, of only being able to determine activities; the rapid integrated determination of potentially “good” materials via IR thermography prevents an excessive loss of time by needing to test all materials of a library successively with the mass spectrometer.Type: GrantFiled: March 16, 2001Date of Patent: May 20, 2008Assignee: BASF AktiengesellschaftInventors: Jens Klein, Wolfram Stichert, Wolfgang Strehlau, Armin Brenner, Stephan Andreas Schunk, Dirk Demuth

Patent number: 7374946Abstract: Process and a test kit for the detection of drugs of methylenedioxy amphetamine family and derivatives, are disclosed. The process comprises (a) sampling sufficient amount of a material, suspected to be examined comprise of said methylenedioxyphenyl group; (b) admixing said sample with a sufficient amount of a strong acid reagent; and (c) detecting color gradual appearance and determining accordingly the presence of said methylenedioxy amphetamine drugs in predetermined interval of time. The test kit comprises a strong acid reagent; a color vs time chart comprising means for the detection of a specific drug by means of color and time of appearance, a reaction chamber wherein suspected material and said strong acid reagent are admixed and color is indicated; a sampler having means to collect sufficient amount of suspected material to be tested and to insert it to the reaction chamber.Type: GrantFiled: December 19, 2002Date of Patent: May 20, 2008Assignee: Baruch GlattsteinInventor: Baruch Glattstein
