Abstract: The invention provides a storage system for storing large amounts of energy. The storage system compensates for fluctuations in power consumption in an electrical power supply grid, and it may be useful e.g. in combination with various sources of renewable energy. The system comprises a reservoir, a load, and an energy conversion structure. The load provides a bias-force on the reservoir and thereby biases the reservoir towards a configuration with a smaller volume. When surplus electrical power is available, a turbine or similar energy conversion structure can work against the load by pumping water into the reservoir. At a later point in time, the conversion structure may regenerate electrical power based on flow energy when the fluid is released from the reservoir under pressure from the bias-force from the load.

Abstract: A heat pump according to the present invention comprises a plurality of the compression chambers, and compresses refrigerant with multistage, and injects vapor refrigerant into the space between the plurality of the compression chambers by using the first refrigerant injection flow path and the second refrigerant injection flow path. Performance and efficiency of the heat pump can be improved compared with non-injection, as flow rate of the refrigerant circulating the indoor heat exchanger is increased. Thus heating performance can be improved also in the extremely cold environmental condition such as the cold area by increasing the injection flow rate. Also, because the heat pump according to the present invention comprises the first refrigerant injection flow path and the second refrigerant injection flow path, refrigerant is injected twice. Thus, as the injection flow rate of the refrigerant is increased, heating capacity can be improved.

Abstract: A heating and cooling system, which includes a refrigerant circulation circuit, first and second targets, first and second refrigerant circuits, a first switching section, and a control device, is disclosed. The first switching section is selectively switched between a first position at which a refrigerant discharged from a discharge area of a compressor is permitted to flow to the first target and a second position at which the refrigerant is not permitted to flow to the first target. The control device switches the first switching section to the first position so that the refrigerant circulation circuit functions as a first refrigerant circuit, thereby heating the first target and cooling the second target. The control device switches the first switching section to the second position so that the refrigerant circulation circuit functions as a second refrigerant circuit, thereby cooling only the second target.
