Publication number: 20110086590Abstract: An interference device and method of interfering with signals from a UMTS base station in a particular area are disclosed. The interference device receives a signal from the base station intended for a mobile device to initiate a communication session. The interference device synchronizes to the S-CCPCH and alters the TCFI and/or the data in the data field of the slot so that it is not longer correct. Time-shifted copies of the altered signal are then multiplexed and transmitted to the mobile device as a jamming signal. The jamming signal is received by the mobile device and causes the mobile device to be unable to determine the data of the original signal from the base station.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 13, 2009Publication date: April 14, 2011Applicant: MOTOROLA, INC.Inventors: MICHAEL L. Publication number: 20110086634Abstract: The disclosed subject matter relates to an architecture that can detect a potential fault condition in a wireless communication network. In particular, the architecture can reference handover transaction failures in order to identify issues, e.g., before such issues escalate to more severe fault situations. In addition, the architecture can dynamically query a set of devices or components potentially responsible for the handover failure and/or take appropriate actions aimed at remedying the issue in an expeditious manner.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 13, 2009Publication date: April 14, 2011Applicant: AT&T INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY I, L.P.Inventor: Moshiur Rahman

Publication number: 20110086635Abstract: A network node receives (101) from a user equipment (UE), an indication of a mobility state of the UE. The network node utilizes (102) the mobility state of the UE to adapt a time to trigger (TTT) value for use in improved handover operation. Depending on the embodiment, the network node may also track handover failures (such as failures due to missing handover commands) and handover ping pongs and use this information to determine a TTT value that achieves a reduction in either a number of handover failures due to missing handover commands or a number of handover ping pongs or possibly both.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 8, 2010Publication date: April 14, 2011Applicant: Alcatel-Lucent USA Inc.Inventor: Heidrun Grob-Lipski

Publication number: 20110086638Abstract: Method and apparatuses for power and handoff management in a multiple wireless technology communication device are disclosed. One method includes a wireless device communicating using a first technology, and detecting availability of a second technology. Logic control of the wireless device receives a power level indicator of communication signals of the first technology, and determining an acceptable power level of communication signals of the second technology based on the power level indicator. The logic control determines a requested power level of communication signals of the second technology based on a request from a base station. The logic control provides a modified link quality representation to the base station if the requested power level is greater than the acceptable power level. The wireless device transmits to the base station with the second technology at the acceptable power level.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 8, 2010Publication date: April 14, 2011Applicant: BECEEM COMMUNICATIONS INC.Inventor: Kameswara Medapalli
