Publication number: 20100126782Abstract: The present invention provides an improved weigh-in-motion scale. A slight increase in the thickness of a an upper, flexibly-deformable metal plate in a thin, flexibly-deformable plate system coupled with a change in the transverse locations of the load cells provides the improved weigh-in-motion scale, which is capable of weighing substantially heavier loads than previously known weigh-in-motion scales. In use, as weight is applied to the weigh-in-motion scale, the upper flexibly-deformable metal plate elastically bends. The strain gauges thus provide a changing resistive value proportional to the bending of the flexible element and the weight applied, to generate signals to the Wheatstone bridge circuit, which then provides output signals from the Wheatstone bridge circuit, which are proportional to the force applied to the upper flexibly-deformable metal plate.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 27, 2009Publication date: May 27, 2010Applicant: INTERNATIONAL ROAD DYNAMICS, INCInventors: Terrance Arthur BERGAN, Randal Leroy HANSON

Publication number: 20100126816Abstract: A control section determines a driving state of a vehicle and controls first and second solenoid valves on the basis of the determined driving state. An oil passage length of a second oil discharge passage is shorter than that of a first oil discharge passage and a discharge end of the second oil discharge passage is opened at a lower position than that of the first oil discharge passage. The control section derives hydraulic oil, discharged from an oil chamber via a first shift valve, to the first oil discharge passage by means of a second shift valve when it is determined that the driving state is one during normal driving. The control section derives the hydraulic oil to the second oil discharge passage by means of the second shift valve when it is determined that the driving state is one required for rapid lock-up off.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 25, 2009Publication date: May 27, 2010Applicant: HONDA MOTOR CO., LTD.Inventors: Hiroshi Takei, Yutaka Ishikawa, Yoshimichi Tsubata, Motoo Takeda

Publication number: 20100126817Abstract: Example aspects of the present invention broadly comprise at least two concentric rings with complementary ramped surfaces, at least one of the rings being rotatable relative to another one of the rings so that contact is made at the ramped surfaces. The complementary ramped surfaces form respective circumferences of the rings. At least one of the ramped surfaces may have a sinusoidal profile, or a profile forming at least one of a straight line, concave, or convex. In some example embodiments of the invention, a first one of the rings is a coupling member and a second one of the rings is a tubular slipper with a friction surface radially opposite of the ramped surface. The tubular slipper is arranged to radially expand or contract upon contacting the coupling member.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 22, 2009Publication date: May 27, 2010Applicant: Schaeffler KGInventors: TOMAS SMETANA, Brian Lee

Publication number: 20100126818Abstract: Example aspects of the present invention comprise two concentric rings, the rings movable relative to each other and defining a clearance between them for receiving at least one ball. The first ring is a coupling member, the second ring is a tubular slipper with a friction surface on the far side of the clearance, and the ball contacts the coupling member to the tubular slipper. At least one ring has a first recess with side walls for receiving the least one ball, and the friction surface is configured to displace in a radial direction when the at least one ball is axially aligned with the first recess and forced to run up the side walls by rotating the rings relative to one another. In an example embodiment of the invention, the first recess is a calotte.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 25, 2009Publication date: May 27, 2010Applicant: SCHAEFFLER KGInventor: Brian Lee

Publication number: 20100126819Abstract: A wave spring holding structure includes a wave spring that includes crest portions and recessed portions that are alternately formed in a circumferential direction thereof, and a first gap; a circular member provided to be rotatable around an axis; and an arc-shaped snap ring that includes a second gap, and that restricts movement of the circular member in a direction of the axis. The wave spring and the snap ring share the axis with the circular member. The wave spring and the snap ring are rotatable with respect to each other. The wave spring is disposed and held between the circular member and the snap ring so that the crest portions protrude toward the circular member, and the recessed portions protrude toward the snap ring. The first gap is formed in one of the crest portions.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 24, 2009Publication date: May 27, 2010Applicant: TOYOTA JIDOSHA KABUSHIKI KAISHAInventors: Shintaro Goto, Terasu Harashima, Naoki Kato

Publication number: 20100126820Abstract: A clutch 44 has a clutch boss 441, a clutch housing 442, a friction plate 64, a clutch plate 65, and a pressure plate 450. The clutch boss 441 is attached to the main shaft 41 so as to be integrally rotated therewith. The clutch housing 442 encloses the periphery of the clutch boss 441 and is attached to the main shaft 41 so as to be rotated with respect to the main shaft 41. The friction plate 64 has a plate main body and a friction material and rotates together with the clutch housing 442. The clutch plate 65 faces the plate main body via the friction material and rotates together with the clutch boss 441. The pressure plate 450 rotates together with one of the clutch boss 441 the clutch housing 442 which is engaged with the friction plate 64.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 19, 2009Publication date: May 27, 2010Applicant: YAMAHA HATSUDOKI KABUSHIKI KAISHAInventors: Toshinori INOMORI, Yousuke ISHIDA

Publication number: 20100126821Abstract: A torque transmitting apparatus includes a cover portion generally defined by a first axis. The cover portion includes a plurality of adjustment apertures. The apparatus also includes a flywheel coupled to the cover portion for rotation therewith, wherein the flywheel is restrained from axial movement relative to the cover portion. The apparatus also includes a pressure plate coupled to the cover portion for rotation therewith. The pressure plate is axially moveable relative to the cover portion. The apparatus also includes a clutch disk at least partially interposed between the flywheel and the pressure plate. The apparatus also includes a plurality of first members extending between the pressure plate and the cover. Each first member exerts a biasing outward radial force on the adjustment aperture to resist axial movement therebetween. A portion of the first member exerts a biasing axial force on the pressure plate thereby biasing the pressure plate toward the flywheel.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 26, 2008Publication date: May 27, 2010Inventor: Barry Thomas Adams

Publication number: 20100126822Abstract: An electromagnetic clutch includes an electromagnetic coil positioned within a coil housing. A pulley rotates relative to the housing and the coil. A shaft is rotatably supported by the housing. A hub plate is fixed for rotation with the shaft. A floating element is positioned between the pulley and the hub plate. An elastomeric ring is mounted between the pulley and the floating element and provides a driving connection therebetween. The elastomeric ring is sized to urge the floating element into frictional driving engagement with the hub plate and is compressible during energization of the coil to decouple the floating element from the hub plate.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 24, 2009Publication date: May 27, 2010Inventors: FRITZ WINKLER, RYSZARD OSTROWSKI, ZORAN IVOVIC, DEJAN VUKOJICIC
