Abstract: A tubular stuffer element for a plurality of coiled monofilaments interweaved and interconnected with pintels and having open spaces therebetween to form a fabric which is heat set. Tubular stuffer elements are inserted in the space between the coiled monofilaments. The glass transition temperature Tg of the material for the tubular stuffer elements is selected to be at approximately the heat set temperature for the coiled monofilaments so that the stuffer elements are deformed to fill the central portions of the coiled monofilaments.

Abstract: A solidification analysis method of a cast that can predict a molten temperature drop history with fine precision is disclosed. The analysis is performed by considering different latent heat emitting patterns according to the differences of the cooling speeds. An analysis model having a plurality of elements is used. A cooling speed is calculated in each element by performing a calculation of heat transfer between the elements adjacent to each other. A temperature fluctuation range is revised in each element when a temperature fluctuates from emission of solidification latent heat based on the calculated cooling speed and a predetermined fraction solid-temperature curve of a molten alloy. A solidification analysis of the analysis model is performed by using the revised temperature fluctuation range.

Abstract: Disclosed is a molding method for separating a cope flask and a drag flask from a match plate at the same time. The method comprises the steps of: holding the match plate between the cope and drag flasks; inserting an upper squeeze member and a lower squeeze member into openings of the cope and drag flasks, which are opposed to the match plate, to define an upper molding space and a lower molding space, respectively; filling the defined molding space with molding sand; and driving the upper and lower squeeze members toward the match plate to squeeze the molding sand within the upper and lower molding space to mold an upper mold and a lower mold at the same time. The cope and drag flasks that are included within said molded upper and lower molds are forcibly pushed away from the match plate at the same time when the flasks are stationary.

Abstract: The present invention has an object of preventing segregation during the casting of Mg alloy or the like containing additive elements having a great difference of specific gravity to obtain a cast having a good quality. A casting mold 1 having a molten metal received therein is rotated in one direction by a rotary device 7 with the vertical axis as a rotary axis while solidifying the molten metal for a predetermined period of time, and, after the predetermined period of time is lapsed, the casting mold 1 is rotated in the direction opposite the direction of rotation for a predetermined period of time, and the rotation in the opposing directions is repeated so that the molten metal is solidified. The molten metal can be shaken and agitated without roughening the surface of the molten metal to uniformalize the distribution of temperature of the molten metal in the casting mold. The production of segregates can be minimized and a fine homogenous structure can be obtained.

Abstract: When a molten steel (106) is supplied into a moving mold defined by concave rolls (101, 102) and side checks (103, 104), the molten steel (106) is cooled by the surfaces of the rolls (surfaces except steps) to form solidified shells (111, 112). Both solidified shells (111, 112) are pressure bonded, and pulled out as a cast piece (113). A heat insulator (ceramic coating) has been applied to the circumferential surfaces of steps (101a, 101b, 102a, 102b) which are opposite end portions of the rolls. Thus, at these portions, heat dissipation does not proceed, and no solidified shells are formed. Hence, clearances are formed between the opposite ends of the solidified shells (111, 112) and the side checks (103, 104), and the solidified shells (111, 112) do not contact the side checks (103, 104), with the result that the wear of the side checks (103, 104) is prevented.

Abstract: A sand-introducing device that uses air for introducing molding sand in a molding space or spaces is provided. The device is provided with air-permeable partitioning plates that define a double-walled structure together with the wall of the body of the device. The air-permeable partitioning plates are easily produced, they can easily inject pressurized air of a desired pressure, and they will not need regular maintenance. The body of the device, which acts as a pressure tank, defines a double-walled structure together with the air-permeable partitioning plates (10, 11), thereby defining chambers (12, 13). In the sand-introducing device that uses air, while molding sand is fluidized by pressurized air injected from the air-permeable partitioning plates, it is introduced in a molding space. Each air-permeable partitioning plate is made of a porous resin or metal.

Abstract: A heat exchanger 10 is for use in a geothermal energy system for a building 12, for heating and/or cooling. The exchanger 10 has a flask member 14 which defines a chamber 16 for heat exchange fluid. A supply conduit 22 supplies heat exchange fluid to a first port of the chamber 16, from ground level. An exhaust conduit 26 removes heat exchange fluid from a second port 28. The flow direction can be reversed. A pipe 30 extends from the inlet port 24 to an intermediate position 32, generally at the bottom of the chamber, whereas the outlet port 28 is generally at the top of the chamber. Accordingly, fluid entering the chamber must pass down to the bottom of the chamber, before leaving the pipe 30 and then flowing back up the chamber to the outlet port 28.
