Abstract: Apparatus for manufacturing a three-dimensional object (3) by solidifying a powdery constituent material layer by layer at the positions corresponding to the profile of the object (3) to be manufactured in the corresponding layer, by the action of a laser or another energy source comprises a support (2) on which the object (3) is formed and an applicator (6, 7) for applying a layer of the constituent material onto the support or a layer at least partially solidified in advance. The applicator (6, 7) has a receiving device (40) for receiving a applying module such as a blade module (30). The receiving device (40) is formed in a way so that the applying module (30) can be exchangeably inserted into and removed from the receiving device (40) in a way that a predetermined position of the applying module (30) in the receiving device (40) is reproducibly determined.

Abstract: A method and an apparatus are provided in which non-directional and directional metal (e.g. Ni) deposition steps are performed in the same process chamber. A first plasma is formed for removing material from a target; a secondary plasma for increasing ion density in the material is formed in the interior of an annular electrode (e.g. a Ni ring) connected to an RF generator. Material is deposited non-directionally on the substrate in the absence of the secondary plasma and electrical biasing of the substrate, and deposited directionally when the secondary plasma is present and the substrate is electrically biased. Nickel silicide formed from the deposited metal has a lower gate polysilicon sheet resistance and may have a lower density of pipe defects than NiSi formed from metal deposited in a solely directional process, and has a lower source/drain contact resistance than NiSi formed from metal deposited in a solely non-directional process.

Abstract: A clearance between a metal electrode and a sidewall portion (sidewall) of an approximately U-shaped dielectric is adjusted by, for example, partially inserting a heat insulator, a heat shield or an insulating material. Temperature difference in the Z direction (vertical direction) of the sidewall portion of approximately U-shaped dielectric is made smaller than temperature difference between front and rear sides at the bottom (bottom portion) of approximately U-shaped dielectric, to reduce warp in the Z direction of the sidewall portion of approximately U-shaped dielectric. This curbs warp in the Z direction of the bottom portion of approximately U-shaped dielectric coupled to the sidewall portion. The warp in the Z direction, which would be generated if the temperature difference only between the front and rear surfaces at the bottom were considered, can be curbed by utilizing the sidewall portion of approximately U-shaped dielectric.

Abstract: Timer Activated Doggie Door Opener is an automatic pet door that has a timer and motor to allow the door to open at designated times of the day. To use the preferred embodiment of Timer Activated Doggie Door Opener, a user selects a door or exterior wall to install the device and cuts an appropriate sized opening in the wall or door to accommodate the pet door. The user then attaches the frame and tracks of the device to the wall or door. A user then plugs the timer into a standard wall outlet and sets the timer to go on at a selected time. When the appropriate time is reached, power is sent to the motor which begins to reel the wire connected to the pet door into the housing of the motor, causing the pet door to slide along the upper and lower tracks to reveal the opening in the door or wall. When the user decides to close the pet door, he simply applies manual force to the pet door to cause the reeled in wire to unwind from the housing and allow the pet door to again cover the opening in the door or wall.
