Abstract: Methods for fabricating light-emitting diode (LED) array structures comprising multiple vertical LED stacks coupled to a single metal substrate is provided. The LED array structure may comprise two, three, four, or more LED stacks arranged in any configuration. Each of the LED stacks may have an individual external connection to make a common anode array since the p-doped regions of the LED stacks are all coupled to the metal substrate, or some to all of the n-doped regions of the LED stacks may be electrically connected to create a parallel LED array. Such LED arrays may offer better heat conduction and improved matching of LED characteristics (e.g., forward voltage and emission wavelength) between the individual LED stacks compared to conventional LED arrays.

Abstract: There is provided a film deposition method of depositing a multielement metal oxide film capable of depositing a multielement metal oxide film having a desired composition and a desired thickness in an improved repeatability. A film deposition method deposits a multielement metal oxide film on a surface of a workpiece by a film depositing process including supplying organometallic source gases generated by atomizing a plurality of organometallic compounds into a processing vessel capable of being evacuated. A dummy film deposition process corresponding to at least three cycles of the film deposition process is carried out by placing a dummy workpiece in the processing vessel and supplying the organometallic source gases into the processing vessel immediately before starting the film deposition process for depositing a multielement metal oxide film on the workpiece. Thus a multielement metal oxide film having a desired composition and a desired thickness can be deposited in an improved repeatability.

The powder basecoat is preferably applied in the same painting booth as the powder primer, i.e., without curing the powder primer. The powder basecoat includes a flake additive, such as a mica flake or a metal flake, which prevents surface irregularities from forming in the powder primer and the powder basecoat as a result of not curing the powder primer before applying the powder basecoat. Abstract: Wallboards are produced by methods which use significantly reduced Embodied Energy when compared with the energy used to fabricate gypsum wallboard. A novel binder, consisting in one embodiment of monopotassium phosphate and magnesium oxide, and combined with various fillers, is used to provide a controlled exothermic reaction to create a gypsum board-like core which can be wrapped in a selected material such as recycled paper and manufactured on a conveyor system to appear and handle like gypsum wallboard, but without the large energy required to make gypsum wallboard. The resultant product may be used in interior or exterior applications and possesses the fire, sound and other important properties of gypsum wallboard. As energy costs increase, the novel wallboards of this invention can become less expensive to manufacture than traditional wallboard. The manufacturing process results in much lower greenhouse gas emissions than the processes used to make gypsum wallboard.

Abstract: A molded interconnect device with a high-current trace and methods of making a molded interconnect device with a high-current trace are described. The molded interconnect device comprises a substrate surface and an interconnect pattern. The interconnect pattern is at least one of a rib raised from the substrate surface and a channel protruding into the substrate surface. In a first embodiment, the molded interconnect device is molded from photosensitive plastic molded in a one-shot molding process. A trace is grown on the portion of the interconnect pattern where an interconnect path has been written, either by a laser or by photolithography. In a second embodiment, the molded interconnect device is molded of plastic and the trace is grown by at least one of a mask and print-and-plate process and a mask and print-and-etch process. The trace forms at least one of an angle and a curve in cross section.

Abstract: The invention provides a low density paperboard material and associated method for use in producing an insulated container, and is especially well-suited for making cups. The paperboard material comprises a paperboard web including wood fibers and expanded microspheres, and has a relatively low density ranging from about 6 to about 10 lb/3MSF/mil, a relatively high caliper ranging from about 24 to about 35 mil, and an internal bond strength of at least about 80×10?3 ft-lbf., preferably at least 100×10?3 lft-lbf. For applications such as cups the material is also coated on one or both sides with a barrier coating, preferably low density polyethylene, to limit liquid penetration into the web. The low density paperboard material of the invention is convertible for manufacture of containers, particularly cups, and exhibits insulative properties comparable to higher cost materials conventionally used to make cups.
